You can say all that and not make it sound like the other person’s fault, or that they’re somehow being irrational for noticing something. I’ve had productive conversations with you before, so maybe you didn’t mean to, but that’s the way it came across - not just from yourself, but others (and possibly moreso from them).
Ok, fair enough. It still sounded like the person was somehow wrong for not noticing this. A lot of us aren’t forum cowboys, and though I enjoy my time here when I do come, it’s usually comprised by a few days’ stint every couple of months. Just saying.
Ok, so here’s where we have a conflict of values. That does not make it ok. The fact that animations have been “broken since day one” to use your words (not something I asserted for the record) does not somehow imply that a user should know this, be accepting of it, or not point it out when they find it. That said, therein would be a good application of your pointing them to an appropriate, existing thread for them to bring it up. So that was still a productive suggestion, even if it came off the wrong way.
See, that’s how I believe the both of us took several of these comments, not just yours. Everyone sees it from their own perspective at the start, which is why we’re doing this now.
Yeah, everyone has their own priorities and what they care about. I just don’t feel that there should have been so much judgement heaped upon this player for what their priorities were in this case, which to my mind seemed logical and reasonable - especially since they gave comparisons for what seemed to get pushed to the front of the line for improvement instead, such as superficial decorations and visual elements that you only see in the menu - not in-game. As he mentioned, “it’s an eyesore that I have to look at everytime I play, the whole time I play.” (to paraphrase) I can sympathize with that, I have the same type of general reaction to such things.
I believe those were your motives and I’m glad we’ve discussed this.
I’m also glad we’ve discussed this and ended it respectfully.
However i think its still a sad fact that my speculation actually will be a fact in the near future!
And as by now i have no impression they care even when i go address this in and or to the right places, i lack the trust in them that they actually listen to us.
A good example is the shotgun debate this is recently picked up in there last update and finaly did fix the issue, but the post was made years ago and was til last update unaddressed nor cared for by them. I am afraid this issue is just like that and its bothering me in my trust.
Noticing that they letting some one waiting in the uncertainty of things.
Works passive aggressiveness into (MY) hands, all is it just to get noticed desperately.
I don’t think I ever said or inferred it was the OP’s fault. There is also obviously a translation and language barrier. English is difficult in translation at times (As I slowly teach myself German I am learning this more and more). So maybe it was coming across that way because something was lost in translation. Nothing I said was derogatory or in ill intent to the OP. You have yourself stated that you have talked to me in other threads and it is been fine and concise etc. Why would you think that would change specifically for this one?
I never said it was okay. Never.
I just said it was what it was. And that those of us whom have been here for a long time have grown to accept that this will one day be addressed. If you look up ‘reload animations’ you will see a plethora of people talking about the G41, SMLE, Johnson Rifle (Premium Squad). I was trying to build a timeline so it could be seen that animations like this are low priority right now for the Dev given the length of time they have existed. Coming out wrong is subject to the interpretation, unless I was using harsh language or calling someone a name. Of which, I did neither.
I never judged his concern. I only tried to bring to light what priority it had given these comments:
…and how the Dev team would read that. If you, as a Dev, were told you do Not have the time or the budget right now to work on animations, and read that, what would you think? I’ve had my own work literally be called garbage by people on a Forum, and I know how it made me feel. Which is why I was trying to bridge the gap between player and Dev. Its a gap that has existed since time immemorium.
Also, I don’t believe he actually purchased the squad, so its only an eyesore if you own it and that is the part about it that bothers you the most.
My only motivation is to help (and occasionally goof off in the mess room when the FG42 gets brought up).
If what I said was lost to a translator or software not putting in the correct context. It is not on me nor my fault that that happens.
I literally had to tell someone in a stream with me that a word they said has very bad context in English here (it is used as a joshing term where they are from). No translator is going to fix that. And I am sure that might just well be the case here with some of it.
Regardless, at least this thread has taught me quite a bit on how I help people. Should I choose to do so in the future.
On the topic of Shotguns, since you brought it up. They have been buffed and nerfed a few times (IIRC). So some older threads might be mistaken for how long they take to work on something.
And, in terms of Balance items (which weapons are part of) those take a while to fix because they need a lot of Meta Data from the servers (which is more relevant to them then Players Complaints).
Then, with that Data, they use internal servers (a guess, based on other experience I have had) to playtest different variables and see what the net result is. That takes a lot of time to do right, and personally speaking, I prefer long thought out balance changes over Knee-jerk reactions (quick reactions) everytime.
Much like the Semi-Auto Nerf. No one asked for it. No one asked for a nerf to the M1 or G43 etc. But it happened. And it happened not because of player forum interaction. It happened because they, after probably a lot of mining on their Meta Data from the server deemed the weapons too effective (or something, again this is just speculation because I am not part of the team that designs this game, I can only base what I say on previous experience elsewhere) and as a result they changed a fairly important variable to bring them in line with whatever they saw as the best outcome for that weapon class.
But, I prefer this kind of choice, over doing things very quickly in short order (Bolt Action Nerf) and then having to revert it. That wastes company resources (and in turn my money) to break/fix something that never needed the attention in the first place.
In the 22 years I can say I’ve been this involved in the gaming scene, I have only seen a couple of games where they are pretty solid in term of players and devs being happy. None of those games was an FPS though.
Its hard. Its just so hard at times.
That is why balance is an ever evolving dragon that can never truly be slain.
While I found my work rewarding. I was happy when my contract expired so I could take a break from it and maybe save myself from going even more grey.
I, along with some others, were in a very unique field that at one point bridged the Devs to Players. (QoL and QC mostly)
NDA expires end of this year (5 year term). So maybe one day I can talk about it more.
Suffice to say, I got to literally be both a Player, and something else. I think that is why I try to make more objective post and why I play devils advocate on others.
Yeah, I can definitely see the “devil’s advocate” part. I think I understand your reaction a little better now. I had my suspicions
But please, when that NDA expires, let me know! Maybe we can chat in the official Telegram or Discord or whatever it is, once I get around to creating an account.
It was fun. It was boring. It broke my heart a few times.
And I would do it all again if I ever got the chance.
And as odd as it sounds, the most rewarding part was when something was done, QC’d, released. And you heard nothing about it from anyone. That, and that alone was how you knew you got it right.
I did take the time to fill out the form given by the dev,
@120062891Soul Tribunal@live Since i did moved up a community rank i can now Re-Edit my post’s and topics, so i did make it more clear and nicer to read. (with your advice in mind)
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my feedback, I’ll really appreciate it if this gets picked up and gets to realization some day. Would your team please update me on this topic, thank you in advance for the effort.
