Ho-Ri "production" and "prototype" are fictional

  1. Real life feasibility

Think about Japan in (late) WW2: they are being pushed on all fronts, they are being bombed, they don’t have any resources and the ones they have are sent towards the navy and planes.

Look at (real) Japanese tanks, their engines, armor, armament: the best Japan could do were Chi-Ha Kai and Ha-Go.

Do you really believe Japan was able to magically switch to a whole Ferdinand lookalike with impenetrable armor and a huge gun?

  1. War Thunder forgery

Both vehicles were added to War Thunder out of necessity to add something at all (WT is only about vehicles) and based on the suggestion of their paid consultant under the username MaiWaffentrager on Reddit.

That same consultant later confirmed that one version of the vehicle (“Production”) was a “planned prototype” and the other (“Prototype”) was a complete “what if”.

Besides, other Reddit users accused said consultant of forging documents and photo shipping evidence.

MaiWaffentrager commented that they are "not in support of the Ho-Ri as shown ingame "and “after leaving I took down everything and started aiding in changing the tanks to historical sides”.

If interested, you can read the original conversation here:

  1. Real life manufacturing

The Ho-Ri project was planned to use the Chi-Ri chassis.
Yet only one incomplete prototype of the Chi-Ri itself was built until the end of the war.

This Japanese war thunder wiki aggregates all available information and debunks all alleged evidence that any Ho-Ri “production” or “prototype” ever existed as real vehicles.

https://wikiwiki.jp/warthunder/Ho-Ri%20Production

“Ho-Ri Prototype” was a wooden mockup, it was never actually built.
“Ho-Ri Production” is a straight up fabrication.

  1. Reputable sources

Zaloga, Steven J. (2007). Japanese Tanks 1939–45.
“Zaloga only gave a handful of sentences on tank destroyer projects such as the Ho-Ri 1 and Ho-Ri 2 (which did not get built) and the Ho-To and Ho-Ro tank destroyers which at least got to prototype stages”

  1. The “But faction X in Enlisted needs something to counter faction Y” argument

Adding things that did not even exist in real life is definitely not the solution.

Otherwise where is the line between “Ho-Ri” and “Nazi UFO” since neither existed?

The devs should have gone full asymmetrical balance for Japan instead of inventing tanks - I hate that fantasy vehicle.

Well, it’s an if.
Of that being introduced.

But if yes, it’s most likely going to be a premium item. The other will remain TT.

So… beside, chances of being rolled back are fairly low.
Especially With the amount of work they putted behind.

Don’t like it either, but what can you do.
We ain’t really the one in control.

They will certainly use that as an exscuse.

But, hypothetical. you can bet people will buy it to have an additional Ho-Ri to use.

All according to plans I guess.

None of these pictures are Ho-Ri lol

the answer wont sound pleasant, but:
its too late by now. japan instead of being br1/2/3 locked was prototyped into br5. deleting all the content, especially paid stuff is obv not feasible & there needs to be something to balance br5 japs with the coming superpershing.

for everyone who doesnt like this scenario: giving the burgers superpershing and the japs…nothing is even more ridiculous. sadly the smart thing of asymmetrical balance of giving the japs some insane plane also wont work, as the majority here doesnt want to understand that concept and rather has a game where “enemy have big stone, i want same big stone! ooga booga”

Will the nazi UFO be premium or tech tree? :smirk:

true… i was saying that japan should not be anything but BR3 faction. it was forcibly elevated to BR5 when it was missing lot of stuff. ffs even their SA are BR2/BR3 material, but they are forced one tier up cause they just didnt have anything adequate to put on those tiers.

Japan being BR 1-3 locked would be extremely limiting and probably filled with BA rifles and shitty-ass tanks, basically German TT compressed into three BRs with worse tanks and AT gear. Japan itself also does not offer much to beginn with to make a interesting (low-BR) TT without considering guns that are on similar level as the wood tanks or were not even used by Japan to begin with.
It would also deny us from getting good late BR planes for Japan because they would melt Allied planes in BR3 and lower in mere seconds.
So just locking Japan would not be a foolproof idea.

And not everyone wants to constantly play low BR matches only.

Even before Japan got BR5, it was the least played faction by a pretty large margin. The Type Hei Auto and the wood tank at least resulted in temporal boost of the faction, which I doubt would be achieved in a same scale with the KE7 (a weapon that technically doesnt evne belong in the Jap TT).

Is that why Japanese fighter slots are always taken?

Apart from planes and maybe AT launchers, is there much to put in to to begin with? Does Japan even need a lot of BR4 stuff if BR3 already mostly faces BR5 enemies because of poor player pool?

that is why i said it should have been BR3 faction. lots of equipment is basically +1 BR offset from where it should have been placed and BR5 is basically prototype land.

So we can never get something more than shitty SA rifles and BA rifles and tanks and no late BR Japanese plane (the only thing were they actually have decent to good content)? And all that in the same BR brackets for eternity?
Sounds motivating I guess.

Point 5 is the main point worth addressing here, since the Japs do need a counter to BR5 tanks in game.

There is a reasonable difference between even a wooden mockup and the glockenballs whatever the nazi ufo was called. The Ho-Ri while a little immersion breaking, isnt completely out of line, isnt OP, and isnt the largest slap in the face for HA I’ve seen.

And yes I get it, its not a perfect solution at all, but unless there is a viable option to insert there instead, I think its best it stays there for now. Not to mention I dont think it should be a priority considering everything else the devs are attempting to ruin at this moment.

well not my fault that japan has shit equipment. their planes are mostly excellent fighters, but if US is not fielding air, they are rather lackluster…

Reality is Japan should end at BR3. Almost all of their BR5 gear is just made up and majority of their “BR 4” stuff is hilariously overtiered. G41 barely counts as a BR 3 rifle, yet Type 4, a rough equivalent, is somehow BR 4?

yes create a bot faction, next faction France lol This B1 Bis tank stood no chance in ww2 : r/TankPorn. Yes dead faction no one wants to play

I think you’re wrong, BR5 Japan has such dedicated playerbase I never get randomed onto that team

Entire Ho-Ri stuffs are just made up imagination
It is purely out of imagination
And it was well known even before the entire Enlisted game launched that this tank is fictional.
But lazy DF just added Ho-ri rather than actually trying to balance things

Why tho? There are a lot of players that actually prefer low BR gameplay ( like myself ),

so I think if BR3 would be some sort of BR cap where it would never face BR4 and BR5, balance wise these factions could exist easily.

Its always a playerbase issue in the end.
