Just started 3 days ago.
I see some people having 75+ kills in-game, and I can hardly scratch 10 kills per game. Any nice tips and tricks? I main tanks and AT riflemen, and I do not have any machine gunners as they are inaccurate and deal little damage.
Also forgot to add, I have very slow reaction time due to the controls being drastically different compared to War Thunder, and a potato computer that runs <30 fps with minimal graphics.
engineer is most important class in the game → build rally points close to cap
get assaulters as second infantry unlock-> they make clearing caps much easier with smg
dont bother with starter tank, they are mostly only useful against infantry and are easy target.
stay at BR2 so you are in low BR MM.
Which camp do you play?
Use a submachine gun as your main weapon
my suggestion is
Medical team, commando team, truck, plane (aviation bomb priority)
There must be at least one engineer
Don’t hide behind and use hand-pulled rifle weapons to sneak up on enemies
Use submachine guns to suppress and occupy strongholds
The experience gain rate of vehicles is not as high as that of infantry
If the bomb cannot be released effectively, please directly use the kamikaze attack to destroy the enemy ground vehicle.
Otherwise, the time it takes for you to resupply will be enough for the enemy to destroy you or kill more friendly troops.
If your tank cannot effectively attack the enemy, it can be used as a light vehicle to assault the stronghold.
This is definitely better than hiding behind and sneaking up on the monkey with a machine gun and then being blown away by the enemy.
Not sure what do you mean by camp, but I play sniper, riflemen, anti tank and tank brigades in the USSR faction. I found the medical brigade really hard to use (only 3 members, and machine guns which are inaccurate)
Also how to get engineer?
My strategy is usually rush enemies with a tank, then spawn in sniper or AT brigade when dead. Is that ok? or BAD.
snipers is usually considered bad , this game is arcade enought that staying behind with it will make ur stats and win rate drop off ,so ur better of rush in and going for flanks and weaks spot on the enemy lines as for camps he mean faction is something that asian ppl say
then as ppl are saying starter vehicles are bad for all factions
and yes dont worry about getting squad wiped ,life doesnt matter in this game unless ur attacking and already lost 300 tickets on a single point and for defense/conquest is free real state
Lol, wanted to get some Vasily Zaitsev action in, doesn’t seem very applicable for this game. Your hinting I should change the sniper brigade for the infantry one, yeah?
if u want u can still use snipers to kill enemy campers or quick scope or if u are still adjusting to this is better to use whathever u perform better or have more fun at the end of teh day is a videogame , the riflemen squad is good only cuz once the squad is level up is a 9 man squad but that about it
Thanks, noted.
Try to get closer, do not be afraid of getting killed. It will get some time to get used to. Since u play ussr, smgs should really be you focus
I generally recommend the TEAM setup to start out. Get comfortable with Bolts as you will use them a lot early on.
TEAM:
T: Transport Squad (Spawn Truck) Drive it into battle, park outside the capture zone and use as a team spawn point. You can have 1 truck and 1 rally point active as a player … 10 rally points and 3 trucks as a team. Each time an ally spawns, you get points. These can be used in lieu of a tank or plane , but are effectively an assault squad that you drive into battle with.
E: Engineer Squad (Engineers can and should be in all applicable squads as can build Rally Points (Spawn Beacon - Each time an ally spawns, you get points. - Note: The ghost animation has an arrow … that faces the direction the spawn faces when it is used.) and Ammo boxes … but certain squads also can be upgraded to deal with other threats through gun emplacements: Engineer squad can build AT Guns and Anti Air Cannons (Note: Engineer II Squads that you unlock later can also build LMG Nests).
A: AT Gunner Squad Dealing with vehicles is important, not only for your team, but also increase your point / XP gains as you get a fair bit for vehicle destructions. AT Gunner Squad engineers can be upgraded to build an AT Gun as well.
M: Machine Gunner Squad. Gives a fully automatic threat. Engineers of this squad can be upgraded to build a heavy machine gun nest as well (.50cal +). If you do not enjoy Machine guns and would prefer a SMG, a Medic Squad works well here as well as you can gain lots of experience from healing allies and reviving them.
A Note: Don’t rush with tanks … this is due to 1: They can’t capture points anyway and 2: vehicle squads cost 2x the tickets to spawn (Less of an issue on defense where you don’t worry about tickets).
