"Lewis Gun" Pan magazine No rotation animation!

Thank you, I was not personally attacking. I was merely talking, thr problem with the internet is we assume the worst in a post because we cannot hear the tone of the others voice to bring clarity.

I will do better at trying to word my responses accordingly so there is less misunderstanding.

The main link for things would be here.

I think Keofox reads it often. As well if you put @ and then Keofox it will give him a propt when he logs in and he can view your post.

The beast way to word it is simple and concise.

“Keofox, I have noticed that the drum magazine on the Lewis gun does not rotate when fired. Can you advise if this is something that will eventually be addressed? Thank you.”

I didn’t see that it was taking shots, and I don’t know who Keofox is, but I think if the OP wasn’t treated like he was asking for too much or being “unfair” to the devs for pointing something out that, upon reflection, is rather obvious, he wouldn’t felt so under attack. He’s right when he points out how a great deal of attention is paid to other, less significant elements like different gloves for certain squads and the look of ammo pouches in different nations etc., when this is something rather glaring that you have to actually look at while you play. If there was an indication that this was a known shortcoming and was something that would be addressed, rather than “how dare you complain about something not appearing properly that’s premium and costs money, and you can test it afterall!” then maybe it wouldn’t have evolved into a 30+ post back-and-forth.

And I’m not sure, is there a reason it should be assumed or expected that I read Keofox? I rarely come onto these forums. Regardless of what he writes, this is still an obvious lacking in visual functionality that’s worthy of being mentioned. That’s what the suggestion category is literally for. Did this Keofox character already say it was under review or slated to be remedied or something? I don’t see how it’s relevant otherwise, and sounds like you’re insulting our intelligence, though I’ve seen your other comments elsewhere and would like to believe that’s not the case. It’s like “stupid, lazy noob forum commentator, did you not read the latest KEOFOX manifesto” or something, lol

… I’d say 2 to 1 odds this squad in particular was introduced into the game to 1) Gauge interest in sales of Premium squads that do not confom to the standard premium squad model 2) determine balance of said squads in a live play environment.

And I mean regardless of that ^, there are other guns which aren’t premium which had a similar functionality in real life, and whose drums also don’t spin, as mentioned by RazorFeather and chaos3245.

And therein lies thr problem of trying to help people on here.
If someone like myself takes time out to detail why something is the way it is, its deemed a personal attack or insulting the intelligence of said member when that is far from the case.

I was merely trying to temper expectations on what is priority for the dev team and what is not.
Even I stated that animations have been broken since day one on stuff, so that obviously gives some sort of precedence to what will get worked on before something else.
As well, visual skins on soldiers and animations as also previously stated will probably end up being two different depts. Or the same but given goals that need to be done in a set timeliness that these animations right now don’t fit.

You may not read the forums but there is a hot link on all the major patch notes that leads to the same place that devs check. I was trying to help direct this concern to a place where it might be readily viewed and addressed.

It might not seem like it was passive aggressive, but you only see it from your perspective.
I’ve been on the other side for years. When you see things like ‘poor’ and ‘fixed fast’ its like a flag that a lot of Devs will auto ignore.

Things like this will be released time and again because that is how they both fund the game, and test new concepts and balance.
We had been clamoring for non standard premium squads for sometime now, and we got them in this (though they went too far IMO but thats a topic for another day).

End of the day, I was trying to help. In a clear concise way by explaining what I know, what I can infer, and what I’ve experienced.
But I guess this is proof that it’s better to let some things just go instead of trying to assist.
Noted.

The Lewis Gun Experience | Enlisted

The Lewis Gun for Moscow Allies squad consists of five soldiers, all equip with Lewis Guns, with one being an Engineer. The gun itself is extremely powerful and is comparable to a DP-27. It has a good fire rate, 47-round magazines, and excellent hitting power. This makes it perfect for getting rid of a large amount of Germans with an exceptional rate.

The only issue that I have had with the Lewis Gun is that i noticed that the drum magazine on the Lewis gun does not rotate when fired.

