The issue with the sinlge 60$ that’s it monetization method is that they have monthly costs, such as servers and labour costs. So I understand subscription-based stuff. I think a battle pass would be better though, especially considering you could have one for each theater. If the progression stays RNG-based like this however, I will not play this game and go play post scriptum instead
Would be nice to see a dev confirm that this is their “premium” account model as it seems to make the game pretty much P2W with the amount of extra features that this adds.
If this stays, I don’t see myself playing this as much post release as I am right now to write bug reports and test features available currently.
I think it will be great if they introduce moltiplicator for the expirience like in War Thunder.
Oh please no! Exactly this have plagued Warthunder, they absolutely need to find an other economic model.
the premium account brings 2 pay to win elements to the table
+1 max infantry in battle
+1 max equipment unit in battle
Here, I asumet they refer to the fact that you can bring 1 tank/plane squad, and 3 infantry squads max in a battle, limiting your flexibility.
Premium users would be able to take both planes and tanks, as well as an extra infantry squad to cover more situations. This would be detrimental for the game as a whole.
i my opinion they should give premium for ever for every alpha tester
and the price “0 for 30 days” on screenshot from russian forum sound legit for me
I personally think a better monetization method would be decals, special uniform skins, etc.
Currently soldiers are randomly generated in terms of looks, but then you could buy uniforms for your squad to match etc, as well as things like diffrent wood (like birch? would love a near-white kar98k) for the rifle stocks, could make fine skins as well.
In my opinion, all weapon improvements should be sidegrades (for example maybe an increase in firerate would come at the cost of accuracy). This would make it so that f2p players dont get stomped by experienced players with objectively better guns
Actually it doesn’t
The real translation of the Russian forum image said
+1 infantry scuad
+1 vehicle scuad
This adds diversity and more tactic options , yes. It does
But is not overpowered,
More scuad is not more spawns ,
Normal players have 3+1 scuads
Premium players would have 4+2 scuads
U know where In a battle you die too much?
The game says “you have no more spawns available” u can only spawn 10 times, not more
This happens in conquest game mode and assault game mode,
Invasion is the only exception
It’s an adventage to have more soldier options and a extra vehicle option , but is not that broken if the spawn limiter is going to be still there,
And in invasion is “kinda” there cause of the reinforcement number ,
They could add a limiter of 15 spawns for player and when capturing a point adding another X number spawn to the invader and defender team
Also the invasion mode fells like unfair
Germans have limited troopers for invading
But Russian have unlimited defenders
Kinda overpowered
in actuality, it would be pretty overpowered. In certain very open maps, flamethrowers are absolutely useless, while they can clutch close quarters captures. Vice versa, the recon/sniper squad is useless in close quarters with their sniper mosins/mausers, but would be pretty strong in open maps. This would allow a premium user to take the best of both, no matter what map they play on. Move versatility = better suited to any map you encounter. On top of that, it allows premium users to spawn in tanks and planes, only requiring them to spawn into 1 infantry squad before being able to return to their respective vehicles, if they so desire. Normal players can not play both tanks and planes.
Yeah, RNG based progression is shit. War Thunder stays fun because the progress is constant based on your level of performance. In Enlisted (and this is my first weekend playing) leveling my armies doesn’t seem to make much difference, unlike unlocking modules for tanks, and unlocking the campaign levels for access to new weaponry is painfully slow and inconsistent.
Game should be fun regardless of the grind. That’s where War Thunder fails in my opinion. I kept grinding with the thought “it’s going to get better” but it didn’t. Once I reached top tier, I played some battles and quit this game. I feel like I’m getting the same feeling while playing Enlisted. You start with poor equipment so logically you want to get better things. This alpha started like few days ago and I already caught myself playing with the purpose of grind, not actually having fun. I don’t get that experience in Battlefield though. When you play it you’re already at competetive level. Everybody has access to all basic things like machine guns, rocket launchers, tanks, etc.
Look what is happening in Enlisted. It’s not that bad right now because this alpha started only few days ago and most of us are at the same level but there were already situaions where some dev/community manager got in plane and absolutely massacred the enemy team. If you don’t have the engineer unlocked, you’re screwed.
Another example, tanks. Once I manage to get in tank, most of the times I massacre the enemies as well. All you have to do is keep moving because nobody has access to anti tank rifles, all they can do is to throw explosives at you. So the most often cause of my death is either the enemy tank, some trench or some desperate enemy.
Still, the biggest problem in this game is progression and randomness. Almost everything is random in Enlisted. You get loot boxes randomly, their loot is random, weapon upgrade is random, even recoil is random. Check out your submachine guns in semi auto mode. Once you shoot it instantly moves to some random position, you can’t control it, especially in full auto mode.
It should be clear when you get the loot box. Maybe for a victory, certain amount of points, every battle or two, etc. I could accept random loot but it definitely should be increased. During the tests in may I would get a box every battle with much more content. Guns, granades or some bandages. Right now most of the times I get a single gun, nothing else. I still haven’t got any granade or bandage. When you’re stuck with the same stuff for a long time, it gets boring.
Random recoil should definitely be fixed though. Guns’ sights shouldn’t teleport to different position.
I personally don’t have an issue with a F2P model as long as the business practices are not ridiculously predatory, and a premium account is a standard part of almost any monetized F2P title so that part doesn’t bother me as much personally.
