AI Soldier that automatically goes around squad and detects and deactivates AP/AT mines
Soldier would have minesweeper device as secondary weapon, if squad isn’t taking fire, he has his minesweeper out instead of a rifle, once squad starts taking fire he switches back to his rifle.
So I need a special soldier (who can simply die due to AI being stupid) to counter mines that every single enemy soldier can have and can place with no effort. It doesn’t sound like a good deal.
(Also no, you don’t need minesweepers. They just make things faster and safer.)
It would be a nice addition to a 9 man riflemen squad
idk, sometime I try to cap or take out an emeny rally and loose 3 different soldiers in the process becuase they mined tf out of the area and it would be nice if AI just swept for it
It’s kinda like how an AT gunner is worthless if you don’t encounter a tank, but if you do, youre sure as hell glad you had one
In a fast-paced game I really cannot imagine this being of any use. Not to mention how silly it would look with an ai soldier zipping around and picking up mines, which is what they would have to do for them to be of any use whatsoever. Even if player controlled I’m sure the disarm would be either ridiculously short and/or too tedious for anyone to bother with when they can just shoot the mine.
A far better solution would be to simply increase the placement time for mines and give it a proper animation rather than our soldiers simply plopping them down.
I don’t see how your idea is superior. Actually I think it’s far inferior because it adds a new, limited class that has a very narrow purpose - to counter mine spam.
That’s my issue. It simply doesn’t add up imo.
If something is used in large numbers, it’s counter also should be available in large numbers.
Dumb.
If no one plays with mines it is us
Y y. eless. AI currently cannot even find mines and I do not want to rely on AI as well.
Also, will not solve mine spam because they require more time to remove them than to deploy them.
Yes the game can be fast paced, but theres these 30-45 second gaps in combat that happen for different reasons.
When I hunt rallies there’s usually no one within a solid 25-50m, or their attention is in a different direction
Say I’m 100m out and trying to set up a flanking MG nest, 7/10 times you wont encounter a single enemy, giving your sweeper ample time to clear the area, because it sucks ball having your 1 engineer get AP mined after you treked out to your spot
Also alot of times when I cap, it goes down like this, my team and I just killed all the enemies on the objective, things get quiet for a good 15-30 seconds before the enemy can counter, plenty of time for your bot to deactivate a mine or two.
Yeah, at this point it’s pretty clear you’re just defending your idea. Which I think is a good idea, it’s not a zero sum game man, both of our ideas can compliment each other. I like your part about the mine icon popping up.
But that perk should have to cost around 5 points IMO to not completely Nerf mines, and I wouldn’t burn that on a class like MG/Assault etc, so it would have to be like a radioman or rifleman, and it would suck having to switch back and forh from you damage dealing classes just to detect mines that you then have to destroy, having AI do it would be much better in such a fast past game
what does yy mean? does it mean something or just a typo?
AI could find mines if they we’re programmed to, but I hear ya, they’re programmed to go through windows too and we all know how that works out sometimes
I think it would really help your team too for them taking out tank mines