The squad is extremely good, and one of the best premium squads in the game for what it’s worth, but it comes with a steep price of 50 USD. Overall, the Lewis Gun is an absolute joy to use, but I cannot recommend this squad unless it comes on sale due to its extreme price tag.

The main question is now how long before they remove the squad and never look back.

No matter the reason they can remove it by the end of this year (like chauchat bundle) it wil get a minor or good discount in the summer sale/event.

And than it wil get a good sale on xmass with the announcement its gone be removed (last chance buyer’s trigger) with finally the ability to buy them separate if desired so.
(this did happen to bundle 's in the past)

Disclaimer: The above is a speculation, there is no solid info nor proof that this is gonna happen

You CANT test this 2 Squads on PS5

Your assist,
Its only in you last post that your did chance your tone and came to understand that your approaches were taken personal (By Me), because it was written in a manner that was not deemed assisting but more scolding/ lecturing. (so i did experience it)

But you did address this somewhat yourself already in the reply to “TheShooterSapien”
As for “TheShooterSapien” his reply, its in both your statements that i can see the point to the problem, you both can disagree to each other on this, but say your both right!

You can disagree on me for that, but than let we agree to disagree on that matter! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

PS:
I thank you for this post, i hope it will bring something in motion on the case. "Lewis Gun" Pan magazine No rotation animation! - #33 by 120062891

For what its worth, This is regrettable!

You can say all that and not make it sound like the other person’s fault, or that they’re somehow being irrational for noticing something. I’ve had productive conversations with you before, so maybe you didn’t mean to, but that’s the way it came across - not just from yourself, but others (and possibly moreso from them).

Ok, fair enough. It still sounded like the person was somehow wrong for not noticing this. A lot of us aren’t forum cowboys, and though I enjoy my time here when I do come, it’s usually comprised by a few days’ stint every couple of months. Just saying.

Ok, so here’s where we have a conflict of values. That does not make it ok. The fact that animations have been “broken since day one” to use your words (not something I asserted for the record) does not somehow imply that a user should know this, be accepting of it, or not point it out when they find it. That said, therein would be a good application of your pointing them to an appropriate, existing thread for them to bring it up. So that was still a productive suggestion, even if it came off the wrong way.

See, that’s how I believe the both of us took several of these comments, not just yours. Everyone sees it from their own perspective at the start, which is why we’re doing this now.

Yeah, everyone has their own priorities and what they care about. I just don’t feel that there should have been so much judgement heaped upon this player for what their priorities were in this case, which to my mind seemed logical and reasonable - especially since they gave comparisons for what seemed to get pushed to the front of the line for improvement instead, such as superficial decorations and visual elements that you only see in the menu - not in-game. As he mentioned, “it’s an eyesore that I have to look at everytime I play, the whole time I play.” (to paraphrase) I can sympathize with that, I have the same type of general reaction to such things.

I believe those were your motives and I’m glad we’ve discussed this.

Wow, that’s an oversight. ^

This sums it all up

I’m also glad we’ve discussed this and ended it respectfully.

However i think its still a sad fact that my speculation actually will be a fact in the near future!

And as by now i have no impression they care even when i go address this in and or to the right places, i lack the trust in them that they actually listen to us.

A good example is the shotgun debate this is recently picked up in there last update and finaly did fix the issue, but the post was made years ago and was til last update unaddressed nor cared for by them. I am afraid this issue is just like that and its bothering me in my trust.

Noticing that they letting some one waiting in the uncertainty of things.
Works passive aggressiveness into (MY) hands, all is it just to get noticed desperately.

I don’t think I ever said or inferred it was the OP’s fault. There is also obviously a translation and language barrier. English is difficult in translation at times (As I slowly teach myself German I am learning this more and more). So maybe it was coming across that way because something was lost in translation. Nothing I said was derogatory or in ill intent to the OP. You have yourself stated that you have talked to me in other threads and it is been fine and concise etc. Why would you think that would change specifically for this one?