What I can’t stand is the glacially slow–and not gradual at all–progression for what feels like an incredible amount of effort. The reason I enjoyed War thunder is that the effort vs reward ratio is much better balanced in my opinion than in say Wargaming’s products.
What I would rather have–instead of the frankly insulting RNG logistics system–is a proper, in-game store that allows players to purchase the specific equipment they want with IN-GAME CURRENCY. Rather than each item being a single order, make every item be worth several depending on what it is. Say an SMG like the MP-35 is worth 10-15 orders and only grants you a stock model. You can either then use that weapon in one of your squads (assuming the soldiers you have can equip it) or break it down for parts to upgrade others.
I should also mention here that this system would require a rather significant increase in the amount of orders earned per battle.
Soldiers could also be purchased with their own orders but in BOTH cases I DON’T think you should be able to buy maximum upgraded equipment & soldiers right off the bat as that would bypass a significant part of the squad progression and be pretty pay 2 win.
On a final note, if there’s going to be any sort of “random loot-drops” they should be a reward granted post battle like the Silver lion and backups that are sometimes granted after a War Thunder battle. Maybe you could get extra soldiers under the guise of “liberated” POW’s or something.
TL;DR:
Ditch the RNG Logistics and give us a fairly priced in-game store to buy what we want. Good luck selling people on Lootboxes.
I agree with your argument about RNG-based model but the way I see it is that F2P is the root of all problems.
Imagine if Enlisted was a pay to play game. How would the progression look? You wouldn’t have any loot boxes. If you unlocked a weapon, it would become available for every soldier of certain class. Campaign? It would be much shorter and most important classes like pilot, anti tank, engineer would be available at the beginning or very early. No premium, everybody unlock stuff at the same rate. All of that sound fair in my opinion.
Regular economy model with currency would turn it into Heroes & Generals 2.0. I can’t even tell which one would be better then. Enlisted may have better graphics but H&G has a larger scale. That’s not important though.
If Gaijin really wants to make Enlisted F2P, why don’t they monetize cosmetics then. Give everybody the basic uniform and make the rest buyable or unlockable. Then they can remove the RNG, make stuff easier to get and everybody would be happy.
Currently this game seems like a cash grab.
Enlisted was originally going to be a standard game monetization wise, but the community voted for it to be free 2 play after the backing for the game was complete. And as nice as a “pay it once” progression system would be. The fact of the matter is that it’s not likely to change back to such a model anytime soon if at all. So the way I see it there’s hardly any point in telling them that.
The issue H&G had was that they threw so many insane grind walls to get literally anything, that you were basically forced to pony up and pay to get anywhere. And with enough cash, you quite literally could get ANYWHERE.
Enlisted has the foundations here for a pretty fair system regarding progression. You earn xp to unlock new regiments which offer a variety of playstyles and units with no current way of bypassing that progression that doesn’t involve playing and using other free mechanics. This system so far seems purely held back by the rate of progression and the BS RNG lootbox mechanic.
And as much as I would love a pure cosmetics system for monetizing the game, gaijin has no previous history of doing such a thing and I highly doubt they will adopt such a system now. I also have my doubts as to how much revenue such a system will ACTUALLY make compared to similar systems like War Thunder. The only places I’ve seen such a system work is in massive Battle royale titles like Fortnite and Apex etc. And those games have millions upon millions of players to pull revenue from. Enlisted is very likely going to be an incredibly niche title.
Considering however that we still don’t know the full extent of the monetization system I’m reserved in calling this game a ruined cashgrab. There’s still time to adjust the progression to a good balance point.
Agreed. Just improving grind speed by like 5-10% and removing the RNG would be ideal
So far i have no problems ranking up levels or geeting soldiers/weapons.
And the premium if its just that i m all ok with it.
I would get bored if i had everything right away.
I don’t like making it personal but seriously, why are people like that? I don’t want another game for addicts like War Thunder. It should be fun. If you try to hide that fun behind the grind, it means that game isn’t good. Every update in War Thunder is like content, content, content, content, content. More and more things to grind. Meanwhile game isn’t improving very much. Top tier is the best example. Yes, you have those cool new jets with anti air missiles but you’re still fighting on the same maps, with the same objectives as you did on your korean era jet few years ago.
If you get bored after getting everything, what’s the point of playing the game? Sooner or later you are going to get everything you want. Are you going to stop playing then?
Well, I am back once again to tell you i’ve done the math reguarding the grind fest of enlisted:
For a average player on Enlisted, you’ll earn around 1500-2500 experience give or take.
The average time duration is around 20 minutes which also give or take.
And lets say you want to level up to level 8 on Enlisted. By combinding all experience required to reach that level, in total would be around 307700 experience.
By dividing 307700 experience by 2000 experience (307700/2000), you’ll get around 150-160 games depending how much you earn per game.
By assuming you’ll have bad luck or not doing so well, you’ll have to play around 160 matches in order to reach level 8.
Now, to figure out how long it will take before you reach it. We’ll have to multiply the amount of matches, which is 160 matches times 20 minutes of gameplay on each match.
You’ll get around 3200 minutes, and converting it to hours: 53 hours of pure grind to reach level 8. Let alone it will take longer for those which has school or work.
I am level 8 and have not yet put in 53 hours, I think I am closer to 40 hours. I do feel they slightly increased the grind speed in the last 1-2 days, which is nice
