FG42 has just enough damage to down/kill in one shot against Soldier with Vitality up close. If you add 10% damage reduction from body armor you will always survive one shot from FG42 unless its a headshot.
That being said it is still true that FG42 has a bigger magazine than AVT and shoots faster - which is undeniably a big benefit, however since FG42 II had actually a slower rate of fire than in game, and 20 round AVT magazines existed, this difference doesn’t need to exist.
My complaint is that a two shot FG42 has no purpose when STG44 also kills in two shots - the whole idea about those select fire rifles is that they are heavy hitters, kinda like battle rifles and not Assault rifles - they play differently, so all I am asking for is that FG42 gets the same damage per shot as US and Soviet Select fire rifles - which would make it no longer be effected in close range from body armor…
