WW2 is practically mythical at this point, thanks to the influence of movies and such. It means things like this where people claim not being dark and gritty was unrealistic, and it also means anything that doesn’t fall in line with their vision of WW2 isn’t just a slight inaccuracy
Maps that I really enjoyed from BFV are Arras, Crete, Panzerstorm (Belgium countryside), Rotterdam (the two versions the winter ashy one and the regular), Operation Underground (Hamburg I think?) The only thing that was missing for me, and one of the main reasons I found Enlisted is that Battlefield V was missing out the Eastern Front completely. It was a very Western Allies-focused game. But their map design was great (Sound design was also amazing)
I wouldn’t mind a green Iwo ijma people forget here that America bombarded the sh*t out that small Island.
Iwo Jima was not green by the time Marines landed though. Much like how Peleliu was stained white by sulfur, Iwo Jima had been bombarded for days with thousands of pounds of ordinance. Little if any green vegetation remained.
My point, was it was green , before anyone blew it up
And it green again
Nice link @Adamnpee
makes me want to play WT naval again
Wow that naval point blank firing, gave me a hard on
12:35 That guy was still alive; he was wounded, and they dropped him to get to cover
Hard words for someone who never played them as well.
Was amazed camera man was still alive when i watched that moment, where they drop him and bolt for cover.
PS, we need some of those rocket jeeps
Just make good looking jungles and they represent sth.
Iwo Jima was already debunked by being more depressed-looking than it was, but BFV maps are even more generic than Enlisted maps, with the only ones being Rotterdam and Iwo Jima. Are the Norway maps representative?
That is because BFV has no faction bias; you can’t choose a faction, and everyone can use everything except tanks and planes.
Enlisted maps are terrible, but everything comes down to players not equally populating factions.
Last time i checked Enlisted and Battlefield 5 were not owned by the same company.
I have played US faction, this from few week ago.
I have BR V for all factions, and BR IV for japan
but US tree, except for those foldered, extras, i have finished the US tree, and its a problem for me
Was never meant to actually finish a tree and i have, and its annoying, as in my head, i finished the game sort of thing.
Yeah, a lot of my concern with this is that a lot of the maps seem to have been compressed in a way that infantry is barely exposed to open ground at all, which in reality is what made the war so lethal in many cases.
Fortifications on both sides, smoke for pushes, etc are all barely used in comparison to what they should be, simply because the map sizes are forced small.
Look at D-Day for example. The stretch of beach that it portrays is nowhere close to as large as it reasonably should be.
BFV maps are designed for 32v32 human players, while this game is 10v10 and contains a large number of bots and more powerful vehicles.
You will notice that maps in enlisted are generally extremely narrow, while maps in most regular 32v32 fps games are wide, this difference comes for a reason.
Regarding the trees on Iwo Jima, they are growing in a manner of speaking.
This is the remains of last year’s Iwo Jima tochka.
Iwo Jima in BFV sucked ass.
most of the maps in BFV are far, far far far too small, especially for planes.
the sound always breaks for me in BF games, it sounds nice for a bit but then the sound quickly degrades,
I’m a PC player though.
the one thing BFV has over enlisted is the Bipods, they copied the Red Orchestra system for a lot of them, which was nice, though the BF fanbase HATED it apparently.
They had problem of ppl camping in a corner with MG and killing everybody who tries to use the doors. Later MGs got nerfed quite a bit (instead of fixing the issue but that’s only my thoughts).
Personally I really like them. Much more fun than what we have here.
I played the PS4 version and the audio was flawless, with no sound cuts or degrades. Bipods, yes, those were amazing.
On the topic of maps, I think Enlisted could learn some things from BF V, but improve on them. I think a good majority of us want bigger maps that can allow a more strategic type of playing, otherwise playing the same few old maps, same grey zone layout burns out very quick. And of course, better textures and more accesable areas would do wonders to even what we have right now, and what could come next in the future. They’ve also done some great maps by themselves too, but we’re limited by how and where we’re allowed to play.
as far as sound goes idk I think it might just be PC; (amd chips more likely… which is weird because PS4 and xbone uses AMD chips)… it cracks for me and occassionally goes mute… also the sound balance is all wonky and voices get too muted.
I’d want there to be additional destruction similar to battlefield, but toned down (perhaps with structures having more “health”/requiring greater threshholds of damage to destroy components of).
In addition I’d like there to be more strategic maps but I’d look at copying Red Orchestra 2, or Rising Storm more accurately, maps; BF has the problem of the core game mode, Conquest, being the least-strategic thing I can think of.
