How much armor does KV1 actually have?

says 75mm, but considering that my 140mm penetration gun bounces quite often this cant be correct right?

KV1 isnt OP - its bugged I bet

Surprised?

If You shoot to the side at the back of the turret where ammo Even with a panzerfausts for some reason it eats the proyectile

Seems that Even it’s hitbox is modeled propelly trust

Yeah, good ol’ 75mm of Stalinium.

This is one of my favourite pictures from the Eastern Front. It just brings a chill down my spine thinking what those guys standing there must have felt, seeing that monstrosity of a tank resisting multiple hits, continuing moving and firing back. I mean, that tank crewman looks like he’s having a thousand yard stare. That was some intense serious sh*t, I bet.

So I like this detail in Enlisted of the KV-1’s infamous heavy armor for its time. So before anyone suggests nerfing it, I coordially say no.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the KV-1 is much weaker now than what it just to be. Compared to Stalingrad where the only thing you had to fight against this giant was a Grb-39, or suiciding with a TNT charge. Now there’s plenty more options. The only redeemable thing in the KV-1 is the armor, as the gun is average at best and it’s quickly outperformed in an uptier. Right now the KV-1 is exactly where it should be.

I instead suggest Germany should get more options in tank destroyers for low BR, to represent a historical fact of the Werhmacht’s penchant for improvising SPGs early in the war. Also lowering the StuG III family of vehicles one BR.

Well those were most certainly 50mm hits from Panzer III J - which was all the Germans had at the time.

I am talking about KV1 apparently having 150mm of armor.

The corollary is that it therefore does not bounce quite often too.

Angles matter.

Skill issue I bet

Hitting 75mm of armor with a 140mm penetration gun is how exactly skill issue?

well… Yesterday, I knocked out the pz 3E ammunition from the bazooka…he just blushed and drove on
Get on board!!!
We have obvious problems with anti-tank weapons.

I remember seeing one ally KV taking 5 explosion packs and one tnt charge on Stalingrad while being surrounded by Germans, I was trying to shoot them down, and it won

Hm maybe I should… KV1 turret specifically seems harder to penetrate than IS1 and T34 85 turret despite having less armor, also I have noticed that Panzer IV F2 has it even worse than Panzer IV H despite the difference between the L48 and L43 being kinda small.

Yesterday had a match where i managed to die like 4 times in a row despite shooting and hitting first with my Panzer IV Js, don’t know whats the matter with its turret hit box, but I think something is not working right.

I will say, Ive never had issues killing a KV-1 with an appropriate tank, where the KV-1 was truly a horror was when it used to face BR1, that was unfathomably unfair.

KV-1 has 75mm armour on the front as well as on its sides. An angled KV-1 is indestructible for BR2 tanks and even BR3 tanks can get trolled by it.

Armour wise, its a BR4 tank, but it’s cannon is BR2/3 so DF should have replaced the cannon with a more powerful one for BR4, but Enlisted devs in their infinite wisdom have never ever modified weapons and vehicles even when literally everyone was begging for it. (Beretta 38 20 rounds Vs Ppsh41, Pz IV H Vs Jumbo)

well, I am aware of that I guess, but without angling and shooting the turret frontally, it will most of the time bounce my Panzer IV H,J hits unless in close range.
IS1, T34-100 or T34 85 turret bounces less than KV1, there is something very inconsistent about that.

despite turret and chassis having both 75mm of armor, KV1 is much much harder to take out when shooting the turret. Thats my point, and I cant figure out why that might be the case.

I totally disagree with this. I never had issues with KV1’s turret. Quite the opposite, turrets of T-34/85 or IS feels way more bouncy.

wait, where are you aiming?
if you aim too close to the side armour of the turret, your shell will also hit the sider armour thus increasing the KV-1´s armour from 75mm to 150-250mm (same applies to Panther and Tiger II!)
this is where you want to aim:

A little guide here:

works with Panzer III J1 and M as well (for the most part)

However if you end up like this:

you might have a spot a where you can pen, like on the picture, but going after its cannon might work better. Once he turns the turret on you, you should be able to pen no problem.

well if you dont shoot the very angled areas of their round front you will penetrate them quite regularly, KV1 is pretty flat overall, maybe its gun shield absorbs unusual amounts of damage?

Okay, after checking, I guess I understand now, its turret not only has a lot of overlapping armor plates - its side armor is also 75mm thick - which ultimately means that the side plates of the turret also overlap with its frontal armor.

I guess this actually makes alot of sense, never realized that, KV1 has actually quite comparable armor to Tiger I wow.
