The problem with this assertion is that its a falacy. When your “gun breaks” you can’t just get back behind cover easily because in most cases there will be terrain issues with doing so, and the reverse speed on most vehicles is not fast enough to get out of LOS under the reload speed of the opposing vehicle if you happen to be in a direct confrontation - and that’s just vehicle on vehicle
If you are fighting infantry, the inane over modularisation of the vehicles has now introduced artificial vulnerabilities which can be targeted by infantry with even more ease. AT weapons just have to aim for barrels or the MG now, because that is sufficient to neutralise the whole squad within the dynamic of the game.
Infantry will just overrun you, with a combination of running and spawn point teleportation. Vehicles can’t compete with this artificially broken asymmetry for the sake of maintaining mobility in the game and preventing vehicles from pinning infantry down, which is what actually happened. Now I don’t have a problem with this trade off as a “gameism” but when you artificially over equip said infantry with unrealistic levels of AT weaponry and then double down with terrible map design for vehicle maneouvre specifically catering for infantry survivablity then you can begin to see why the current implementation is utterly regressive in gameplay enjoyment.
Thanks for the correction, dodgy k/b at my end and I didn’t re-read.
Arguments that it works for me are about as convincing as “git good”. Equally nonsensical is the quip about using cover because that is garbage of the highest order. Most ppl who play tanks will understand the degree to which their gun depression will allow them to position their vehicle.
I don’t know why you’re schilling for this new travesty, but its becoming clear you don’t play tanks, as I read your quips on various threads. You clearly don’t grasp the challenges of the terrain in game, the undulations alone, notwithstanding craters borne of player bombing make it supremely challenging to find your so called cover, and that really only applies to other tanks - ie direct fire duels.
What you completely ignore are the myriad of Inf AT weapons for which there is no “cover” because the infantry soldier simply runs around any LOS obstacles and just as they rush the objective, they rush your tank.
The difference is that the objective tends to be cluttered with your teams infantry so there is a chance they will get shot, wheras your tank trying to support said infantry in its assault on the objective is just undefended cannon fodder.
So spare me the “it works for me” rubbish and go actually play tanks, and try to support your team.
I don’t think you play tanks in Enlisted, or potentially you are so passive that the team ends up carrying you and the most you have to worry about is repairing bomb damage.
I completely get that charging headlong into the objective is going to end badly and quickly, but you also know that’s not what I’m writing about. I’m elaborating my points specifically which you’re just disecting for arguments sake.
My arguments are valid because I’m describing a very common scenario which many players can concur with based on their experience in the game, your argument is that “it works for me”.
So no, I’m not buying that you’re a tanker at all.
Im confused. we are talking about a tank that just took a hit… yeah its not practical to fix it there lol. gotta move, find or make cover, or ditch it. or kill threat of course. Makes perfect sense to me and add realism too Very nice. now the AS44 is junk - never entered service why would it be main smg class? thats absurd
All of those problems existed before the repair change, the only difference is now you can’t fix your entire tank while lying down underneath it.
It was a silly mechanic and as someone who’s spent many hours driving tanks I’m glad it’s harder to repair now.
Also how often is this really a problem? How often is your barrel broken and you’re so close to the enemy you can’t find a place where you can repair that would have been viable with the old system?
No sure what you’re confused about, and more importantly it appears by your comments that you don’t actually play tanks. Firstly its not easy to move, particularly reverse, because most tanks are quite slow and more importantly the terrain is so cluttered its actually quite fiddly to maneouvre. I’m going to ignore the other statements of the obvious aside from the “realism” trope, since we’re talking about repairing a vehicle within an an abstract context that allows vehicles to be damaged and repaired in game. There is nothing sensical about forcing crews to expose themselves to infantry fire in the process of fixing a tank, where they did not have to do that previously. More annoyingly you now have to “find” the broken part and target it, which actually takes longer since the damaged component may not be accessible from the position where you bail out and you need to waste time running around your vehicle targeting said part, whilst the infantry just runs and guns you.
Actually the problems did not exist because you could feasibly hide behind your tank and effect repairs or fight fires, now you have to expose your crew and run around to fix it. It just made vehicles even more vulnerable than before, notwithstanding the plethora of silly mechanics like AT weapons on every soldier which you don’t seem to find silly or your mate above unrealistic…
I don’t remember ever saying that, so maybe try to avoid putting words on other people’s mouths.
I’ve always said that TNT packs need to be toned down: the throw distance should be much shorter and you shouldn’t be able to stack dozens of them into a squad. I also find it ridiculous that AT rifles can be shoulder fired from a standing position.
Of course I also want to be able to shoot out a tanks optics, or smear mud onto them, or shoot into vision slots killing or blinding the crew. I want to be able to jam a log or debris into the road wheels of tanks or drop a grenade into a hatch after shooting the exposed commander. Also panzerfausts should be a single shot weapon that anyone can put in their mine slot instead of one guy carrying 6 at a time.
I love driving tanks, it’s the reason I started playing this game in the first place and it did not disappoint. I understand that tanks should be vulnerable when left unprotected around enemy infantry though so I put up with the downsides.
