change Explosion Packs so they work with a manually triggered blasting machine or if you want to throw it you can prime it with a fuse.
The way the explosion packs could work is similar to the Engineers Hammer, you on equip could pull out a Wire Spool that places an Explosion Pack on the ground upon clicking the shoot button and wires them automatically (for ease of use), you can then press the building menu key to open the ring menu to switch to the Hand Held Blasting Machine that can be used inside the radius of the wire length or the Blasting Box that you have to place on the ground to use with the same wire length constraints, there can be another ring menu option that will make the soldier prime the Explosion Pack with a timed fuse so you can throw it.
also a single explosion pack shouldn’t be able to instakill any vehicle below 20mm armour thickness
Blasting Machine (Hand Held) 1 Charge Min / 3 Charges Max that is unless you want the actual cap limit and that’s 10 max
Blasting Box (Must Be Placed) 1 Charge Min / 27 Charges Max this one can realistically handle 50 blasting caps but i think a 9 man squad with large grenade packs of detpack mines is about as crazy as you wanna get with these
Then give AT Gunners a grenade that was actually designed to blow tanks up the “Satchel Charge” and change AT Gunners default perk to
+1 Additional Mines Space
also the Satchel Charges should stick to the top of vehicles because its in a canvas bag with a shoulder strap that can easily get stuck on the topside of a tank Satchel Charge/M37 Demolition Kit (Allies AT Gunner Grenade)

As for explosives, I would like just one thing. Possibility to attach explosives directly to the tank, and so on. But to keep all of this from sounding too much of an OP, you should do so by “spinning the time wheel” (just like building an object with an engineer).
your half right, but in place of the general purpose hand-held mininuke that everyone can equip i want to add a new mini-nuke that only the AT Gunner can equip.
in the video they do things extra slow so you can actually see what they are doing, in actual combat they would be moving 10x as fast. and your expected to get it right the first time in combat cause you can’t walk out on the field and check your wiring when the tank is coming down the road
i want to change the pocket nuke every soldier has into manually detonated explosives, while retaining the pocket nuke for the AT Gunner only.
the difference between the current pocket nuke and the pocket nuke the AT Gunner will have is the Satchel Charge is a 4kg High Explosive charge that when thrown ontop of a tank will stay stuck on the top of a tank until it detonates
the grenade im suggesting they give the AT Gunner is basically a buffed version of the current Detpack so idfk why soo many people are against it… maybe its because people will abruptly have no magical hand-held AT nuke for every soldier… forcing people to actually develop some tact when dealing with tanks
Another option would be a new Pioneer Class. Similar variants of explosives would then be possible by purposefully balancing them. The only question is whether there would be a need for such a class to emerge that existing ones (such as flamethrowers and mortar, radio operators) still require a lot of tuning.
why bother when everything can be integrated into AT Gunners, they for all intensive purposes are “Demolition Specialists” the soldier class that would be handling most of the high explosives,
so give them an anti-tank specialist grenade
extra mine spaces as a default perk instead of the current change pose speed perk… like that’s useless…
and finally improve the AT Gunners Launchers so they actually blow tanks up in 1-2 shots and not just slightly damage them after 6 shots…
Except that kind of fights against your realism argument as the AT gunners used AT guns & such specialty weapons.
While the hand held AT weaponry was mostly reserved for regular infantry.
Ive heard about 1 KV1 that was taken out with similar charges, other than that such wired explosives were hardly ever used against tanks.
except it doesn’t fight against my realism argument because Satchel Charges also known as M37 Demolition Kits in the US army we issued mainly to demolitions specialists…
and that’s the beauty of it… most people will use the dynamite as anti-infantry explosives for when the attackers are advancing on the defenders… think about the possibilities for the defenders to have charges they can use to strip mine the entrances of a point where they know the enemies are gonna be coming from.
they won’t just be used to mine roads that are used for tank traffic but would be highly effective for that usage either way.
If you want a demolition specialist that brings pretty much nothing new to the game, up to you.
The detpacks will remain ingame free for all regardless you like it or not.
So it would be used against infantry rather than tanks. So what exactly are you asking for ? More explo spam against inf ?
I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, according to the squad building style now in the game. Because this class would be too dominant in the field of explosives, and also keep in mind that both overall gameplay and current maps don’t require such a huge arsenal of a wide variety of unnecessary explosives.
If, say, the squad were recycled so that, say (like we have now but with more depth) squad level 1, level 2, level 3, etc., you would periodically unlock certain equipment, and matchmaking would assign you to battles according to your level, where you would be sure,. to meet the appropriate enemy technique where you can use new more powerful explosives, then maybe so.
But it certainly won’t be, because such a sophistication model in the style of the current game-play will simply not be popular.

i thought i made that clear at the top of this thread… honestly did you non read any of it… im proposing to turn the detpack into a defensive explosive that can be triggered with a hand held blasting machine or a placed blasting box… how the soldier chooses to use it and what the soldier uses it against is completely up to the player… plus im retaining the ability for them to blow most tanks up with a single charge because they are now being detonated underneath the tanks since they are being placed in/on the ground… and the bottom armour on most tanks dips below 20mm thickness… so that’s realistic
i am keeping the fact that “demolition specialists” are very dominant in the field of using explosives in mind… the fact that nobody wants to acknowledge is that 1.2kg packs of dynamite were not standard issue to normal footsoldiers or to any class outside the realm of demolitions specialists… since dynamite was brought into the field in boxes of single sticks that were taped together on the fly and a fuse was then shoved in… fuses weren’t standard issue equipment they were issued to soldiers that would make use of them… the Demolitions Specialists… now since the AT Gunner specializes in explosives its not too far out of the realm of sanity for a Demolitions Specialist to be an AT Gunner…

im not just trying to take away your precious every soldier equip-able tank cure im trying to realistically implement explosives how they actually were issued and used… if your had knowledge in demolitions you would usually be the guy handling the dynamite so you would also have a blasting machine and a wire spool… any soldier can do that… but for the AT grenade the 4kg bag of RDX & PETN plastique explosive that was something only handled by soldiers who were designated for AT engagement

Give the AT squad prober AT gun. 88 capable to destroy any tank at any given range probably does the trick.
Well i guess people can settle to H3 and other specific AT explosives that everyone can use. That way you dont have to worry about your realistic wirespools and what else.

the problem with keeping detpacks as they are is nobody would fucking use the new AT Grenade because the detpack is just as fucking effective…
the way im proposing AT Gunners are equipped is they would have a working AT launcher that kills tanks in 1-2 shots like they should… they would then have the option to equip a satchel charge AT grenade, and would be able to equip 2 mines
and with a large grenade bag they can equip 3 satchel charges
Well im sure if AT gunners had 88 capable to destroy tanks at all ranges would make it more appealing choise. Throw in HE shells as well and no one would use anything else.
Detpacks can be remodeled to H3, still capable to destroy every tank but 0 use against infantry.
And still universal free for all at weapon.
