I absolutely would NOT want my AI soldiers to automatically shoot enemy rally points, unless I SPECIFICALLY order them to do so.
It’s already a tough job to run around placing AP mines on every rally point I find, no need to make it even harder.

Supposedly the AI react to sound and only scan visually when an area is spotted. (not certain on that). That being said, with that assumption, AI’s hearing a rally sounds about right. As far as destroying them, and other structures. Right now, you can command an AI to deconstruct a structure. so logically, setting up a command similar to our ability to change aggressiveness and formation could be a good way to implement it … could have 3 options:
Active Formation: Wide, Standard, Close
Active Behavior: Aggressive: All, Aggressive: Ignore Infrastructure, Passive
Adding Active: Ignore Infrastructure would allow those that want to remain the current AI while giving those that want them to destroy a viable option (For instances where you would rather booby trap them with mines and/or barbed wire).
I’m not sure I would have AI squads (the ones led by AI) run on AIF in this case though. I’m not settled either way on that point.
I would also code the AI to recognize friendly booby traps and ignore it if it is already booby trapped with either ap mine or barbed wire (specifically friendly, it would still destroy if it is an enemy structure/mine).
Sandbag around rallye + bipbip sound = easy to spot and destroy by enemy when they find it
Sandbag around rallye +rallye into bushes +bipbip sound = easy to spot and destroy by enemy when they find it because they can see sandbags
Rallye hyde into bushes + bipbipbip = more difficult to find for humans (but easy for bots)
There is an extremely low chance AI will be in 10m range from your rally. And if it is, enemy player probably hears the rally anyway.
So this is mostly for full AI squads and maybe for some noobs who don’t know it’s an enemy rally and just walk by it.
if they arent blind then yea, I guess it would help enlisted player that does hear it but blind enough to miss it (i have seen it happen so yea)
bad idea, because then you cant trap the rally with wire, mines or tnt charges anymore.
not having AI react to rallies is one of the few smart AI decisions ive seen from DF.
also youd get the problem that the AI will spot hidden rallies better than any human player would, what also sucks.

trapping rallies is only annoying to children, its a realistic part of the game and other games embrace it as part of its core mechanics, eg HLL.
when i spawn exploding on a mined rally i dont whine “ooga booga, mining rallies big baaad”, but instead think about how to place a better rally in a better position. also blowing up gives you the info about where your enemies infantry infiltrated you, indicating where they likely have their own rallies nearby/advantages over your weak flanks.
its literally just whining and victim mentality from immature people; likely ones who dont build their own rallies/protect them properly.
Mining rally requires the same effort as other methods but gives better results [EDITED]. Just like suicide bombing, rifle grenade spamming, impact grenade spamming, WP spamming.
Game is supposed to be fun, not annoying. I don’t see how removing this is a bad thing.
its not low effort, the opportunity costs are high, significantly higher than shooting or engaging enemies instead.
the fact that you dont see that explains why you dont understand this aspect of the game, i guess thats true for the vast majority of players then too.
i wont waste time explaining that, think about that yourself for 10 min. best way to get great at games in general is to calculate efficiencies of different decisions.

aka, the AI that acts like players and replaces them when they desert.
so despite y’all nitpicks, issues with it, gripes, whines and what not.
AI should definitely by default, be able to destroy enemy rally points when they are really close.
again, a no brainer.
