Is there a reason why tanks and their controls are garbage?

It’s nothing like in any other game or War thunder that this game really tries to mimick. Aiming is sloppy as motherf***** and killing someone is a hit or miss, literally shot at one guy 10 times 2 meters away and he still got me (not to mention aiming was way harder than it has to be)

You really think a ww2 tank was smooth and pinpoint accurate?
That most of them handled as smoothly as they do in WT or WoT?
Come on, it’s a 1930s/ 40s machine, probably hand cranked turret. They’re not one shot no scope trick things.

If they were slicks and instantly responsive, like modern vehicles, they would be far too overpowered and able to mop up everything in their path.

I think this is probably User error. I find that tanks are pretty reliable and while some parts could use improvement it’s nothing I wouldn’t expect from WT sim. Aiming is actually really easy once you figure out the Horizontal and Vertical guidance.

Also… You do realize this game is made by Gajin? The company that made War Thunder. Right?

Wow, if it is really the same company, how come the controls are not the same?

Actually I find the bouncy aiming to be pretty silly - if these things were cranked - either hand or power - then the guns do not bounce FFS!

Even the British shoulder-activated elevation systems for the 2 pdrs shouldn’t bounce like these guns do!

But otherwise I do like the tank modeling - except the borked damage…

Tanks really aren’t hard to control, sure they take time to get used too, but if they were any more slick and smooth, I really do feel they would be too powerful. I can easily rack up double or triple digit kills when placing them defensively.

You just can’t rush in alone, sit behind the infantry and mop up/ provide support and you’re laughing

Because it’s a different type of simulation. If you go out of hatch commander view it’s the exact same controls as Simulation mode for WT tanks, minus the free look button, which is the part that I want improved.

You do understand that the gun is moving because the tank is moving. These tanks don’t have stabilizers until you get to certain Sherman variants. German tanks don’t have stabilizers period so the suspension means the tank moves and yes the gun tends to move when the tank does.

No - it is not that - you can do it at a complete stop by changing the elevation of the gun - it will “overshoot” your change - go higher or lower than you want it to.

Unless you’re firing your main gun point blank at infantry you shouldn’t be missing any of your shots. That is 100% user error especially with the hit indicator that lights up grey red and green.

Stabilizer doesn’t fix also the problem that even the machine gun turret moves slow as fuck, I’ve been outran by simply infrantry god knows how many times now. If this was literally any other game, like Battlefield 4, those guys would’ve been dead 100 times.

No. It doesn’t fix the problem because the tank is still moving. It just makes it easier. Also you do understand the Sherman IRL takes 15 seconds to traverse the main gun 360 degrees? Yes. In 15 seconds your average middle school girl can outrun the turret traverse of the M4 Sherman. I am sure a well trained Axis soldier can do the same.

If I wanna play like in real life, I’d rather play an Arma 3 WW2 renactment mode

I wish there was a way to eliminate the circle and just move the turret, without the lag of moving the circle then waiting. At least when I’m in the gunners seat. Commander seat it is understandable.

Then go play that because this is clearly not the game you think it is if you want some cheap easy arcade shooter.

Funny you should mention that, this really is a pretty cheap arcade game and I uninstalled it already for that reason, however, I wanted to give it another chance to get better gear since I don’t have anything better to play at the moment

don’t be condescending - I can put the cursor EXACTLY where I want it and the gun then overshoots.

I don’t have a problem with that - turret traverse has a speed limitation (degrees per second), and at short range yes infantry can run faster than you can traverse.
