I recently unlocked JU 188 and it has no bomb sights. How can I aim bombs with this thing. I tried it several times, but mostly I did completely no damage. How to tell when should I release bombs?
You just have to know, you know
Just practice bombing it comes with the time, bombsights might be too easy for wipe out the enemy team
Yeah what that guy said. You just have to try till you find out
But pro tip.
Since you are travelling at high speeds the bombs will be flung really far forwards if you dont point the plane downwards
Here is my tip.
There is a sight but you have to dive bomb to see it.
Climb up to around 900m+ otherwise you will not be able to get the nose down and up in time.
Try to anticipate enemy movements and position your plane either to hit the enemy line effectively and save 1 bomb load for your return pass as you head to reload.
Drop the nose to about 60 degree angle kill the motors to about 20% and a circle should appear use that to aim your first bomb.
The bombs will go where the nose of your plane is pointing as their heavy and their momentum will stay the same on release.
Try to bomb flat ground or something open IE not trenches or houses or else they might not detonate properly get less kills.
Lastly just practice.
Keep an eye out for tracers and tank muzzle flashes on your approach.
Don’t forget to pull up in time and use combat flaps.
I hope this helps.
You only really need to get to around 600m altitude. Just be sure you pull up out of the dive at ~200m if you want to survive. Some maps you can go lower (like on D-Day due to the slope of the map), but generally 200 should be safe.
Otherwise complete agree with you.
Also @4346470 I recommend dropping a pair or two, then doing a 180 loop (I go vertical to regain altitude) and drop the remaining as you head back toward rearm. Use basically the same strats for the A-20, Stuka, & P-47.
One last note: if you try to turn to adjust last minute bombs, do not bother dropping. They will swing out very wide and miss. Better to just not drop, pull out of the run, and try again. Though I did manage to make it work for me once. I flew between two offset Jumbos, dropped a pair on cap, rolled slighly left & dropped, then right & dropped, and managed to clear the point and get both tanks. But this was also pre-bomb nerf so it was much easier. Still felt awesome though.
Simple. Go low speed like 55 power and fly mid-low altitude. Press right click to spot the enemy (you need to know where are they spawning if your team doesn’t mark). Then carpet bomb. Result - a lot of kills. After that expect to see enemy planes in the sky lol
What helped me was to keep on practicing in duh practice mode.
The airfield is full of tanks. In the beginning you are happy if any tank at all explodes.
In the end you call which tanks you want to destroy and repeat it until you can reliably hit them.
Thanks, I will try that. Almost forgot about parked tanks in the practice.
Just to add onto what I said earlier. Get to ~600m alt, and then start your dive when you are about ~1200m away from your target. You can usually use the objective as a guide for your distance until you get a feel for it. Some planes can do it later (closer to 1000m) but the Ju will not be able to pull up from that steep of a dive most of the time.
Another trick is to figure out your turning speed when rearming. For example, the Ju-188, A-20, & Stuka can start turning (no flaps) at 200m from rearm and the forward momentum will carry you into the rearm location when you are about halfway turned. Saves a bit of time each run. Faster turning planes like fighters want to do it closer to 100m. I wish I could find the video I saw that taught me all this. After watching, I went from being absolute garbage with bombers to very accurate.
Circle. What circle?
Drop the nose and you will see the aiming circle. This applies for most bombers… how have you not seen this?
Yeah agreed. The main reason I gain extra height is so I have a few extra seconds to search for my targets while diving.
This aint war thunder buddy
I assure you this absolutely not the case in Enlisted or War Thunder realistic battles (unless it is a high br jet with a ballistic computer). This is only a thing in Arcade battles in WT.
I’m obviously referring to Enlisted normal battles as that’s what most of the Enlisted population play instead of hardcore lone fighters.
The circle aiming reticule circle exists in both Enlisted and Warthunder in any non hardcore modes = Facts
There it is. Honestly… how have you not noticed this?
I see what you meant. Well, I am sorry to tell you. It cannot be used for aiming very well. Perhaps it works for your angle of diving, I am not denying it. But for the other 99% of the situations such as if you fly straight, relying on the “go there” mouse-assisted plane control reticle (which also exists in war thunder) does not guarantee you hit anything. It’s role is to point it towards the direction you want the plane to fly, and not much else.
that is not where the bombs fall buddy. that circle is where you are steering the plane. it is present in every single aircraft in game, including those with rockets and without ground attack
It works perfectly well as a bomb aiming reticule when dive bombing which is exactly what I stated in the above method. The bombs will fall in that circle if you come in at a decent angle as they will maintain the trajectory of your plane. Therefore it can be effectively used as a bombing reticule.
Go try it before commenting again please as this is just silly. I’ve been using this reticule to take out tanks and squads since I started playing and it works perfectly as like I stated above 90% of the time I dive bomb.
Do you argue for the sake of arguing now? Read what I said:
“Perhaps it works for your angle of diving, I am not denying it.”
It simply does not work for me. I explained how flying horizontally from the ground, I can assure you you are going to miss the target completely depending on your speed.
It is a steering reticle, it does not update based on angle of attack or speed like a bombing reticle.
Fly low and slow, and you are going to miss. Fly straight at any other speed than you are used to drop the bombs, and you are going to miss. It is simple physics.
