Mortar needs nerf

Because stationary weapon can be shot down on one hit and cannot fire from cover behind houses at your spawn with unlimited ammo supply from engineers.
Mortars are fine, ammo supply for them from engineers isnt.

Well, did someone shot this guy? Techically yes, at the end of the battle when he won solo and iit was literally too late.

You can kill mortair soldier too, if you really want too. Its just you dont really need to, because stationary weapon is an issue that you ‘should’ eliminate if yo want to win, while mortair is just a random guy having fun somewhere behind the screnes.

Mortars with unlimited ammo supply can actually decide whole battle if used correctly while nobody can do anything about them as they are in best possible cover. stationary MG can be destroyed on one hit for good (until another one is built which takes time that you usually dont have under heavy fire). I´m not defending MG nests, to be honest one of the biggest problems with engineers is that they can build this and keep most of the enemy team in check unless somebody gets lucky enough to get a chance to shoot it down). Thing with mortar is, there is no chance to shoot it down… at all.
And surprisingly enough, I would be fine with it IF mortarmen wouldn´t also have unlimited ammo supply right under their noses to keep this spam for an entire game. I don´t want to eliminate fun from mortars either, just stop ways of abusing it.

So you are saying we can practically kill a mortar soldier inside their spawn? We have to get past the spawn protection with enough health to be able to kill him without getting killed in return, often you have to sacrifice 2-3 soldiers just to throw 1 grenade to the mortar guy. Sometimes, if he is far enough inside of the spawn protection zone, you can’t even approach him without dying.

Yes you can.

Well, killing a tank or stationary mg sometimes requires even more. By the way, there are many others you cant kill easily, camping tanks, camping snipers, airplanes.

Once you know where one of those are, you can counter them appropiately. Mortars, however, when used right, can not be killed because of the aforementioned spawn protection.

With sacrifice I specifically mean when you got a squad ready specifically to counter the thing. So, for example, if you brought snipers to deal with MGs, you can take them out by peeking out of a window and shooting the gun. Explosives also work on these

With tanks, you can bring AT rifles (sure, PTRD has issues but that is unrelated to this, with the PzB you can do it and once the PTRD is fixed you can do it with it as well) and snipe crew from afar, or simply bring some explosive packs

With enemy snipers, you can counter snipe or rush them from cover

With planes, you can build AA

Each of these have a specific counter that’s highly effective and a general counter, capable of being used by any squad, that is moderately effective. In the meanwhile, unless you go plane or mortar, you can not take out the enemy mortar team. There is no universal way of dealing with them without requiring you to sacrifice soldiers by walking into the enemy spawn. Even then, that does not give good odds at killing the mortar squad.

@5762269 yes, and no, after all you can use aircraft as counter part. The only thing i can agree - is that its not nice when people camp outside of game area. However this is not mortair related, it has started with tanks, it requires separate thread and its not the main point of compains, as people mostly dislike ‘mortair spam’ with ammo boxes and this is another story.

I cant agree that mortair are OP. You can literally shred enemy team with stationary MG without any need to restock ammo, with much less skill needed, with much less progression needed, with every squad and every soldier once mounted. But when it comes to skilled part, where you actually need to think, need to grind, need to know how to use, adjust, learn and only then successully use mortair - people start wining saying its unfair…

Mortairs are fine. Thats my opinion.

Campers outside play area is an issue, but again, its not what actually makes mortair usefull, its just a side effect and map design isssue

mortar was overpowered in the alpha, right now its still very good when used by attackers,.

not everyone brings planes, they are not an universal solution. They also are rather difficult to use as counter due to the low render distance.

That is why I have always proposed to limit weapon usage when inside spawn. Forcing the mortars out of cover could solve the ammo box issue by making them more easily counterable.

I never said they were OP. I only said they couldn’t be countered by normal means. Which is a diffrent kind of unfair.
