I played way back when campaigns were a thing, but alas, my foolish self didnt play a whole lot, and i have barely ever played stalingrad, so it pains my heart to see it fully gone with the merge, as i am absolutely in love with just about any ppsh variant in our game.
Basically can we either add it into the tech tree after or as a sequence buy to Kiraly OR move it into lootboxes like it was done to mp41(r)
I dont think ppsh is all that insanely overpowered or anything, its an amazing gun for cqc, sure, but stg44, as44, fg42 2, t20, basically there are a lot of guns that are more versatile and would generally be considered better.
I would love for the gun to come back at least in any way possible, be it tech tree, or loot boxes, or a return event, or even a premium squad(albeit suomi kinda takes that spot already).
Please consider resurrecting the gun)
Actually I’m tired of these annoying pass owners going on complaining about it. Like shut up it’s been almost 2 years
It definitely should not be added to tech tree. For that, there’s PPSH-41 in Soviet tech tree.
But I don’t see any reason they shouldn’t reintroduce it via some event or so.
no, it can stay a unique thing, like the man licker
they could reintroduce the mp717(r) with the soviet ppsh model but still using 7.63 mauser, so the original mp717(r)s would have that unique sight and wood colorization
The reason for asking mp717 is for that juicy drum mag, not sure if you can use mauser ammo with soviet drums. mp41(r) with the mp40 mags is already present after all
yes, you literally can, thats why the mp717 says it uses 7.63 while the ppsh41 uses 7.65, the calibers are interchangeable
germans put 7.63 mauser into the ppsh because it was more readily available
well, that also sounds cool, thanks for explanation
I’d like to see it return to the German TT along with my beloved Mannlicher M93
Yes I need my entire br 1 line up to be all manlicher
I play both Axis and Soviets (along with all the factions in the game). And I’d rather let it stay for the Soviets tech-three only. My reason, personal choice mind you, is that the PPSH-41 is the absolutely most iconic Soviet machine gun, and probably one of the most famous from WW2. In my mind, when I think of Soviet infantry, fighting through destroyed houses, clearing buildings. That’s the weapon that paints instantly in my mind when I think of WW2 Soviet army.
Also, let me mention that I don’t own the ‘Stalingrad bundle’, before anyone starts pointing fingers.
I understand the use of the PPSH-41 being adapted and used by the Wehrmacht. And it made sense back then in the campaign days, as it gave a unique flavor and niche aspect for those who knew the accuracy of that historical fact during the Battle of Stalingrad. (1993 Stalingrad movie, my favourite) But the Soviets did the same so with many of the Werhmacht’s captured weapons too, all throughout the war, while they were retreating. And we don’t see Soviet mains asking for Germany’s stuff (At least it’s rarely seen in the forum, unlike the MP717 discussion that appear occasionally here) so I guess the Soviet mains do understand the need for unique weapons in each other’s faction. At least it seems. And I respect that.
A point of comparison would be like giving iconic WW2 German weapons for USSR tech three versions, like the MP-40, STG-44, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d absolutely love to see the MP-717 making a comeback in future events, but again, as part of events. Because it adds flavour, and variety. And it would be very good welcomed by everyone, myself included.
However, I additionally propose we could get maybe the Finnish Suomi, making an appearance as part events. Which I seem to recall reading that the PSSH-41 design is inspired by the Suomi’s. (Someone could correct me on that) And it would make sense, given the fact of the Winter War and the Continuation War during the context of Barbarossa. There’s probably some cool variants out there that we haven’t seen yet. People who know more about weapons could give suggestions in this matter.
Sorry for the long answer, I’m too high.
Soviets already kinda have iconic german stuff(panzerfaust), and it makes sense, as it was both used by the soviets en masse, when captured, and because, well, what kind of AT can soviets even receive if not panzerfaust ?
