Make building a staged process

Currently engineers’ buildings just materialise whne they are finished. My proposal is to make building a two staged process.

Stage one is when building is finished in 50%. Then the blueprint is swaped to a building that is not yet usable but is a phisical object seen by everybody.
For example:

  • Flak will be displayed as a Flak on a trailer

  • MG nest will be displayed as sandbags with a tripod but without a gun
    image

  • Sandbag wall will be displayed as a small pile of sandbags

  • Barbed wire will be displayed as wooden supports but without wire

  • AT gun will be displayed with supports in transport position and with the muzzle covered
    image

Stage two is when the building is finished in 100% and it works just like now.


The goal is to simulate construction a bit better than just summoning a building.

sounds solid, its safe to say that im tired aswell of just plopping shit down and having it immediatly functional. also what about ammo boxes? cause my idea could be simple: first stage deploys much rare ammo, second stage deploys the average ammo

surely it would be more logical to reverse this? Stage one would be the common ammo types (pistol/ rifle)? and then increase to rarer ammo types from there?

yeah but first stage will ensure that you cannot easily get the common ammo, otherwise people will just simply build first stage and never the 2nd one, making the 2nd stage pointless

I’m not sure if a construction consisting of 3 boxes can be simplified. Maybe one box?

This reminds me of the mount and blade napoleanic engineer building system, I like it.

i think the ammo box should have stages depending on what ammo each country used the most

for example americans:

-1 box of 30-06 (7.62x63)
-1 box of .30 carbine (7.62x33)
-1 box of .45 ACP (11.43x23 ACP)
-1 box of 9x19
-1 box of 7.7x56R
-a pack of rockets

or russians:

-1 box of 7.62x54R
-1 box of 7,62x25
-1 box of 6.35x15
-1 box of 7.62x38R
-1 box of 7.62x39

or german:

-1 box of 7.92x57
-1 box of 7.92x33 (stalingrad, normandy, moscow and berlin)
-1 box of 9x19
-1 box of 9x25 (stalingrad)
-1 box of 7.63x25
-1 box of 7.65x17
-a pack of rockets (normandy)
-3 panzerfausts (normandy, berlin, also you cant take all 3 at once)

or italian:

-1 box of 6.5x52
-1 box of 7.35x51
-1 box of 8x59
-1 box of 9x19
-1 box of 9x17

yeah sorry it gets more and more complicated depending on the countries, and some countries used way more ammo types than others, which could easily cripple the fighting abilities of them, such as italians and germans, because of ammo issues

edit: now that i think about it, we should throw in to the list the grenades, because theres currently no way of replenishing grenades on every soldier.

I IN!!!, absulute like the ideia.

I disagree the game is too fast-paced for that right now. I would like a timer before the game starts that would allow building stuff though. Because now it’s hit or miss if I play an engineer. It’s either you end up losing the first cap fast and don’t have time to build or you dig in and build some really fortified stuff.
Plus what you have suggested may cause a problem what if a person who wanted to build something died but the object is still left unfinished and blocking the way for other people to build their stuff or move.

pretty sures hes just asking for buildings animations not longer builds time

Ah, now I got it. In this case yeah it does make sense.

yeah, maybe even separate the ammo into 2 or more pallet types, cause theres so many right now
