Mortar needs nerf

Had a round with a nonstop mortar user again and it was unplayable. When you are not killed, you have a shelshock and cant aim. And it was only one player. What if two players do this.
He had double the Kills of everyone else. I know some people think mortar is not overpored but then it seems to me that they are simply not competent.

The score board showed a trend…people were leaving…

I mostly agree. Btw third-person moratar view can be tricky too. For example I made a three supplies mortar position behind damaged tank. I see every enemy come closer than 50 meters. Guy who wants to hit me by knife were hitted. Tank who wants drive over me were blown. Third person mortar have a great view and hard to eliminate.

I have to partly disagree. Simply because mortars were already nerfed and its not really mortars that is making them OP. Judging by your statement of “nonstop shooting” Its most likely ammo supply built by engineers that is actually to blame…
And here we are again in engineer problem. You see, this runs far deeper than just “its mortars that are OP” I mean sure, they are strong, however if you think they are OP now, you should see them before nerfs.
So… amount of squads with mortars that can be spawned at the same time should be limited on 1-2 and mortar squads shouldnt be able to get more ammunition from engineers.
That should do it.

I would like to see a counter tactic for the mortar. The way it is now, people can stay within their spawn and fire mortars. They become extremely difficult this way and they also get the spawn protection.

I would suggest limiting the range of mortars since the map is extremely small. And they should have very few rounds .as well as making mortar shells unobtainable from the ammo boxes. Which means you don’t really have a lot of room for errors. It will force players with mortars to be careful as to where they are firing it. It will also force them to play objectives once they’ve run out of ammo.

The most simple fix would be preventing mortars from firing within their spawn. That way they can be countered with relative ease.

Mortars are real op. You got three supplies, you got artillery strike, you got non-stop shelling at the defensive point and nobody can reach it as well.

for myself i really like to play the Bomber, but there is just way tooo less comunication going on so i cant be really helpful :smiley:

2 things to note are that
1: They are now practically useless in attacking anything that is not a capture point as map aim is no longer a thing and cap points are the only things that have their distance from you displayed on them.
2: Mortar shells take a long time to reach their target, meaning you can not shell moving targets.

This means that if you nerf the mortar beyond disallowing them from being used in spawn and disallowing them from using the engi’s supply points, they would become utterly useless.

Last time i got 45 kills by defending one point this way. Just to see how it can be. It works

But have you ever tried to use it in any other way?
Because that is the only thing it does. And it only does it when the cap does not have a roof
Meaning they are practically useless outside those scenario’s. Better buy the premium account time once that comes out to get +1 infantry squad and +1 vehicle squad in matches I guess

Why are you compare mortar fire and Premium pass?
I mean while I playing soviet side - its realy hard for krauts to capture open point or come close to point in buliding. Extremely hard

Mortars are very situational. Nerf them more and they become useless outside of one specific scenario, meaning you would never want to bring it out as the 3rd squad unless you know you could use it. Which is only possible with the premium account time that was leaked

I have mortar in signaller team with enginer, assault, lmg, smg and rifleman.

That’s a single mortar then, not dedicated mortar squad.

If you nerfed the ability to use ammo crates with them that single mortar guy kinda useless

Yes, and while im call artillery strike at point and buy some time i build supplies ans start firing shells.

I think reduce fire speed is the only way to make this mortar not so deadly beast.

Indeed. Mortairs are very close to be useless and unwanted as a squad.

Indeed. I dont see any reason why i need it if i can mix it with others. Btw to fire 15 shells per minute mortar needs at least two members.

stationary weapon available for everyone makes 80+ kills in 8 minutes, but people complain about mortairs :man_facepalming:
