any team sport has balance in player numbers and equipment
any racing sport has balance in max engine size.

Competitive games are those in which players play against one another and where one player winning means another player loses.
This is the definition of competitive game.

sure in broadest definition of competitive game win/loss can be considered as definition. but in that case every game is competitive game. you either win the game or lose. every single player game and every multiplayer game can be considered in one way or another a competitive game. europa universalis? competitive game. super mario? competitive game. raft? competitive game.
