MG34 Patronentrommel takes up 1/3 of screen

Can anything be done with the MG34 patronentrommel’s view model when aiming? It is absurdly disruptive and ugly. Literally takes over 1/3 of the screen. Even the ranging marks and sight is obstructed.

Wait, the MG34 gets the 75 round double drums? Which campaign? I can’t find that anywhere.

Berlin

Thanks, found it right before I saw your response.

I’m just…not gonna get heated about the idea that the Axis in Berlin get the FG42 for troops, a different version that wasn’t a different version IRL for snipers, a high-cap MG34 with a magazine meant for AA/Static defense that was pulled from service before Berlin, the MG42 and the Sturmgewehr. I hope never to see an argument that says Germany has inferior equipment in Berlin.

They don’t get the optics variant in Berlin nor do they get the sturmgewehr (they probably will though)

you’re right, my mistake.

They get two different iron sights versions that are still the same gun. That’s so much better.

And I guess I just assumed they had the Sturmgewehr.

They have the VG1-5 which is a semi-auto rifle shooting the 7.92x33 Kurz projectile.

I’m pretty stoked that there’s two volksturm weapons in the game, my inner history and gun nerd loves that.

From a historical standpoint, I’m pretty sure the STG wouldn’t have made it to the defense of Berlin in large numbers, but I’m prepared to be wrong there. I’m absolutely certain none of the FG42s made it to Berlin, since they were all on the western front and largely captured or destroyed by the western allies’ advance. I won’t say they should be removed, but I don’t like it, you know?

There was a recent historical photo of a dead Axis soldier lying in Berlin, with an fg-42 lying next to him

There’s a photo of a dead fallschirmjaeger equipped with a FG-42 lying on a street in Berlin. FG42s did in fact make it to Berlin and I’m sure STG44s did.

I would have personally preferred to see the full depth of Volks gewehr weapons added before more traditional arms. There’s a lot of last ditch weapons that were made, variants, prototypes I’d like to see in Berlin.

where on earth did you get the idea that two of the best and latest war weapons wouldn’t have been in germany’s last stand? they weren’t all on the western front. germany was way more scared of the ruskis than they were of us.

For FG 42’s it is pretty easy to see where they might have been - FG42’s were used by para’s only - and 1/4 of all those made were with 2nd para division that fought in the west

How many para divisions were in Berlin?

Looking them up on wiki - looks like 9th and 10th were on the Eastern Front, with 9th near Berlin, 10th in Austria

So only 1 “new” para division was in Berlin - all the others fought and surrendered in the West. I have no idea how many FG42’s it might have had.

Guess you answered your own question then.

No need to guess -that is exactly what I did - on the basis that if I want something done properly I need to do it myself (or not…)

WE know that 9th Fallschirmjaeger Div was formed in late 1944 from non-combat Luftwaffe personnel. It broke a couple of times at Seelowe, was part of a breakout attempt from Berlin on 1/2 May, and effectively ceased to exist after that.

Other than that there seems to be no detailed info on it, no specific photos of it.

Cant’ see that its presence in Berlin justifies more than 1 Premium Squad armed with 1 or 2 FG42’s among the usual KAR’s

Apparently there is actually a published work on the war history of the 9th FJ Div -

Die 9. Fallschirmjägerdivision im Kampf um Pommern, Mark Brandenburg und Berlin".- Ausarbeitung von Gerd Wagner

Perhaps someone who can read German can get it and let us know!

Thanks for clarifying. I hadn’t noticed.
