mh.
i see many people chanting that old game, medal of honor if not mistaken.
which sawing from videos they did performed averange ( not headless chickens ). which that’s the way it should be.
but i can’t say much as i didn’t specifically played any of those titles.
however, i did played extensively day of infamy, insurgency sandstorm, men of war assault squad, company of heroes etc.
and even in those RTS which might be different from fps they do actually shoot other placed equipement from the enemy team.
AI can works, if implemented correctly.
which as goes for enlisted,
they could and should laying smokes, destroying rally points, using tanks their own, do more tasks that players do too.
at the same time, not be deadly machines, but gets accurate after 1 or 2 bullets to give chances to retaliate. just like real life.
you have some excellent soldiers with good reflex, and " thinking "; and you also got some… dumber soldiers a bit more sluggish, etc.
which it’s more about fixing AI to not shoot through foliage.
and, bots do things on their own already.
like, they do build ammo crates, place medkits, heal other soldiers, and so on ( even place rallies ).
that’s the route we should take.
make them do more, not less.
i’m more of the idea ( at least, worked for me ) working towards improving both the way you play, and " becoming " better alongside your own AI. as a sort of achievement form.
it could, and should work that way.
opposed as having to do everything yourself with chickens following you.
and everything you do, doesn’t matter.
