With how fast-paced this game is it doesn’t make sense to have this overly complicated and unnecessary repair mechanic for tanks So bring back the old tank repair mechanic for fixing things because no one asked for this.
I find it not that bad I actually enjoy it, it makes sense and it makes repairs in tight situations faster
Its what i call S.H.I.T. Super Hiper Impractical Task, you just dont have time to sit there walking around your tank fixing it when literaly all soldier can kill you, the maps are tiny and tight, tanks should fight at distances of less that 100 meters sometimes 150, if we gonna have mechanics like this for tanks so infantry should get a heavy weapon sway, members disabled after shots like arms or legs, methabolism fatigue and all of those stuff, to maybe start to make sense
I don’t share your viewpoint, I’m not sure how much you play vehicles in this game, but this is not a good change.
I don’t know [edit for the soyboys] how this got past the common sense filter, but it was not asked for as far as I can follow the forums. The notion that your crew has to bunny hop around your tank trying to pinpoint fix locations whilst under fire is [edit] extremely short sighted and incongruent with the dynamic of the game.
Particularly, in a game which uses compressed maps, with channeling terrain and absurd AT load outs for infantry just to balance the Inf armour assymetry - this is just a kick in the nuts for tankers.
Vehicle movement is already sluggish, turret traverse and reload rates “balanced” ™ to give inf more chance to get to cover and now this…
In what has become a “Benny Hill” run and gun, rush the capture point game dynamic now, you want tankers to get out and perform maintenance on different modules of their vehicle in slow motion… Pure Genius !
I can see in theory how its a good idea:
- Tankers can no longer sit behind their tank and magically fix a part they wouldn’t be able to reach.
- Allows for better repair of specific parts.
However, in the current state of the game there are 3 major issues:
-
It is too easy, especially for infantry, (non-AT soldiers) to outright destroy a tank. Repairs are nearly impossible simply due to how quickly tanks are eliminated outright.
-
In the event that you somehow only get incapacitated, not destroyed, perhaps say by an enemy tank, smoke cover from the grenades are not enough to be able to jump out and repair.
-
- The area of coverage and the duration of them is far too short to really do anything.
-
- Enemy tanks crosshair still turns green and red when aiming through smoke. Meaning that you actually have NOT blinded them.
-
Lastly, in the case of infantry, if they manage to disable the tank and by some miracle are NOT carrying something that can be used to outright kill you, nearby infantry don’t seem to act intelligently to assist tanks by clearing off infantry.
The machingunners within the tanks don’t operate either! So if you are trying to make repairs, you are often completely on your own.
Personally, I don’t think this new system needs to be removed, but it most certainly needs to be refined and the surrounding issues need to be dealt with in an intelligent manner.
I think tank repairs have been buffed with this new system because lets say your gun breaks you can just back behind cover repair then destroy the enemy tank. if your transmission is hit try to repair after the other tank is destroy. if you are not using cover that is your fault. with this new system part have faster repair time which I think is more useful
this is not a new problem it has always been like this even before this new system
I dislike this feature already I think it should only be in training grounds for learning otherwise it takes away from the skill of using the tank. this is also nothing new and reverting this new system won’t fix it
I do agree that machine gunners should fire on there own
this is also nothing new and reverting this new system won’t fix it. it would be better to find a new fix instead of removing features
(I mean this all in a respectful way)
yes, i agree overall with guardian reaper. keep the system and improve smoke. then players will have interesting gameplay decisions to make. ditch the tank? try to cover and repair?
for the others, remember that you can reverse to a safer position (hopefully soon in the cover of adequate smoke).
magically repairing the cannon from behind the tank was meh. it’s more thrilling if it’s a high risk option.
Though it is still a PROBLEM nonetheless.
I didn’t suggest to “revert the new system”, I said:
Who wants to fight on with a badly damaged tank with only 2-3 badly wounded crew members not in their original positions? When its better to just get out of the tank and use the SMG or commit suicide then spawn in a new squad.
The way I see it, it raised the skill floor for tanks, but at the same time increased the skill ceiling, which I think is a good thing.
Tanking is easy enough to just sit back and get 200 kills in the greyzone most of the time. Now you have to actually use your brain a little when you need to repair your tank, and in the future you will be able to do some repairs from within your tank as well.
I personally don’t see the issue.
I will pronounce unpopular opinion, but all that needed is to replace maps and slower gameplay a bit. This mechanics is nice looking but ugly played because of too fast capping and killing, moreover when maps are too small to find cover for repair. This will feel a lot better when battles become less fast
Yesterday I tried to repair a friendly tank and my experience is:
-
Tanker doesn’t know I want to repair him untill I actually do this. So I can get run over by the tank I try to repair.
-
Most damage is in the front of the vehicle. So geting there and not being instantly shreaded is a hard task not to mention you have to sit there for several seconds.
-
Any turret damage is a dead sentence. You will get sniped instantly unless the tank is behind hard cover (good luck with helping randoms).
-
Basically everything GuardianReaper0 said. Lack of concealment and cover + tanks get OHKed most of the time.
And the worst part I’d say is that even if you manage to somehow repair your tank, it will still perform badly. If you got pened and survived, you certainly lack crew to do stuff efficiently and modules you’ve repaired don’t work with 100% efficiency either.
Basically they made “healing” harder in a game that encourages dying.
Your words must be in golden frame, dude, but you miss one point - new system allows you to fully repair modules. I mean, yes, fully. So factually with what you just said, new system needs more covers and less speed of gameplay to make it playable
Fully? You mean 100% efficiency?
That’s nice actually.
But then what happened to the perk that gave repaired modules more HP?
Idunno. Honestly i spent whole previous evening burning as hell at cap points, reinforcements given for cap and crappy dispersion of Soviets trying to grind IS-2 and check it’s APHEBC projectile. Actually tanks in Berlin usually die with 1-2 shots so you just can’t repair. I think there should be totally more covers and more map overhauls. Not mentioning suicide bombing and overwhelming with faustcrap
Its still magic because most broken modules requires you to get towed back to HQ.
Completely false. It’s not about skill, it’s about more passive gameplay than even before.
Tank repairs become troublesome
When the tank is damaged, it is very dangerous to leave the tank to find the damaged part and repair it
Changes like this will only encourage tank players to stay away from the front lines and hide in safe gray areas to spam
The role of the tank should be to assist the infantry in the assault, not to hide in the distance cosplay artillery
This is especially true with the very weak defensive smoke grenades from tanks. Sometimes I can’t even tell if I’ve deployed smoke because the cloud is so small i can’t see it from the commanders view.
Smoke used to be much better but they stealth nerfed it a few patches ago, and made it uglier too. It used to be big and smooth and billowy but now it just looks like ugly little sprites stacked on top of one-another.
I wish the maps were bigger then we could have half tracks and stuff
