So my infantry 1 squad is max level with 5 upgrade points extra either, once all upgrades are unlocked make that the max level of the squad or for a price make them transferable to other squads. but only the points that are extra.

They’re not “extra” they’re currently unused. The final soldier upgrade and the 4 final weapon upgrades still haven’t been implemented yet
I’m uncertain if they ever will 
We used to be able to see those perks, even if they remained locked. Now they’re removed completely.
Just as well, I don’t think they are necessary

It’s better this way.
We vets don’t really need even more powerful men, having access to tier 4 soldiers and max star weapons.
With the prices things have, it would create an ever greater gap between us and new players f2p.

actually, if you think about it, it’s interesting that DF allows it, in every match the veterans dominate the game completely. I mean, the game is already arcade-like enough for the player to dominate others regardless, but with all the upgrades to weapons and soldiers… I remember the first time I unlocked AVS and I was like “this weapon isn’t that good at all” and then I upgraded it to the max… a completely different weapon.

Its useful when they update certain squads and you have the upgrade point to use immediately.
Such as when HMGs and AT squad cannons were added

those were given to you by default if you passed a threshold.
only if the blue tech tree was completed.
i remember that bot my stalingrad axis and allies machinegunners squad weren’t fully completed on the red tree & yellow,
but despite the blue being completely filled, DF just gifted me those points to accomodate the heavy machineguns.

currently, we do not need those points sitting there when we could use them elsewhere.
after all, we had to grind them. and the tree doesn’t lack other squads where those point could be used.

Didn’t you have the one spare point that was prepared for “veteran soldiers”? Since all squads could get one spare point which they couldn’t use at the moment.

to a point where you have a surpluss of points that were designed for veterans perks.
That’s what I meant. Since I never obtained any point for free. Not even for HMGs or so.

in my case, i always spend all points quickly and impulsively.
which, in the Snipergrad machinegunners, points were gifted to me. it’s why i was able to to buy said machineguns.
p.s. now that we are talking about it, i do remember that the same happened with my flamethrower squad in normandy for the axis. 0 surplus, yet a point was gifted so i could get the ampoulette.
i didn’t had unused points. i never do.
unless it’s a squad that i fully researched.
( which it’s rare too. because i often switched as soon all 3 trees were completed. i didn’t wasted time reusing the same squad to get additional points that i don’t need for upgrade that most likely will never see the light in many, many years )
however, now i do i have surplus of points that would be great to spend elsewhere because of HA squads that i use over customs.
I highly doubt DF gave you any points with release of HMGs. I don’t remember receiving any.

you sure you didnt earn it in some event? cause i remember earning levels for squads in tunisia that i didnt play at the time.
