very good ideia, i guess the best diference betwhen a HMG squad and a Gunner squad is the ammo. 5 times more ammo is the minimun, so 100 bulets in the magazine and 500 in the reserve.
otherwise there will be no supression, and will be better use a gunner squad.

If go historically, as for Germans, 500rd for a MG team (gunner and assistant) - is normal. Two Patronenkasten 34, 250rd in belts each.

Ya but they are great for defending and fortifying a already captured position I usually build MG nest on the roof of the games mansions for this very reason.
Most people forget that in this game ammo has weight that makes you run slower and burn stamina when sprinting faster.
Maxim is for Soviets ofc. Germans had something else, donât remember wich. Now I know the Maxim isnât the best mg around⌠but I love the thing for reasons even I donât know.

Little secret: MG-08 and MG-08/15 is Maxim MG too. And Vickers HMG is Maxim.

Or you can use this HMG instead of the Pioneer MG nests, with 500 rounds of ammunition instead of infinite to make the pioneer useful but not that OP.
Better this type of HMG then the Mg42 for all or what do u think ?
sounds pretty good, but you forgot something VERY important for normandy allies:

.30 cal is not hmg. .50 cal is. (except when the nation in question has no .50 cal)

LMG and HMG - different classes with their own role on battlefield.
M2HB - Brilliant one, but mostly it is mounted one. HMG still might by carried by two men - gunner with main gun, and assistant with tripod and spare barrels or water canister and tools.
could still be held by one guy. ive heard of ppl firing m60 .50 cals from the hip, so it can be done. even if they get implemented in game without hipfire one thing remains:
