Make mortars aim like in BF3

Then I guess instead or nerfing guns we should add 2 additional buttons to press to reload. Makes total sense.
“Annoyance” shouldn’t be a balance mechanic.

Wrong kind of game I’m afraid. Enlisted is run&gun as you’ve said yourself.
And that’s why imo aiming with mortars should be changed to fit the pacing of the game.

i suppose it’s a matter of personal opinion.

but, weapons do not need more extra steps.

support weapons do.

you see, the difference are the targets and potentiality.

infantry > infantry & tanks

support weapons > infantry

Tank > infantry & vehicles

Td > tanks

tanks > airplanes.

might not make too much sense, but think about it.

mortars, radio artillery etc requires a bit of time, positioning etc.
which arguably can deal a huge blow if done right.

that blow means less enemy infantry on the point.

rifles, just point and fire.
it’s direct.

indrect fire requires on the other hand, to aim, prefict, time the shells and fire.

which you can in most cases kill alot of people.
without ever approaching or having the risk of taking fire ( unless from airplanes ).

but again, that’s sort of how i see it.

i would have prefered if anti tank rifles were all like the S18.

make this a bit more dynamic due to their killing potential.

i rest my case.

I guess? Personally I’d rather make mortars more convenient to use and nerf them in other ways. I don’t like my tools being annoying to use.

not sure how would you nerf even more than what they already have been nerfed.

again, perhaps personal preferences, but they are fine as they are. after all it’s easy kills if connects, waste of time if it doesn’t.

I guess I agree here.

The current system of aiming the mortar is not just some “more annoying” version of the BF3 system, it works in a completely different manner.

Well, I am not sure about values in Alpha but explosives (especially shrapnels) in general used to be pretty dope in old days until they finally nerfed them.

BF:

  • deploy mortar
  • look at the minimap
  • use mouse to aim
  • fire

Enlisted:

  • deploy mortar
  • open the map and place a marker
  • use mouse to aim
  • fire

Imo the core is exactly the same.

Yes this is irrelevant, it indeed doesn’t apply to Enlisted - but dont forget, emotional damage and ptsd are real, I can totally understand when people react “negatively” when they hear: lets make mortars like BF3.

Noshar Canals mortar spam was horribly annoying.

We had that in the second closed beta I think along with hijacking enemy vehicles but Darkflow removed both because a stolen tank wasn’t removed from your teams armor slot and I don’t know why they removed the aiming reticule as it stands Mortars are too reliant on the team to be effective.

Honestly this would make mortars much more usable, cause really the way they are set up is far more clunky than it really should. Of course just remove the automatic spotting of enemies since that would just make them far more powerful than they really should.