I never said it was okay. Never.
I just said it was what it was. And that those of us whom have been here for a long time have grown to accept that this will one day be addressed. If you look up ‘reload animations’ you will see a plethora of people talking about the G41, SMLE, Johnson Rifle (Premium Squad). I was trying to build a timeline so it could be seen that animations like this are low priority right now for the Dev given the length of time they have existed. Coming out wrong is subject to the interpretation, unless I was using harsh language or calling someone a name. Of which, I did neither.

I never judged his concern. I only tried to bring to light what priority it had given these comments:

…and how the Dev team would read that. If you, as a Dev, were told you do Not have the time or the budget right now to work on animations, and read that, what would you think? I’ve had my own work literally be called garbage by people on a Forum, and I know how it made me feel. Which is why I was trying to bridge the gap between player and Dev. Its a gap that has existed since time immemorium.

Also, I don’t believe he actually purchased the squad, so its only an eyesore if you own it and that is the part about it that bothers you the most.

My only motivation is to help (and occasionally goof off in the mess room when the FG42 gets brought up).
If what I said was lost to a translator or software not putting in the correct context. It is not on me nor my fault that that happens.
I literally had to tell someone in a stream with me that a word they said has very bad context in English here (it is used as a joshing term where they are from). No translator is going to fix that. And I am sure that might just well be the case here with some of it.

Regardless, at least this thread has taught me quite a bit on how I help people. Should I choose to do so in the future.

On the topic of Shotguns, since you brought it up. They have been buffed and nerfed a few times (IIRC). So some older threads might be mistaken for how long they take to work on something.

And, in terms of Balance items (which weapons are part of) those take a while to fix because they need a lot of Meta Data from the servers (which is more relevant to them then Players Complaints).
Then, with that Data, they use internal servers (a guess, based on other experience I have had) to playtest different variables and see what the net result is. That takes a lot of time to do right, and personally speaking, I prefer long thought out balance changes over Knee-jerk reactions (quick reactions) everytime.

Much like the Semi-Auto Nerf. No one asked for it. No one asked for a nerf to the M1 or G43 etc. But it happened. And it happened not because of player forum interaction. It happened because they, after probably a lot of mining on their Meta Data from the server deemed the weapons too effective (or something, again this is just speculation because I am not part of the team that designs this game, I can only base what I say on previous experience elsewhere) and as a result they changed a fairly important variable to bring them in line with whatever they saw as the best outcome for that weapon class.

But, I prefer this kind of choice, over doing things very quickly in short order (Bolt Action Nerf) and then having to revert it. That wastes company resources (and in turn my money) to break/fix something that never needed the attention in the first place.

Alright, fair enough. :ok_hand:

It’s gotta be hard to design a wargaming experience where nobody ultimately “wins.”

In the 22 years I can say I’ve been this involved in the gaming scene, I have only seen a couple of games where they are pretty solid in term of players and devs being happy. None of those games was an FPS though.
Its hard. Its just so hard at times.
That is why balance is an ever evolving dragon that can never truly be slain.
While I found my work rewarding. I was happy when my contract expired so I could take a break from it and maybe save myself from going even more grey.

So you were actually in the developer field?

I, along with some others, were in a very unique field that at one point bridged the Devs to Players. (QoL and QC mostly)
NDA expires end of this year (5 year term). So maybe one day I can talk about it more.
Suffice to say, I got to literally be both a Player, and something else. I think that is why I try to make more objective post and why I play devils advocate on others.

Yeah, I can definitely see the “devil’s advocate” part. I think I understand your reaction a little better now. I had my suspicions

But please, when that NDA expires, let me know! Maybe we can chat in the official Telegram or Discord or whatever it is, once I get around to creating an account.

It was fun. It was boring. It broke my heart a few times.
And I would do it all again if I ever got the chance.

And as odd as it sounds, the most rewarding part was when something was done, QC’d, released. And you heard nothing about it from anyone. That, and that alone was how you knew you got it right.
