I don’t know, I see a lot of Semovente in low BR, its gun is quite good against tanks. I agree that it should get some form of anti-infantry ammo but I see far more semovente than Stugs

Indeed Semovante is a popular AFV (technically not a tank, due to no turret) on BR1 while StuG F is only played by larpers.

Probably because it’s the first vehicle with a big looking gun the newbies have come across.

In my opinion, it’s definitely not an easy vehicle to play. So I can’t really explain its popularity.

I think you answered it yourself.
Would be a great vehicle if it had some HE, but with 600g of explosive filler in the HE (III N has 690g) it might be a little over the top for BR1.

in that case you need to lower the t50, it has bad HE shells and nerfed armor, and its direct competitor is the pz3j on the br1. The only condition is an anti-tank pistol one tier lower.

Well it has BR1 armor and a BR3 gun - sounds very much like BR2 to me → also whats even the difference to Marder at that point?

Stug will be one hit killed by many BR2 tanks and all BR3 tanks it faces, but in return can fight higher Tier vehicles. No MG no turret.

What are you afraid of actually? Actually its less of a struggle than Panzer IV F1 against lower BR tanks, since 7.5 short will also one hit kill all low armor tanks withba very fast rate of fire - forcing Germany to use SPGs for anti tank power will reduce its HE spam presence, which is undoubtedly a good thing.

BR2 armor, most BR1 tanks have half that armor.
It is also low in height and its special armor design makes it very difficult to destroy with an M1 bazooka.

I fear a StuG camper that will take over the map with its powerful cannon and strong survivability.

Also both Stuard and T60 have around 50mm of effective armor, so what are you talking about?
T26 and Panzer III B are placeholders for you to unlock better stuff.

If it not open top or have bad mobility a 75 mm shouldn’t be in br 2 and the stug have armor and a great mobility so it deserve to stay in br 3 and the separation from br 3 to br 5 will buff it indirectly

The Stug has a low height, and because of the location of the cannon , several very resistant points are created:

I wouldn’t be surprised if they suggested tomorrow that the Tiger E and Tiger 2P should be transferred to BR4. They are looking to give Germany the upper hand.

The scot is balance for USA because it a short 75 with open top and a commander who is always dead but the stug wont be balance because it have huge armor and a long 75 mm