Now i know asking for an actual weapon is a bit different than asking for a panzerfaust for soviets, but i feel like a slightly different version of ppsh can be justified ? sorta ? we already even have an obrez ppsh in the german tech tree kinda(which is a straight up copy from the soviet tech tree iirc), but again, im down to just about anything, it doesnt have to be tech tree,it could be from events, loot boxes, mb season pass, i’m curious what people think is preferable.
p.s. I didn’t know mp717 is such a target for debates around here, i just asked for it, because i love the ppsh gameplay, but dont think its particularly OP in comparison to other br5 weapons, and would want it for both nations(especially considering they are slightly different, rof, sights, etc)
I understand, buddy. Sorry, I didn’t meant to sound too square with my opinion in this matter, and you’re right about the Panzerfaust. The old ‘legacy’ weapons from the old campaign system made sense, not just because of the historical fact, but it was there to give an equal fighting weapon to the other opponent. And currently the whole weapon ‘balancing’ system in this game is very whack ever since the ‘merge’. It has spawned so many topics in the forum, for many weapons and vehicles.
And trust me, I know how hard it is to fight the USSR in CQC, I had my baptism of fire in this game grinding Stalingrad Axis as a free-to-play, and it was an absolute pain, yet I still had fun. But when you’re the one on the other receiving end, trust me, Germany also has some very devastating weapons of their own. So I personally don’t think they need a tech-three version ‘handout’ in the form of the MP-717.
However, I do believe the MP-717 should make a comeback someday, but as an event. Same for the Finnish Suomi. But giving it as a tech-three version would be too much, although, only time will tell. Because to be honest, there’s been so many changes over time in the way they decide which faction gets which weapon. Which I bet no one ever imagined it’d ever happen to the current game we have now, since the merge dropped. So this is not something exactly set-in-stone. That’s just my personal, albeit a bit pedantic, opinion. The higher ups have the final saying in the matter, anyways.
While i do consider Ppsh an overall best cqc weapon, i feel like at br5 smgs just dont cut it anymore, at least not as good, due to assault rifles and some monstrous stuff like fg42, t20, etc
Hence why i don’t consider mp717 to be overpowered, really its just there for the flavor and fun of it
As44 is essentially an stg44 reskin, stat wise, and i dont think anybody complained about it, no ?
mp717 has less of an impact on meta than an stg44(i think ?), not that it wouldnt be a buff, just not anything gamebreaking, but you are right, each country having each others weapons, would quickly turn this game into war thunder with 57 sherman variants throughout all nations everywhere, which isnt ideal, i have seen people mention it returning as an event weapon, so really, that would be cool as well, thanks for the opinion.
BR5 smgs can still be very strong. Just look at Soviet Thompson 100.
It’s all about how devs will balance those artificially made up stats.
Obv, old smgs are outdated because of very real power creep.
That’s very true. The PPSh-41 is not as overpowered as it’s made out to be, or the way it used to be years ago for that matter. That was before the full auto rifle ‘tug-of-war’ that we have now. Back then the PPSH-41 had some well deserved respect still. And it was actually scary to even hear the ‘prrrr’ around the corner wiping out your buddies, while you’re holding a bolt action. Now I’m more scared of hearing Fedorovs, FG-42 II (now in full auto by default) and Type Hei automatic.
And for my own lineup of Soviet tech-three assaulters I’d rather have the ‘PP Spyntanhy 1940’ instead of the PPSh-41, if I were to pick one. Which it’s overall better in many aspects. Including range and drum size. My only regret is that I was only able to buy 1 before the old gold order system went down the drain. But what can I do… shrug
And lastly. It may be just me, but I feel that if they were to give the MP-717 as an unlockable tech-tree weapon for Germany, even less people would be playing Soviets and instead would jump right into Axis. And according to some stats I saw, Soviets are already the 3rd least played faction in the game, down with Japan in 4th place. (With Germany on top of the list). So taking away this unique ‘flavour’ exclusive in the Soviet tech-three would be the final nail on their coffin. That’s the way I see it. And that’d be sad to see it happen, because they’re a great faction.
Honestly, i think it’s fine to add it, i dont think its that big of a deal, more weapons, more variability
Well since PPSH just barely misses the damage power to be a 2 hit kill SMG up close, its shots to kill won’t get influenced by Soviet body armor - ironic
What’s the point of giving shitter gun than USSR have ? MP717 was to counter the lack of effective high RoF smg with an High capacity mag
actually PPS-43 is FAR better than any other BR II smg and STG 44 is easily surpassed by AS and AT 44
That’s why we’ve got fedorov spam unless ppsh
It’s an event reward now. Good luck seeing it cycle again
