It doesn’t have to be a single engine plane, frankly speaking.
But to start, we don’t have the B7A2

Ki-21s

Ki-49s

Now, there are other Japanese planes available for CAS purposes, but they may be too slow (early-war) or too large (4 engines) to be even remotely comparable to their counterpart west allied planes.
The J2M3 and Ki-84 Ko are insufficient for the purposes of faction parity.

Can’t the a6m7 have rockets?

10 very small rockets or a pair of larger rockets.
The small ones look like nuggets to a drumstick when put side by side with an HVAR.
But they could still kill Infantry, tanks, not so much.
There is one type of rocket the japanese have that could kill tanks, the No.6 Mod.9, its in War Thunder.
Here they are compared to the German Wfr.Gr.21
The Japanese rockets are better on paper, slightly more explosive mass and the Wfr.Gr.21s are CRAZY good against infantry too. You can wipe the whole enemy team with them with good placement and a tight enough space.

B7A would be swell
adequate bomb selection, still not that great at CAS, would make up by being very agile + forward 20mm.
for ki-49, i would rather they add the II for the cooler camo.

I dont see a whole ass medium bomber being added. Maybe the Ki-48 as it is a light high speed bombe. Bit the 21 would be too cumbersome.
Ju-188 that’s been in the game for about 3 years now:

Like I said a light bomber like the Ki-48 would be ok. The Ju88 was a light bomber. The Ki-21 is a medium/Heavy bomber.

The RAF museum website, Smithsonian museum website and even WT call it a medium bomber.
It was categorized by the Germans as a schnellbomber, but it wasn’t designated or used as a “light bomber”.
So…
What light bomber?
And for the sake of argument following your logic, there’s the A-20 Boston and the SB-2M.
We’ve had heavier planes available for CAS for a long time now.

Good stuff, similar to what I was preparing for my upcoming suggestion:
Ki-49-IIb or Ki-21-IIb (4 × 250 kg) - BR IV
Effectively a counter to the A-20.
Ki-67-Ib (8 × 100 kg) - BR V
The Ki-67 is essentially the successor of the Ki-49. A fast, twin-engine bomber.
N1K2-Ja (4 × 250 kg + 400L) - BR V
Kawanishi made a based plane that no one asked for and it kinda slapped. Probably the closest rival to the P-47 that we can get.
B7A might be good at BR III with the 250 kg bombs. Dunno if Japan really needs the largest bomb in game for their salvation. I’d start by moving the D4Y1 down to BR III first though.

Most Japanese rockets are also more common on paper, as they were rarely ever used. I’d rather keep Japan as authentic as possible. Just because they get a paper tank doesn’t justify prototypes for everything else.
Well if you want CAS thats an option as I understand the Wfr.Gr.21 wasn’t common either but theyre in the game. Are you suggesting these japanese rockets are paper designs?

Only the Ju 188 is in game as a playable aircraft. Anyway, both the Ju 88 and Ju 188 actually have a very similar empty weight, just shy of 10000 kg. The Ki-21 comes in at only around 6000 kg.
Bottom line is that this game has Warthunder flight models and in WT the Ki-21 and 49 fly a little cumbersome, the bombload is mediocre and you and cant really dive bomb effectively. The Ki 48 has comparable bombload, is way faster, and more nimble.
As to wether the Ju88 is a light bomber or not, who cares its role was that of a fast bomber and the Ki-48 wa inspired off the Ju88.
Oh my bad for writing Ju88. Please excuse my misspellings.
Read all as Ju188

From the limited information I have found so far (US documents from 1945 at the bottom of a Wikipedia page
); only the Type 3 No.25 Mk 4 armor-piercing and Type 3 No.6 Mk.27 air-to-air rockets saw service.
The prior could penetrate 125-150 mm of armor and had a 3.5 kg charge, while the latter had 140 iron pellets embedded in 4 kg of WP.
However, I am by no means an expert on this topic.
Those are still good options

The issue is that these rockets would be replacing bombs, as Japanese aircraft did not have separate rails for rockets. They’d be cool on fighter planes though.
