As they stand now, Semi Auto’s are arguable the weakest primary weapons in the game. Less fire rate (and oftentimes damage) than the end game Auto Rifle’s/M2 Carbine, and less damage and consistency than all the Bolties. I want to see weapon stats start to reflect reality and have logic behind them. Not arbitrary numbers for “balance.” The greatest example I can give is the M1903 and the M1 Garand. You know the literal only difference between these two rifles? 2,800 ft/s and, well the Garand seems to vary from source to source, but it’s looking to be about 2,740 ft/s to 2,800 ft/s. So at most around 60 feet per second difference. So why do these two rifles, using the exact same bullet, same barrel length, same muzzle velocity, and same twist rate. Just about everything that needs to be identical for identical ballistics is so. So why on God’s Green Earth do these guns have entirely different damage stats? It doesn’t make a single lick of sense! So I think DF needs to redo Semi Auto Rifles across the board and make them able to compete with the damage of Bolties and the damage output of Full Auto’s
Honestly I think the entire damage state should be reworked from the ground up. For the most logic and consistency, we should take one round out of one gun and use it as a base. Then tune every gun around it based on ballistics because that makes sense. I suggest the 7.92 out of the Kar98k for this base. It’s only logical as it’s based on the gun that all but a couple Bolties used during WWI, and by extension WWII, were based on. We then extrapolate every single gun’s damage stat based on how its ballistics compare to a Kar98k and we have solid consistency and reasoning behind every damage stat on every weapon. Bigger, faster bullets do more damage. Slower, smaller bullets do less. When the ballistics are identical, so are the damage stats. No more made up bullcrap. Cough M1903 and M1 cough
It’s for balancing, a long time ago semi autos had almost the same damage as bolt actions, which made bolt actions entirely obsolete, the same will happen again if that’s done, and wouldn’t fix the issue of them being worse than full autos, that’s more of a BR 3 problem than anything else.
And besides, that would set the precedent for all LMG’s and full-autos to have bolt action damage, it wouldn’t really be fun gameplay to fight someone who is guaranteed to instantly kill your entire team with a single bullet
You are mistaken, the damage of bolt-action rifles was the same as that of semi-automatic rifles, after they made it so that the bolt-action rifles were shot, the damage was increased by 2 times
their damage is quite perfect relative to bolties and assault rifles.
their only significant problem is the lack of their own queue (BR 3+4) to separate them from BR5.
—> all problems solved
I don’t want segregation and isolation. I want competitiveness and satisfaction. 30-06 is 30-06 regardless of if the gun firing it is a Boltie, Semi, or Full Auto
Dispersion makes semi autos indeed bad, not damage, if at least the shots would go where you aim at we wouldn’t have this discussion.
MGs were completely overpowered before the big dispersion nerf, but why were semi autos ever effected by this? Semi Autos were never ever in the history of Enlisted overperforming, yet in the past they received 2 massive nerfs - first the big rate of fire nerf back in beta, and then the big dispersion update.
Was is the devs trying to make bolt actions performance mach semi autos?
Back in the day we used to cry about bolt actions being useless, however this was specifically about them not killing in one shot due to the vitality perk.
