Title. Since I’m currently finding the Bren pretty good at the job with its 30 rounds mag, and before D-day sales expire, I’m wondering if there’s any valid reason to spend some Gaijin Coins into the premium (fixed, non upgradeable nor modifiable) LMG squads.
Tbh I wouldn’t consider BAR a LMG at all but it’s your choice.
(I suppose you want use it as LMGs should be used, not to run and gun.)
its okay, but assaults squad should be 5 man imo, since they are weaker than Gunners. Gunners being 4 after playing the game for so long Im starting to think its fair.
I’ve had the US Bar Gun, they feel the same to me with the German one
BAR is not a LMG at all.
The game does a poor job of give weapons and equipment “real life” limitations - eg the BAR doesn’t have a quick change barrel - but that is irrelevant since there is no overheating. The limited mag is also pretty irrelevant since changing mags is quick and easy.
I do not know if the premium squad is worth it. I do not have it.
As a weapon it changed a lot for me. The Bren was ok but half you screen is obscured. The Bar is clean and shoots really well. Bren is not in any list for me and Bar is top 3 favorite weapins in the game.
The brens sights are terrible and you lose a lot of your sight picture when you use it, while it’s great for point firing you almost need to be stationary to get a decent sight picture which isn’t good. A BAR on the other hand has a very open sight picture so is much easier to use. It also has slightly lower recoil.
Imho the biggest letdown of premium squads is the inability to put an engineer in them, even if meant replacing one member (not talking about full engineers team, ofc).
Besides the obvious team advantage of setting up rally points, in most maps I figured out at least one good spot on the flanks where I can set up an LMG placement and provide effective support by mowing down enemy reinforcements. But that also requires an engineer to build an ammo crate.
Suprisingly the bar does not eat up ammo that fast. A ammo pack should be fine for that tbh.
So I get that it’s almost as good in stationary MG role, while it’s better if used as mid-range assault rifle?
(I find the Bren to be an excellent room cleaner as well, thanks to the large mag allowing me to spray from the hip without visibility issues).
Eh, unfortunately I haven’t unlocked large ammo pouches yet, only small ones.
Fair enough. Then the engineer would be handy indeed
Yes, I plan to use it like I use the Bren, mainly as stationary MG and occasionally to storm buildings.
Pretty much yeah, i’d rate the bren as a better point firer due to the larger mag size, but the BAR gets the job done. Compare them both to the mg34 though and cry at the difference :D.
XD Getting to top tier weapons faster would be the whole point of buying the premium squads.
But their premium bonus would be mostly wasted, if their restrictions don’t allow them to be as effective as regular squads.
If you want to be a competent team player you need to have a spawn beacon up, if you cant with a premium squad imho it’s not a good choice unless you have spare slots. IMHO best money you can spend in this game is premium time and buying an extra squad slot or two for your campaign.
Just did it
Then I would wait untill devs implement M1919 infantry wersion.
make sure you get the squad slots while premium time is up, you can buy extras but only while you have premium, and they last once it goes away.
Yeah, I probably will, I find 3 infantry squads to be enough but being able to deploy both a tank and a plane indeed comes handy.
(I went overboard with the 1 year premium deal though, so extra slots aren’t gonna be a problem anytime soon.)
