Why is this even there? Did anyone ever managed to defend it for longer than a minute or two? Point should be behind the bridge, not in the middle of it. It basicly looks like germans are abandoning the bridge, only because russians steped on it.
Is easy to defend a mortar player is able to slow dawn the enemy a lot a tanker in the team is able to stop the enemy in the other side and kill tank and the infantry do their job and kill the enemy but all of this only with a good team if not the bridge capitulate in 5 minutes or 30 sec
Maybe its because I only started and I have a starter gear, but, then again, whenever I spawn on that damn bridge, I just run away, because its basicly a death zone to defend. It just doesnt make any sens for me. Once I tried to set up Hedgehogs behind the bridge, to slow russian tanks down. But bridge got captured when I was placing the first one.
Most of german player are bad really bad playing germany now is hard really hard so if you want play germany go in muscovy for the allies all campagni are fine
Have you ever heard 10k guys screaming hurrra in the same time?
It’s fucking scary man
I’ve lost a game as allies where we never got a single majority of troops on hte bridge.
L2P
exactly!!!
Well I cant even imagine that. There is no cover at all for the defenders, single push at the begining is usually enough. Plus tanks and planes. Perhaps you did something wrong as the attacers
Or perhaps they did somethign right - or maybe my team whad half bot. I got onto the cap zone a couple of times - there were alsways more of them… and artillery and aircaft work both ways!
It really depends on the team. I main Soviets in Berlin and honestly there are many different tactical resolutions to this:
- Build a spawn beacon somewhere under the bridge (on the attackers’ bank). Provided you also defend the beacon, ofc.
- AA installations, or (if you have it unlocked) an MG nest providing flanking fire with decent infantry teams holding the bridge itself.
- A well-positioned tank working together with a Stuka can also make things very complicated.
- Or, as gastanofrizzi mentioned – mortars. They can be extremely effective if deployed correctly.
These are only few that come to mind. Most Soviet teams will just be rushing the bridge, 90% of the times they won’t even try to destroy your beacon even if they know it’s there.
yes , i won games where soviers didnt cap the first point.
several times.
Maybe Im having a bad luck then. As I mentioned whenever I try to do something, russians capture the bridge. I have about 1 to 2 minutes from spawn to do anything. last time it was enough for placing spawn and hedgehog.
I know that arty and planes work both ways, but the thing is, russians need to be in there only for couple of seconds, to move the cap progress. I was only once tried sitting on that bridge, and was immediatly shelled by arty, planes and tanks.
Maybe its not the problem with the bridge itself then, but rather state of germans in general on berlin campaign. truth be told, they waltzed trhoug other caps too.
Any of you remembers playing the original Red Orchestra? The setting is almost identical to the one in that old map, “Danzig” (except it was 2 smaller bridges)
Germans had to prepare for the red army wave, the best they could. Makes me think of that a lot.
Try flanking fire – after the first arty barrage we (the attackers) are usually only covered by those tank hulls. You (defenders) have a couple of very good points, some even elevated to rain hell on us.
I deffended it as German for 11 minutes.(I have a gameplay if you don’t believe me)
I have played as russian and we can’t cap the second point.
As always say, it depends on players in both teams. Maybe your team is bad or full of bots, or maybe is enemy’s team fault.
But (for me) the map is fine and balanced
Well I will try things you guys mentioned here, thou I dont realy thing there is enough time to properly do them.
I’ve just finished levelling Moscow (allies), and have started playing Berlin (Germany) - And I gotta say, the maps don’t feel balanced at all in comparison. I don’t know if they’ve tried to go historical about it by giving the allies an advantage, but it feels that way. I’m not sure I’m completely on board with the “ally players are just better” explanation, the playerbase is a bit too large for that to be the whole story.
I haven’t been playing enough to confidently say exactly what I think the issues on each map are, but I know a lot of people avoid the open points… And I don’t blame them, sitting in the middle of the road, or in a tiny closed off room that can be fully cleared by one grenade, is almost certain death. Would like to see capture zones overall a bit larger, and with more roofs.
And I also wanna say, going “I won the map once so that means it’s balanced” is a very poor argument. Circumstantial evidence like that is irrelevant. What matters, is how the matches generally proceed, and generally the allies win.
As is very obvious from this thread, most players main soviet - Sorry guys, I think you straight up have an advantage.
Only one person in this whole thread said the maps were balanced, and even that was prefaced with “for me”, implying this is nothing more than personal opinion.
The rest were merely discussing various strategies that can be employed to mitigate or at least somewhat offset the imbalance.
