Ill be up front; Goliath tracked vehicle -

Interesting idea for German/Romanian squads in future Eastern Front content updates?

It would be incredibly powerful against tanks, perhaps same power as Xplosion packs when striking tank booty , but detonate on impact. An engineer squad leader would steer the Goliath using binoculars.
Part of the balance would be is it is difficult to steer AND can also be blown up at any time with 1 shot by AT rifle so you can also get countered hard if it hasn’t gotten far yet.

Would make for a cool fun way to produce memes but also be historically accurate right? They did participate

good idea but it will never be added, too difficult to balance and use effectively.

What he said, but I don’t know about the balance. If they work like they did historically, they’d be difficult to operate, dependent on a cable laid behind them, and move not much faster than a fast walk, and if they added the gas engine version, probably loud. They’d have to spawn in with the squad, because they weigh too much to be carried, and then driven while you walked to a place where you could see a good target, then driven to the target without getting destroyed by AT weapons, TNT packs, or a tank, or the cable severed/compromised by bullets or shrapnel. I don’t think they’d be imbalanced, I think they’d be so hard to use they’d never see play. Would be hilarious to drive the equivalent of a 50kg bomb into a group of enemies or under a tank, though.

Edit: damn thing didn’t even have a camera. Would have been hard to do at the time, but can you imagine being the soldier ordered to drive one of these things at the enemy, while you or someone else observes and guides it to the target, all the while the enemy knows it’s coming and is actively trying to destroy it or you before it can explode? No thanks.

This post makes most of the arguments I wanted to make. If you want to make it balanced, the enemy team would need something similar, and I am not sure that such a weapon existed.

If you wanted to make it historical, you would have to take into account the connection cable which was very vulnerable to explosions, artillery, small arms fire from observant infantry players. And indeed - that physical cables at this level were not immune from malfunction.

Perhaps in custom battles, but in random battles, it’s rather more problematic.

Yes I agree with all of this ! It would be kind of a gimmick squad, perhaps a premium to say to history whales… like me  But also, my gosh the satisfaction of getting tank kills and squad wipes with that thing especially if they throw in a couple of unique explosion animations chefs kiss lol

Edit: Also, the ahead of its time nature of the thing, while it is rickety , makes it very interesting and it has hardly at all been implemented in games besides COH to small degree.

I love the weird history stuff we get in premiums and events, too, but I can’t imagine spending money for a premium squad that was that hard to use.

Another clarification; They would basically give us a 4 star premium squad with similar stats to other prem engis. They would just have unique uniform and the one guy would have a goliath to deploy. Maybe not have to “follow them” or have to be on the back of a truck, but just “deployed” arcade style like the other engineer deployables

how do u even sit on that

you dont? is used at distance

you cant drive a tank like that

I support the addition of Goliath, yes it may be quite OP in the right hands, especially on defense, but it is a worthy option for an end-game unlock.
