The latest event task -Kill 50 enemies as a Medic- made me realise how fun the class itself really is. Running around the objective with a SMG and saving downed allies, helping the team with medboxes while getting a lot of juicy XP for being a good teammate.
The class itself is useful, but the entire squad is not so much, lack of pouches or secondary weapons limits the squad´s role. The upside used to be that you got five SMG wielding men instead of the usual four but nowadays only new players use medic squads until they unlock assaulter squads because having five SMGs outside of premium squads is no longer unique.
Veterans that unlocked Stalingrad and Pacific squads can also field 5 SMGs in assaulter squads if they upgrade the squad with a medic.
There are six paratrooper squads that come/can get equipped with six SMGs.
The recent guerrilla squads come with five SMGs, built in big ammo pouch, they have a secondary weapon slot and can pick up enemy weapons with full ammo.
To make the medic squads interesting again, they should receive a 6th squad member in the form of an engineer.
The squad upgrade increases the squad’s maximum crew members from 5 to 6 but only allows engineers to be equipped on the 6th slot.
This would solve the squad´s two primary issues: limited ammo capacity and inability to build rallies.
Also this will motivate new players to unlock and use the engineers.
Honestly I think they should make med boxes slowly heal people nearby because I rarely use med boxes because I rarely need to heal because of either instantly being killed or what ever.
I would like to see engineers in medic squads, but realistically if it was to happen I bet that tech tree medic squads would loose 1 medic to gain a engineer. So 4 medics 1 engineer, so they can be on par with the premium medic and assault squads.
That would really turn medics into early stage assaulters, which would be a huge shame.
IMO instead of working on new classes, Darkflow should make already existing classes interesting, like the rider class which is nothing more than a gimmick.
Medics really need to have an effect on Ticket bleed.
Lots of games do this via revive, that might not work for enlisted being a squad system.
But somehow using medics to reclaim tickets.
Maybe build a Medic station that recovers fallen soldiers in the vacinity (like company of hereos), once enough have been recovered, the team recovers tickets.
They need to be able to carry big ammo pouches. Ammo disappears too quickly if you only have a single smg. And lack of engineer make them completely useless of a squad.
Honestly I think they would be more useful alone if the AI would automatically top up their medkits, or at least do it when you the squad leader does it.
I have always liked the Medic squads, mostly because it gives me another assaulter squad. The only drawback I could see was not being able to carry an ammo pack, and it would be nice if they added medic squads that could have at least one engineer. I do add medic to squads that give you a choice, so when they had the kill 50 with medics I had my one medic squad I got way back when it was a level one squad, and a couple other squads I had added one medic to, so that gave me a total of seven medics to go after the 50 kill goal.
