Yesterday amongst much discussion about “balance” and the eternal boost this nerf this babbling, someone ( @CaptainSebekel ) came with a genuinely good idea to help new players out starting the game and compete with us veterans faster, as well as hopefully keeping them in the game loop:
New players could have a TEMPORARY assigned premium squad with high lvl soldiers and armament assigned to them, for the campaign of their choice. This squad could either be available until a certain lvl is reached (and regular squads obtained could get as good) or until some timer ends. (I would prefer the lvl option as I myself hate timers)
It would even be a win/win scenario both for the new player and gaijin
Player gets a taste of a fun and well armed squad, something he can get with regular squads later by grinding. This will allow him to compete toe to toe with even higher lvl players.
Gaijin gets player retention AND possibly nudge players into buying premiums. “You loved the help squad during the timed (or low lvl) period? Why… DON’T YOU BUY IT? kaching kaching!”
I’d personally see that option working. At least more than the endless and fruitless suggestions about restricting/removing/nerfing types of weaponry or vehicles, which let’s admit, mostly comes from mains.
Share your thoughts, ladies and gents! We like Enlisted, and to “Live”, Enlisted needs players, it’s lifeblood!
Meh. Too weak/ too similiar to the M3. At the end its slightly slower and has slightly better recoil. I think more about the M1A1 and Beretta talking about France.
Keeping I’m not certain would work… After all, goal of Gaijin is to make money.
Plus, we want new players to stay with us, so I’d be up for them having access to a very good squad, tailored just for them. Since the squad would be really good, it’s another reason why it could not be permanent, as it would be unfair to everyone who bough some
I didn’t felt underpowered even when I started playing enlisted. I knew that I have to grind in order to get better squads so this is what a noob should do. Play, grind get better while dooing so.
At the end it’s not so much about the squad / equipment imho. It’s about how good you can perform, aim and outsmart enemies.
However what should keep some people from creating new accounts all the time to get the berserker “noob” squad again and again? I mean people do use cheats to bully other gamers so the new account thing will be abused as well ofc
Its an great idea you guys cooked together on that other thread. Make them try them out in combat for some short amount of time…But only the strong survive…Survival of the fittest…
Ps While youre at it you could also gift me the Stug
This game used to be way easier to start and get sucked into, if the start would have been as steep as it is now I think I would not have played this game this long? (I Have also bought plenty of stuff in the game) But mainly I started with nothing as a free player.
Right now the step to start the game for any player is simply just way too high, I tried starting to play with level 1. Allies (I Only play with the Axis teams/ Italians) and seriously… It was so… It was just as a fun as being constantly getting a colonoscopy without any medicine.
I decided to keep playing with my already developed Germans and Italians and to forget about any other nations.
If the Pacific Campaign happens, or Korean War campaign, I will go with the Japanese and/ or North Koreans.
The reason: When I was a kid, we never had a change to play on the “Naughty” team. NEVER, unless it was battlefield 1942 and even that was like “Wow, you get to play with the Germans, so cool…”
Now that I am an old man, its nothing but AXIS side for me. I am entitled.
I still wonder why Gaijjin decided to make all these changes in the game with the gear/ getting new troops in the first place? From business perspective it does not make any sense, they basically eroded quite a few of their veteran/ old players and at the same time, jacked up the difficulty level for beginners to a point where starting the game really does not make any sense.
If anyone still has any nation/ any side on the level 1 or 2 just give it a shot how hard it is to start gaming and let me remind you. You as an veteran player already know what to do/choose unlike the Noobs.
Well this new player squad would never be better than a top of the line regular fully decked squad, so someone doing this… would only slow his own progress
Thankfully, bullies no lifer retards are rare in Enlisted.
It shares Alot in common with games that players have to rent weapons or gear to play, usually the game gives a free trial better item to make a new player life easier.
The player will have a better toy to learn the game
The player will know and feel the extra xp a premium squad gives
The player will be more likely to invest on future premium squads since it already experienced one with hopefully good results for him.
10/10.if, only avaiable temporary for a new player, and latter could be bough if want to keep it.
Anything the devs would come up with potent enough for newcomers to compete up until it would be “deactivated” (or bought, more revenue options for the devs is also good) once the player reach desired lvl and regular unlocks becomes as good as the temporary squads would be fine, as long as every side gets roughly the same things
They could even be bought by higher lvls players if they wished and are fun enough to play. I know some people that like collecting prem squads. I’m one of them (if they are fun and moderately useful)
playing with kitted stuff for than got it removed?
what does make you think people will buy them as they just started out with those squads?
they don’t even understand ( or might not ) the machanics of the game to begin with.
surely you don’t wanna milk your first started players to a point where they get burned out or regret decisions to a point where they will despise them entirely.
like, you passed from having actual squads that can fight, to bare bone cruel experience of this model. ( which i somewhat defend as i have seen worse ).
you are not making those players the life experience better.
you are just gradually deceving them by thinking that the game is easy and fun.
which it’s a " technique " that i usually hate from content creators as well. making the others thinking that the game is easy ( just because they got the stuff earlier for potentially bring customers ) which once again, this is somewhat fine, and not fault of the company. but this is what happens. deceving people for than those last have a different " taste " or impression it’s not always good.
so…
in my personal experience, to make things better, campaigns should be balanced by matchmaker based on skills/campaign levels or to the very least, play time or even better, score gear system.
( which it would be required to discuss further, but i digress. heck, i even rather have pve matches where you can earn some xps and if you want, you will be able to use those equipment against players and measure there if you want play pvp or stay in our pve )
so you don’t end up having veterans facing fresh newly players.
but that’s my opinion. and / or my two cents.
But I feel you didn’t understand that the squad would only get removed when a player can finally deck a regular free squad to be just as strong as the temporary one they got.
It’s designed as a simple helping hand, and for gaijin to even consider it, there must be the promise of money, hence the possibility to buy it once the grace period ends.
We were all exploring and theorizing about lvl based mm for months… and such a thing would simply not work:
would disperse player base even further
would make game boring at low lvl
would make it “battle of the sweats” at high lvl = not just fun anymore
would completely remove any incentive to grind (why grind when everyone get the same mirror things every match)
because of previous point, would completely remove diversity and surprise of what you can face
And probably points I’m forgetting. As for pve, we have it as the form of custom match already. Extremely relax, I play here with my below lvl 5 friends.
What about we make a certain early level bracket matchmaking up to around level 10-15 depending on the campaign and the faction with the option for the player to actually turn it off if they want a challenge with a huge boost in XP and orders to compensate their lack of equipment especially when facing against battle hardened veterans.
Also, give those players more free squad slots to play with with around 2 or 3 more to give them more flexibility like the ones who have premium and bought squad slots do.
I’m against any lvl bracket restrictions, for reasons I mentioned quite often. One of the simplest one would be it fractures player base even more.
As for free slots, a low lvl player simply don’t need that many… He doesn’t even have the squads to fill them. And when he finally does, they would get removed?
I still believe the OP idea would be better for the players AND be advantageous enough for Gaijin to even consider.
