Yeah the extra vehicle is the biggest plus, but don’t underestimate beign able to have three super-killy squads while still having 1-2 support squads of inf for different strategies/roles/maps.
For example I currently have 2 mg squads with 3 mg34’s each, and an infantry squad full of fg-42’s with another mg as my three super high kill potential squads. Then I have an engineer squad which can build AA/AT/MG and a mortar squad or radioman squad for long range firepower. (will have to change once premium runs out though)
You’re right, yet since the game forces you to use at least 3 different squads before being able to respawn with the first one, I suppose a 3-squad rotation is the most grind-efficient method to level up and max out squads on the way.
With more squads you can have 3 squads you’re levelling which are weak, and still bring 1-2 super powerful squads to win games with (which is the single best exp boost you can get). If your team is solid you play the weak leveling squads, if your team is weak you carry with your good squads and progress in campaign levels fast.
The BAR is A LOT better. It has decent sights, is easier to control and feels like a submachinegun when you are running around hipfiring with it.
Unless you’re really low level and can’t stand the grind, I would recommend waiting until you unlock it, especially as the larger more versatile squad will be much more useful.
Weight/overheating/length I agree with, reliability isn’t good in games, as all it means is that you’re rolling a dice whenever you fire - which is fucken stupid as all it does it infuriate the player when it happens - nobody likes control being taken away from them, particularly when it’s a random chance.
Yeah, it would work in a more slow paced game. Here if your gun jams you probably just die as you are unluckily to have opportunity to get into cover and try to un-jam it.
So far the premium BAR teams don’t seem to disappoint. Despite the lack of an engineer they turn out to be flexible enough, as the guns are very effective at most ranges and with 100 rounds per soldier the ammo count is very reasonable.
Also, the gun + perks combo makes it possible to effectively fire in full auto while standing with SMG-like recoil and accuracy, which is great for aggressive cap points charges / defense.
I figured out that a valid tactic is to spawn first a team with engineers, set up a frontline rally point and ammo crate(s) in a profitable position, then once dead spawn there with BARs and unleash hell.
Bonus: all soldiers come equipped with dynamite, a large backpack and 3 medikits, with the possibility of adding a 4th. This actually boosts survivability quite a lot, since even after being downed once you have enough kits to restore almost full health and still survive being downed a second time. (This is not technically P2W though, since the same can be done with regular soldiers once large backpacks become available).
