Move PPS-43 and MP-40 to BR III

Its fine in BR2.

Somebody should prove that by providing side-by-side comparisons of the guns being used in game. They don’t have to fight each other, just a comparison of how well each weapon performs against various targets in different environments.

Without any evidence this whole thing is just a subjective back and forth that won’t convince anyone and only further muddle the topic. Comparing stats on a spreadsheet is too granular and fails to account for how all those stats interact to inform the true performance of the weapons. What we need is videos of somebody shooting their way through multiple targets under real conditions for a fair comparison

Not when considering SMGs.

Doesn’t matter when it’s not as controllable as the MP.

That’s not a pro for a pistol cartridge, infact it is the polar opposite.

Again, this doesn’t matter when the RoF is so large and thus makes it harder to control.

3 more bullets on a gun that requires more ammo to kill something really isn’t an advantage at all.

Huge issue on skill, bc of this low RoF, it’s super easy to land shots and land a follow-up. Not to mention you’re meant to use SMGs in bursts anyway, not dumping in the mag.

You’ve already proven to be the one with ‘fanfiction’ in your head by presuming I am Soviet-biased, only to be proven wrong with objective facts.

Yes, as was I talking about those two SMGs as well.

wrong it’s always valid pro/cons especially if it’s a high firing gun

PPS-42 is better controllable than mp38/40

what are you talking about? better velocity is always better when you fight at longer distances

it’s not like axis smgs are laser they also bounce left and right, just use pps-42 if you want same lower recoil as the mp40

lol, it requires less bullets to kill due amazing rof

huge issue of skill for you is not being able to utilize overpowered pps42/43, also that’s my point since you seem to have issue with bursting

all your posts are not objective but only subjective i only post in objective facts with stats that devs provided and you are wrong again, again and again

No, SMGs are more sensitive to dispersion differences because they’re full auto…

False, higher ROF doesn’t make something ‘better controllable’ at all. That’s why some SMGs are retrofitted to have slower firerates such as the 1921 and 1928 Thompson.

The point of a good pistol cartridge is to have a slow, damaging bullet… Having an absolute zipper of a cartridge is only good for armor-piercing and defeats the purpose of having something for close range, which is what SMGs are made for… This is literally the whole reason the USSR switched to 9mm post-war.

Despite the fact the Beretta M38 has the lowest dispersion in the game and the MP 38/40/35 all have extremely low dispersion ratings in contrast to the Soviet SMGs.

Read that again, but slowly.

I literally just said SMGs are meant for bursts, did I not? “Overpowered PPS” pfft, have yet to see the reason.

But yet you conveniently leave out the stats of the German weapons I listed that have significant advantages over the Soviet ones, cherry picking the MP-38 and 40. Not to mention they have slower RoF, which means they’re easier to keep shots landing consistently on target.
I posted screenshots proving you wrong as well. Unless you’re going to tell me they’re fake and ‘wrong’, too. I’m German main who has self awareness of the power of the guns they use, spooky isn’t it?

Using your logic, I suppose it’d only be fair the MG-34 and each German LMG after it should be ranked at Tier 5. Due to their lower dispersion than an SMG, super high RoF, and super low recoil, they’re technically even better than assault rifles. Not to mention their 50 round drums.

Its so impressive that people keep begging for downtiering and free 100rd Tommy because its so much power.
Seems to be very impressive if you need to compete with ARs that outgun you at range and with recoil and accuracy, while still having decent dmg.

So this makes even less sense unless the caliber of MP38 and MP40 is actually different.
(Edit: Wanted to reply to Anime Dude with Asian letters but apparently didnt show it as reply)

MP38/MP40 are the same shite after maxing them, unlike PPs42 and PPS43

Same firerate when Maxed (570rpm for both)

Reread what I said, I said SMG, you’re comparing an SMG to an assault rifle, an entirely different class of weapon. The Thompsons are fine where they are, don’t know why you think I support downtiering them.

…br 2 is about as even as it gets. Think your efforts would be better concentrated elsewhere.

Br 2 aint it.

Theres pretty much only 2 things soviets dont have on whole…impact grenades and a heavy bomber opposite ju188

The rest is just player issues

Without engaging with the rest of this thread, I honestly think the reason was to justify giving the US lanchester at BR2. I’m a US main, and as much as I like my grease guns, the M3 and Sten weren’t cutting it, Lanchester was a bit needed, and if that means Germany gets MP40 and 38 at BR2, they’re not such an improvement over 3008/FNAB that I’d complain about it, regardless of what faction I’m playing.

FWIW, I’ve also finished all the research available for USSR, and I don’t understand why anyone complains about the PPS-43. It’s literally just a less controllable PPS-42. 42 can do the kind of work Mp40 does, RoF and compound recoil make the 43 a close-range brawler and not much else, IMHO the SMG game is fine where it is, for now.

Agreed. I’d like to see a change to the MM, because I’d love to play all these countries at BR3 all the time, but I don’t want to be seal clubbing or getting clubbed every match. BR5 is a fun romp, but when I’m feeling the slower, early alpha bolty gameplay or even some semi-auto midrange shenanigans, I’d like to be able to choose that without risking anything, ya know?

Pointless because at BRV the Drum Thompson is supposed to be end counter to AR because there is nothing else in US Assault tree for that matters. Thompsons are supposed high end Assaulters for US and they are terrible at their job.
And even against Kiraly and Beretta, it is not really impressive,

You ain’t wrong, the thompsons just aren’t good enough.

But hey, since USSR has three versions of the same assault rifle between tech tree and premium, maybe the US could get the gold order M2A1 carbine as a tech tree AR

They should change the m2 carbine to an assaulter weapon. It fits with assaulters better than as a general purpose rifle. They should change the AVS/T and fg42 to gunner or assaulter weapons also. Select fire weapons should go to the classes that wield automatics exclusively.

Agreed. No full-auto for non-specialists, full stop.

A thing I just thought of:

To be fair, restricting all full auto to specialists like the gunner/assaulter will be handing even more of an unfair advantage to vets like me with access to most of the legacy squads. I can death stack at two or three BRs, without re-using squads or equipment. I shouldn’t have to, mind, because the squad presets should include equipment, but that’s a separate issue.

“BUH BUH BUH!! MUH HIGHER RATE OF FIRE MAKES IT OP!!11”
Finally someone else who understands this. The community way back in 2021 was complaining about the PPD for the longest time and we all just learnt to get used to it. Today is no different except the German mains are up in arms on trying to get the guns uptiered to unreasonable levels.

Disregarding the ‘counter to AR’ thing, as I said the Thompson and STG are complete different classes of gun… However, where were you during the time Tunisia Allies were stomping the Axis constantly with said Thompsons and drum mag Thompsons when the Axis had 3-4 versions of the Beretta M38 in that campaign?

In real life the differences between 9mm and 45acp are actually very very neglectable, at least if we talk about standard projectiles, hollowpoints though don’t necessarily need velocity to be devastating.
