It would be great compromise between 85mm is 1 and 122mm is 2. 85 cant front pen king tigers but 122 has way too slow reload. 100mm cannon would be perfect

During the development of the IS-2, Soviet engineers worked on two models, one armed with the 122mm D-25t gun which went on to see mass production and another model armed with the 100mm D-10t.
The D25t variant was developed into the IS-2, a good heavy breakthrough tank suffering from long reload.
The D-10t variant was developed into the IS-100m, a tank combining the excellent mobility and protection of the IS-2 while offering the same powerful fire power as the T-34-100.

IS-2M is a modification from 1957, it is too modern to add.

The actual WW2 IS-2 100mm prototypes have the weak stepped hull and wont be much better than the existing IS-2.

you are wrong my friend.
We are talking about the IS-100M which was developed during WW2 but not accepted for mass production.
IS-100M was built on the base of IS-2 1944 which was for long known as IS-2M before it was redesignated as 1944 var. to avoid confusion with newer 1957 upgraded model IS-2"M".

However IS-100M was competing with IS-3 and IS-2 1944, not T-55 or other cold war tanks.

Well, I became suspicious. After researching, I found out that one version was made after the war and one before the war, but there is not much information about which version is pre-war.

Hmm, you could, of course. But I don’t think so. In War Thunder (and it is from War Thunder we take almost all the equipment, there are exceptions, but they are very few (flamethrower German PZ it in War Thunder was not, but still added. But it’s all exceptions). And in War Thunder T-44-100 is in the Soviet TT, and IS-100 in War Thunder is the main prize of the Battle Pass “Polygon Tests”. A promotional and premium tank.
