With the recent patch announcement there was mention of making BR 5 ±1 based on player feedback.
While this is great news for BR 3 (thanks guys ), ±0 is still preferable. (Baby steps)
Having said that I would like to take a moment to remember that BR 1 is perhaps most deserving of a BR ±0 lockout. (Veterans might be more interested in their higher BR toys, but not all) Afterall, this is the opening experience to Enlisted for NEW players…you want these guys to get hooked.
For the new player (or even a well geared BR 1 player), the Difference between BR 1 and 2 is at its most significant.
TL: DR Change BR 1 to only fight BR 1
It is the only BR that doesn’t have access to all the core equipment needed (nor the players likely to be equipped) to function in Enlisted, specifically when facing BR 2 (which is very well equipped and popular, partly because of this)…
Summary Features of BR 1 vs BR 2
BR 2 has:
APCs (the same ones used in BR 3)
AT Launchers (Still effective against most BR 3 tanks)
Strong Fighter/Attacker planes (many better than or one a simliar level to the BR 3 options)
Strong 75mm tanks (some of the Best HE throwers in the game, capable of cracking BR 3 tanks)
Comparable SMGS to BR 3
The only thing it lags behind BR 3 in Is MGs and Semi Autos. (but still has access to some)
BR 1 has
AT rifles that aren’t effective against BR 2 tanks
Some Strong planes (that I wouldn’t mind betting will get their BR changed soon)
Low RoF and small mag SMGs that mostly aren’t comparable to BR 2 smgs
No MGS
No APCs
No semi autos
The best Bolt action rifles are mostly BR 2
New players
New players do not start with core infantry classes “NECESSARY” to play Enlisted, especially Engineers, nor do they have their squads leveled to “attach engineers”. And they are not likely to work out they can do this for a long time.
New players start with snipers
New players equipment inventories are at their lowest point and are not ready for up tiers into the sweet spot of BR 2 (they have no mines, large backpacks or large ammo pouches)
Don’t have access to APC rally points, or potent Tank guns.
Anti-tank/Vehicle
AT Rifles are quite good in BR 1 -+0 but completely ineffective when but into a BR 2 game against the favorite vehicles. This is the “Only BR” left that’s primary infantry ANTI tank weapon does not work in an up tier. All other BRs can (AT launchers). BR 2 is rampant with tank farmers, mainly because this is the sweet spot for “** The least resistance from infantry**”.
I see BR 2 tanks farming all the time, and its mostly not because how amazing the tanks are, but because players are short on tools, or the know how to remove them. It’s quite common to see these tanks ignored while they farm.
Lack of Engineers means less likely to have access to AT Field guns
Completely reliant on select BR 1 Vehicles/Planes or getting close with Explosive packs and knowing how to cook them. (Not likely for new players learning the game)
Automatic Meta
BR 1 has limited automatics with starter SMGS (and they are decent), but because of the popularity of BR 2 and the high availability of good SMGS, MGS and semi autos in BR 2…it can be quite oppressive
Paired with a Popular BR
BR 2 is very popular and has a great assortment of powerful and interesting equipment, along with being perhaps the best-balanced BR of all.
As such there is no shortage of players in queue waiting, meaning that more often than not, Those BR 1 players are going to end up seeing them.
Conclusion
Its a pretty rough initiation into the game at BR 1 when you frequently fighting up hill.
It really should BR 1 ±0 to provide a more even playing field as a first impression.
I had a strange idea. What if all the BR2 weapons similar to the PPS43 and tanks like the Pz3N or M3 Li were transferred to BR3. And then BR1 and BR2 were separated from BR3. Create a separate sandbox for beginners.
well, that was the general Idea we argued about when they first merged enlisted. But because PPS 42/43 emerged from merge at BR 2 while everything else was at BR 3, instead of it moving it up and whatever else, they moved everything else down.
you can even find posts in my history and others wanting the smgs to return to BR 3
So its not a strange idea, I think it rather decent. However now that its been this way and adjusted this way for over a year. I think perhaps easier just to add BR 1 ±0 lockout
I like the Idea of BR1 as a standalone (actually I think that all BR could be like that, but this seems difficult to achieve in the current state of the game…)
But I have disagree with the suggestion of pushing everything good at BR2 to BR3… That would make BR1 and 2 almost indentical, or at least way too similar, while a lot of stuff would be at BR3 and would never see the light. Sure PzIII N could work in BR3, same for the PPS, but… M3 Lee ? There would be no point in ever playing this for instance
Gap between BR 2 and BR 3 is nowhere near as large as between BR 1 and 2. All the important tools in BR 2 function just aswell at BR 3…(BR 1 doesn’t even have those tools)
In my opinion there is a greater difference between BR2 and BR3 that there is between BR1 and BR2. BR1 players can easily take on BR2 tanks.
To me the main problem to attract new players and keep them is that teammatching solely is based on what weapons you have - not soldiers and gear.
I often see new BR1 players desperately circle between their 3-man squads of 1-star level 1 rifleman, medic and sniper while they get minched by veteran players with 6-man squads of all perked up 6-star lvl 3 or 4 assaulters with 3-star BR1 weapons and the silver to gear them up with grenades, TNT and backpacks.
Is it likely for new players to enjoy such an ecounter? I doubt it. But I guess that the veteran player who had a match where he had 100+ kills did.
really, i view the BR1 tier as a beginner tier that people should be encouraged to grow out of as soon as possible. A lot of people here want to dedicate themselves to BR1 but my belief is that BR2 should be the standard “low tier” rating
