Medics… when the dev first announce that medic is coming to stalingrad, i thought we were getting a class that went for a teamwork playstyle. Instead what we get is a 5 man assault class and thats it.
“But medics are meant to keep your stay in shape” well heres a couple of problems.
Medic box im glad i could replenish medkits in battle but no one seems to taking any or placing medic box. and if they do, im guessing they mistaken it for an ammo since they have similar icon on the map
finally the revive system. this where the teamwork should be present in the game. I noticed that you rarely get revived by medics. obviously you’re using the medkit you brought to battle. But whats the point of having medic when they can’t do their job right ?
My suggestion there should be indicator for downed players and medic box (ammo box should have it too) it helps medic players to find and help their fallen comrades. its common sense, they will risk their life and limb to earn that poi- i mean to save you
IIRC there is an indicator. It is a slightly small white cross in a white hallowed out circle. It should be more defined if that was the point you were trying to make. But yeah… medics are basically Assaulter I squad with no other soldiers inside of it besides Assaulter wielding war crimers.
There should be icons where players are downed and can be revived.
They honestly should have a BA and not a SMG because tbh, i’d rather use them as a Assaulter since there is no Assaulter I early on.
They should have some automatic benefits to quicker healing for themselves
I place medic boxes occasionally, but they’re super small in comparison to Ammo boxes, and they are probably missed (if they don’t have an icon, idk if they do or not) and the game goes to fast normally for people to even use them. If they are using them, they don’t add score for each use like Engineer does now.
Overall, I think Medics can be made to be a good class, and shouldn’t be scrapped. It’s just the implementation and weapon choices seem to be making it worse when all the features themselves are good.
Medics were a bad idea to begin with…
People who were skeptical about them in every single suggestion were (of course) correct…
If devs would not give them SMGs, that class would not be used at all… and since they have at least those SMGs, they are just assaulters with extra steps.
In Stalingrad, that is probably harmless, but when this bs gets released on rest of the campaigns, it would be easy to create 7 man squad where 6 are equipped fully with automatic weapons, without even using SF rifles…
THAT is major bullshit.
My suggestion there should be indicator for downed players…
Well actually, there is. When a teammate is downed or injured, there will be an icon that replaces the little blue arrow over their head. can’t miss it as it changes a triangle into a circle
finally the revive system. this where the teamwork should be present in the game. I noticed that you rarely get revived by medics. obviously you’re using the medkit you brought to battle. But whats the point of having medic when they can’t do their job right ?
Well a good chunk of the time it isn’t that easy for a medic to get to you, whether it be due to way too many enemies and you being in the open, or they’re too busy dealing with other teammates. I personally am trying to just chase down injured players just to heal them up, so I had to get the sprint speed perk on my medics, but sometimes even with all of that, there’s just a sniper to take out the medics. Not to mention there’s most likely people just using medics as assaulters only since they don’t have an assaulter class yet.
…and medic box (ammo box should have it too)…
I genuinely hope this is something that comes along though, I’ve sometimes had the struggles of trying to find out WHERE the ammo / medic boxes are when I kind of need to hurry up before an enemy finds me.
The revive mechanic is a little bit weird in the first place but also pointless since you mostly will be reviving AI that just got fired upon and it doesn’t make any sense to risk your own life for AI. You could just better secure the surroundings and simply wait for him to heal up.
So what could be done better about this pointless class? Well I would prefer that if apart from being able to drop crates the AI medic would run automatically to friendly troops that are either in a downed kneeling state or hurt and helps them, at least gathering you points this way. That would require of course a proper AI which we currently unfortunately don’t have.
So all we can do is watch some red cross “non-combatants” shred through enemy lines with their SMGs/AVTs/MKbs in the most unhistorical fashion ever imagineable.
I may be the outlier here, but I’ve had pretty decent success and fun using the medic class.
Business tends to pick up after a bombardment or when some fool in a tank is standing off trying to concuss the ever-loving snot out of people.
The other time I’ve had a lot of activity was right after the lead element took a point (the 2nd point on Communist Street, I think) I was able to catch up with some of the stragglers (mostly AI, although I have chased down a player or two) and net about 180 points pretty quickly.
Other times I’ve tried to lag behind support units and top up when they start drawing fire.
But mostly the medic is a living mop to help clean up the messes from arty, plane bombs and tank fire.
One recommendation I would make for the medkit box is to place it at a forward or flank position, and always near an ammo box. At least then people will hopefully notice it and, if needed, make use of it. I haven’t played the medic as much once I maxed out the squad (which didn’t take long, of course) but I just bought some more medics today along with some engineers, so we’ll see how that plays out tomorrow.
And this is a tangent, but I honestly do not understand why people put ammo boxes near Rally Points. I have yet to need more ammo right after I’ve respawned…
That’s not entirely true. The medic box is extremely useful, and if you put a medic in a squad, they’d be able to drop one, and an engineer would drop a ammo box. It would essentially mean your guys could live longer and you wouldn’t need to take a backpack filled with medkits. I do think them having a BA would make more sense, since the SMG encourages CQC which means they have to run into battle, instead of a medic staying at longer ranges with a BA and reviving people.
I think that’s very situational. In a game where youre often dead after a single hit medpacks naturally are rather… weird.
Also in an offensive role you wont see medic boxes being used even if you manage to drop one of near or even on the point of capture. Now if you actually get a capable team that manages to properly hold and defend a point, full of +35 vitality chaps, thats something different but how often does this occur?