Snipers are generally looked down on by the community. This is mostly due to the game highly rewarding aggressive play, and lack of bodies on objective can lose a game outright. Just know there is nothing wrong with learning from afar. If needed I do recommend not sitting in the back though … much better to push to the flanks … killing enemies and spotting tanks on approach to the objective while putting a flanking rally is FAR better than sitting in the back sniping them off the objective … they will just keep coming, and the longer they are there the more mines and defenses can be placed to keep your team from the objective.
The GAZ-AA truck is still unlocked for me
Other than that, thanks a lot for the tips. I will take note.
This is bad, I bought radio operators instead of Engineer for my AT-brigade yesterday
I agree that sniping is generally bad - but this particular guy mentioned having a potato computer AND being new. It’s probably not a bad idea to cut your teeth, Warner7, on sniping for a few matches to start getting used to the ebb and flow of play.
Since a team can only have two tanks at a time, taking up a tank slot when you hardly know how to play is arguably the worst thing you can do.
Machine guns are more inaccurate the farther you are from someone. Also, you can mount heavy machine guns and of course, dive to the ground, which is not a bad idea in any situation, as it makes you harder to see and your shots (with any gun) more accurate. (It’s the Z key on a PC.)
When you are first starting out, you won’t have a lot of options unless you put some money into the game; I was lucky a month ago when I started they had a sale going (and I still spent way too much money - particularly on a few units that were either too high a level and I get me squashed in the higher tier matches or too low level and do the same thing in the lower tier matches).
But, a couple of key points that I experienced:
-
It only takes ONE (a single) “BR III” gun (or vehicle) on any one of your squad members in any squad you have going into a game to put you into the higher tier matches which makes the game much harder. If you happen to have purchased some units, beware of this.
-
Don’t be scared to snipe at first, but there’s only ten people per side per match, and if there are more than a couple of people sniping, it’s almost a guarantee the side is going to lose. So, when your side is getting very close to capping/getting the strategic point, join the crowd and rush that point. You make more points for winning than losing, and it obviously is just a lot more satisfactory and makes for happy fellow-teammates as well.
Just noticed a lot of people saying “don’t snipe!” which is fair - but when you first start out and have a slow PC, it could be your only option. But for the same reason, don’t use a tank slot.
-
If you spawn into a truck/half-track, hit F and get out of it quickly! Drives me nuts when people sit in a half-track not realizing they are preventing their team mates from popping into the battle quickly.
-
As you level up your squads, choose the “XP” options in the Upgrade tree first, so the squads level up quickly. Also, you’ll have the chance to add engineers, snipers, assault, anti-tank, etc to those squads - and yes, an engineer is probably the most helpful one you can add to help your team and get passive points.

I’ve found I’m far harder to hit when I’m moving than when I’m stationary. I think it has at least something to do with framerates and latency, but if you’re moving and the other guy is sitting still, you’ll likely react faster than the other guy, as on their machine, they may not see you yet. It’s one reason why I see people somehow shooting me through walls - even though I have a fast machine, it still has to move across the internet and my toon is basically dead before I even have a chance to react.
If that makes any sense.
Unless you buy an APC/“spawn truck” - they take a while to get on the research tree. I do highly recommend the half-tracks, however, if you do want to spent money. They’re more durable, the squads you get/that come with them are extremely flexible, they can really help your team and you, and of course, you get double xp with the squads that come with them, as they are a premium.
If I were to recommend ONE thing to buy, at this point, it would be the half-track on the German or Russian sides. (The Russian is an American half-track, which is kind of ironic, since the Americans have to work their way up to using a truck, and no half-track!).
Hope this helps and good luck! Welcome to a pretty cool game! Just don’t get too frustrated with the hosed up matchmaking. They’re working on it, I think.
Thank you for the details, tips and effort you have put in this post.
I thought I would perform good with tanks due to me playing War Thunder since 2019, seems like I have mistaken
Well, if you’re amazing in a tank, then by all means. I didn’t know you had similar experience. I’ve just seen some newer players who hop into tanks, and since they’re a limited and very valuable resource, better to avoid them at first.
But, if you’re getting a lot of kills and helping the team win, then, by absolutely knock yourself out!
Try playing a few custom games to get the hang of how the game plays. Custom games are normally slower than the mayhem you will find on the main servers. Welcome onboard
First mistake, you SHOULD like machine guns BECAUSE of your slower reaction time. They DO cause high damage, and keep it over distance. You MUST crouch or prone before firing with them for accuracy.
But as the rrst probably said, start to main engineers more: everyone will love you and you’ll make a lot of money and xp EVEN with a low kill count.
It’s not really the highest kill count that wins matches.
