Lets try again - nerf soviet body armor, its OP and unfair and you know it

well yes yes yes, vitality nerf is more than needed - but again just to show how busted body armor is:

Soviet Flamers get extra vitality + regular vitality + body armor.

thats 14.75 HP + 10% damage reduction.

that means you need 16.4 damage to one hit down - which isnt enough HP to turn STGs into a 3 hit down, but for Kiraly it is, not to mention you will survive every semi auto rifle in the game.

the only thing that would make sense, is if HP upgrades would be the same as weapon upgrades.

so that balance from non upgraded weapons to non upgraded soldiers would always be the same as upgraded ones - as such an overview of gun balance is possible.

like 20% more damage, should mean that vitality gives 20% more HP.

but body armor is just terrible game design, it effects waaay too many aspects of the game despite being a near useless piece of equipment.

It should literally ONLY effect SMGs and pistols while giving massive movement penalties.

There’s no real balance issue with Soviet body armors.

really?

They should rework the body armour and introduce it for all the other nations in-game via event squads.

no nerfs, make it cosmetic only so it has no special effect → problem solved

If one wants to count on hes “reaction time” and use something else than vitality its hes choice.
Body armor how ever is choice only for soviets.

to be fair, increasing FG42 to 15.3 damage while also buffing G41 and other rifles that are wrongly effected by body armor could effectively make body armor “only mostly” work against SMGs - which would more or less do make body armor do what it is supposed to do. But this means that G41 for example would be buffed against both Soviets and US, despite it needing no buff against US ( well G41 is terrible to begin with, but thats a different story)…

… but this brings me to my main point, micromanagement and changing the balance all the time is a lot of unnecessary work, considering vitality and body armor both could simply be removed

i love body armor topic tbh it the most fun topic next to ap mine topic (that doesnt exist anymore) and german 100+ round mg

Yes. It’s just a part of broader balance context.

Not this again :man_facepalming:t2:

It’s the slightest difference that isn’t even noticeable. If you’re losing your gunfights it’s because you’re not good at the game. Find a different excuse for your skill issues.

If it doesnt make any differency then it doesnt have to exist,

It totally doesn’t make difference when they can not only eat more rounds before dying but also deflect MG/smg/rifle shells from time to time.
How is it fair? Game was supposed to be balanced but Soviets get all the best infantry weapons in the game plus also non-cosmetic body armors.
It’s the Soviet bias at it’s best. And seems Soviets are the ones with massive skill issue since they need to get busted unlocks like overbuffed drum tommies in the last event to win since they hate building rallies or capturing points or flanking more than anything in the entire world.

youre right, so it can be removed and then theres nothing to complain about. no biggy.

The perk is stupid… But kind of gives you a chance in those super unfair matches that happen often. With more even teams it probably could be reworked

Crying about body armor is just weird to me, its such a non-issue 99% of the time

its an unecessary point of contention…remove it and any possible issues anyone has is gone…then people can move on to the next topic.

Personally I dont mind that it works on Pistol caliber, I think thats cool. But it does effect rifle caliber (SA, S/F)…which is poor design, regardless how much one may or may not notice.

My Opinion is implement it properly where it only effects shrapnel and pistol calibre…or fuck it off :man_shrugging:

Personally, I don’t mind the body armor—even though I play Soviets less often than the other factions.

I don’t want everything to be exactly the same and perfectly balanced between the factions. Perfect balance doesn’t exist in the real world, and it shouldn’t exist in the game either—otherwise, what’s the point of playing other factions if they’re all the same?

Furthermore, having imbalance between the factions—whether its weapons, vehicles, etc.—forces you to make better choices if you want to survive (and makes the game more interesting). Think about it, would the game of chess be any fun if all the pieces on the board moved the same way & had exactly the same powers? Of course not!

Let the Soviets keep their body armor—it’s not a big deal!

I agree

unfortunatly this has been corroded with Lendlease, captured weapons and prototypes. there has been a 1 for 1 model going on for quite a while

But Id also like mechanics to make sense or proper application. Body armor I think is great, IF:

The factions have never been balanced. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Soviet tanks are terrible compared to the Germans. Their airpower isn’t too great either. Yet it’s always the body armour that people cry about and it is the least impactful out of all the faction differences.

Soviets have no weaknesses, they are the strongest nation in the game bar none at BR2, BR3 and BR5

Wrong their tanks across all BRs except BR5 have superior tanks than Germany, and at BR5 you have more good tanks (not great) than Germany i can spawn in T-34-100 and two IS-2 and how many high BR tanks Germany can spawn as? Only two Tigers 2. Unless you pay for mediocre Jagpanther.

They are only few % slower than German planes and a lot of them have better turn rate, and their bombload are more than enough to destroy anything that Germany has on the ground never had issue with flying Soviet planes.

It is impactful since it stacks with Vitality and can deflect bullets not just tank one more shot.
