Historical battles

Hello, we are a small community (called “Games Beyond History”) playing scenarios inspired by real battles in games. We’ve been on WOT for two years now, and since some of our players (including me) also play Enlisted, we’re getting into it this year.

We do events every Saturday at 9pm, but you can also find players the rest of the week!

Briefly, what does it involve?
It’s just playing custom games with mods inspired by real battles.

We create our own mods, but it takes a LOT of time to get to the quality we expect, so in the meantime we use mods developed by other players.

We are mostly French, but English speakers are also welcome (if the French accent doesn’t bother you too much ^^)!

In this topic, we will mainly announce the next sessions and give news about the progress of our mods, but if you are interested or have any questions don’t hesitate!

Saturday’s session will be on the theme of Stalingrad with this mod created by FernandoVN: https://sandbox.enlisted.net/post/6vjUQpBgHZOvNtVL/

Cross the Volga with the support of the Katyushas and progress until you liberate the tractor factory!

See you on Saturday at 9pm (I promise this is the last post for tonight ^^).

I have some doubts whether Stalingrad really has Tigers

Listen, we didn’t make this mod, but it is not so implausible, remember that their first deployment was to Leningrad a month after the start of the Battle of Stalingrad. They were even supposed to take part in the operation “Winter storm” to help the 6th army in Stalingrad.

Believe me, if there were enough historically accurate mods, like those of Night_Voyager here (it’s not ironic, I really love your work on August Storm) we would play them, but unfortunately we wouldn’t last more than 2 months due to their low number… However, if you have any mods like these to recommend, we’d love to hear from you!

It’s also our role to warn players of inaccuracies, which is why we were working on WOT (which has over 75% non-existent tanks or prototypes ).

But to be brief, you’re right, It’s a shame that a detail like that spoils the realism, but unless there’s a way to modify a mod, we’ll deal with it

Thank you, but actually I don’t know the types of Japanese tanks that participated in that battle, so I need to improve this aspect

We’ve done some research about japanese tanks, I will take a look

I found some Type 4 Ke-Nu, it’s an upgrade of the Ha-Go, type 92 and type 94 (Te-Ke) tankettes and of course type 95 ha-go and type 89 I-go. There may have been Chi-ha but I’m not sure.

Tiger I, turret number 123, sits in the snow, somewhere near Stalingrad. Winter, 1942.

Yes, there are. One of the first tank troops of the PRC was a Chi Ha tank (captured from a Japanese controlled factory after the battle)with outstanding combat gains

Not to sound negative, but this is how we got to RPR and AS-44 in Berlin as well as MKB and Pz IV F2 in Moscow - with Darkflow’s “that’s not implausible” attitute.
Except in Moscow’s case those things simply did not exist at the time.
Personally I’ve been craving non-fiction WW2: “Could it have been there? Maybe. Is there any evidence? No.
So we don’t add it”.

CaptainSebekel has given us proof of the presence of Tigers around Stalingrad, but it is true that the presence of several tigers in the city is highly unlikely. But I agree with you, it’s a delicate balance between historical accuracy and fun. I don’t blame Darkflow for wanting to find a compromise between the two, which is a logical position, but are there so few fun historical weapons? On the one hand, it doesn’t seem to be enough since some players are complaining mostly about weapon recycling.

I make it easy for you because you are new

Developers stated a lot of time that if something exist during the year of the battle timeframe or existed before, can be added withaut compliments for balance sake, historical accuracy means nothing

Also just because.

Balance seems to be bit off consider the Jumbo, T-50 or the stormtrooper accuracy of MGs

For Saturday’s event, we go to Moscow and this time we focus on the clashes that took place on the Dnieper River during Operation Barbarossa. The experience promises to be quite different, as the mod is Hardcore with squads.

It is a large map in conquest mode with 9 control points, so a single spawn point fortunately has enough vehicles. That said, we may concentrate the fighting around a few points to reduce the distances and let the AIs fight for the remaining points. The latter are formidable in this game mode as they can see through the bushes. The gameplay is quite fun in solo against the AIs so it will only be better with more people!
A word of advice, take ammo bags and sappers with you as the ammo boxes and respawn points are likely to be very important.

See you as usual on Saturday at 9.pm!

This week, a mod still in development with a very nice experience for a little known conflict! Indeed, “August Storm” is the name given by an american historian to the invasion of Manchuria by the USSR, helped by China and Mongolia. At the time, Manchuria had been under Japanese rule for a decade under the name “Manchukuo” (a puppet state), having been seized by the imperial army following the Mukden incident. Thus, when the tide turned in the West against Germany, the USSR turned its forces against Japan, which they’re hadn’t faced each other on this scale since the battle of Khalkhin Gol 6 years earlier.
