Imbalanced Tanks

The first tank squads Axis receives for just about any campaign (except Berlin) is significantly superior to Allied tanks; however, as soon as Allies get slightly higher level tank squads Axis stands no chance in tank vs tank combat. One example of this is Battle of Stalingrad: the KV 1 is (in my experience) 100% impenetrable, even from a closeup 90 degree side angle. Another example is the Battle of Moscow T 28, a significantly better tank than what most Axis are fielding. Since Enlisted is intended to be a historical game I would think that Germans field generally speaking superior tanks, whilst the Russians field a generally higher number of tanks. This should prove to be the most historically accurate and balanced solution.

You are wrong. Late German tanks are a consequence of the Axis meeting REALLY strong Soviet tanks. At the time of the first battles KV1 was practically invulnerable to 37-50mm German guns and only antiaircraft 88mm penetrated them steadily (there were cases when Soviet tanks broke through positions right up to antiaircraft batteries)
The T-34 struck with rational armor angles and was not an easy target at the beginning of the war either.
The Germans were winning through perfect blitzkrieg tactics, competent command, tank strikes, and encirclement.
From a game point of view, yes, some German tanks are weaker than Soviet tanks, but the Germans kind of get a better attacker plane and some other stuff.
I’m not saying the balance is perfect, but this game isn’t about complete equality in everything.

remind me why the medium and long 75mm were used again? oh right t-34 and KV-1 was a pain in the ass for the germans to deal with

I recommend you learn to flank and use the “x” ray option, it will make your life easier and you will stop thinking that allied tanks are OP.

In real life the 37mm could and did consistently kill t34s

clearly not since they switched over to the 50. 75 and 88 instead of constantly using the 37mm

Well, its complicated. In theory, the 37mm could not penetrate a T-34, but due to how low quality many of the T-34s were made, they were able to kill them with some level of consistency. However, due to how unreliable this was, the 75 was moved to.

ahhhh maybe because upgrading is a thing? and larger guns allow for the same effect but at longer ranges

You’ve unlocked the PZ4 F2 right ? if so, you should aim at the KV1 driver port, usually it’ll kill it instantly. same as the T28 in moscow aim at the driver port or if its camping in the greyzone blow it to smithereen with a stuka. the T28 is a big tank so you can’t miss it

Also lemme guess you’re struggling fighting a Jumbo in the normandy campaign too ? A puma is all you need to counter it just drive pass by it and pray no infantry is supporting the tank so you can “troll” him by penetratin its side armor

Well. Ve heard different stories about T-60 vs. Panzer II (most Germans are too dumb to go for the mantlet). Same goes for midlevel in Berlin (people who have issues to kill a T-34 with a Panther are noobs at this point) and Normandy. Only Moscow is on a similiar level and KV is best tank in Stalingrad anyway and Grant is best. Late-wise Axis is better in Berlin (IS is crap while Tiger is a good sidegrade and Normandy. Tunisia feels similiar to me with the Sherman, Crusader vs. Panzer IV F2 and Moscow and Stalingrad is in favor of Soviets.

Oh man. This crap is still a thing or what? Early T-34s were unreliable? Well. How were the Panther and Tiger models? Super-unreliable?

Stalingrad is a very poor example.
Other campaigns have perfect german tanks, or lets say: The balance is ok.
The T-28 is not as good as you think: I one shot it even frontal.
I really see no big issues with the german tank arsenal in the game.

Huh, I don’t know why you think that.)
I’d like to be involved in game design, at least a little bit.
There are a lot of good ideas that the developers don’t see

It`s nice to see someone who knows their history :grinning:

In fact, it was a surprise to me when I read about it once. What is written in the post is more of a myth and more about the middle of the war.
At that time Soviet tanks really took numbers.
After some study of history, German military victories seem surprising because they had nothing spectacular.
It is frightening to imagine what would have happened if they had 1.5 million PPSh like the Soviets or 7 million m1 garand.
Apparently good tactics and reconnaissance brought them most of their victories. However, I am glad they lost. The world has changed a lot since then.

I will try that, thanks for the advice!

I mostly agree with you. Most German tanks were definitely outclassed by the T-34 which is why they produced the Panther which featured a gun with higher penetration power than just about any other tank of the war (except for the Sherman Firefly) and made good use of angled armor. There is however also the Tiger. Tiger tanks killed 11.52 tanks for every one of their own destroyed in battle. This goes to show that Tiger’s were significantly superior to their opposition.
