Historical accuracy purists are clowns

For quite a wile now.

It could have been a very unique game yet it decided to follow big brands. Truly a waste.

The HA debate in the last months was overall a bit off mostly mocking on the 100% HA “Purist” boogeymen" or “I want loli-skins for my tank”-Arcadists. It was fun and cringe, notably better than an average debate about the performance of Soviet weapons or the stupid Vickers though.

But it should be clear at this point that DF plays the “technically”-card all the time and either do this because they lied to us or because they were too lazy to do research and adjustments and the HA game is German horse lasagna at this point.

You are comparing missing radio, missing cupola, hammer for the transmission, flag for signaling and leading, missing optics, shitty armor weilding, shitty crew traning, faulty projectile, short life span…

vs

Shitty transmission and final drive(only big cats suffer those)

???

You’re saying the Germans would lose every late war match… they literally lost every “big early war match” against USSR just as well. It’s not like they suddenly started losing out of nowhere (or when captain america arrived lol).

They were ok till Minsk, when they failed OP Barbarossa, they still manage to take Sevastopol, Stalingrad, Leningrad, delaying the inevitable, though, early war is pretty much before OP Barbarossa, like France, Poland, Denmark, Greece, Norway, Luxemburg, Belgium… actually most of the central Europe except England, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland

I’m very tempted to make “Anty-HA ppl are clowns” topic.
I know I shouldn’t but man, the possibilities.

Maybe I’ll create it if I have nothing to do at work.

I mean it’s petty, but then again, we aren’t actively telling people they can’t play what they want. We could have an arcade and historical mode, but that’s apparently asking for too much.

The game is doing so “great” (based on stats by robihr I believe) that asking for a HA/(semi)realistic mode may be actually too much with current playerbase.

And I think that apart from authenticity, realistic physics should also be historical.
Characters should move like normal people, not like ninjas.
There should be mechanics of jamming not only firearms, but also tank cannons and aircraft armament.
Unexploded ordnance.
One shot one knockdown, not an instant kill because most hits do not kill, but most hits take the soldier out of combat.
The mechanics of moving cartridges from one magazine to another, as in Battlebit or Tarkov.
Weapon mods should increase its BR. That if someday it comes to modern conflicts, I would like to be able to put optics on ppsh43.
Friendly fire, limited only to explosions as it was in CBT.

And when it comes to talking about HA, you have to remember that it’s a f2p game and it needs to include both the current balanced mode and maybe in the future we’ll see an unbalanced historical mode.

Every RNG mechanics is lame.

It doesn’t have to be 100% rng.

For example if you change speed / direction often, you have higher chance to have a problem with transmision.

Soldier with a “good driver” perk may have lower chance to damage the vehicle.

Or in the deployment points system spammed my my and @tommyZZM, tanks and crews with higher chance of damaging the vehicle would be cheaper.

I’m not saying we should or shouldn’t implement this. I just point out possibilities.

Current bugs already bring FAR more duds than you’d want…

Three guys made a game less buggy than a big studio. How is it that people with passion make better games.

It could be nice if crossing river would influence state of certain weapons.

Pacific would be instantly more interesting game. Fighting over those little funny bridges on tenaru river etc.

idk one is ~3gt and another is 50gt
One is using something that has been around 20ish years
Another creates constantly something new

Rather, the problem lies in two factors.

  1. Audience - if you are making a game for a specific audience, you don’t have to worry about opinions that are not your target audience.
  2. Sticking to the shape of the game. The CBT game had a lot of cool mechanics and was less buggy than it is now. The creators are constantly messing with something new, or trying to balance something, or remove something that worked before and cause a lot of bugs. How is it that the bipods in CBT used to work correctly and now they don’t work properly?

Do not idealize old CBT times forgetting those were also the times of unrestricted bombers and arty spam…

There were no bombing raids in the CBT that came into the Stalingrad campaign. But yes, it’s true that the artillery worked the whole battle on the whole map.
But it was also immersive. But this was quickly reduced to one shelling at a time.
But artillery fire was dangerous to both enemies and allies, as were grenades and bombs.

as well as price and many other factors. Highly doubt it would have become such success as its now if it was priced with AAA label.

Quite sure the above mentioned 3 guys did exactly this, switched direction of the game during cbt / obt.
And it did pay off.

bomber planes had no restrictions and bombs were nukes rather than bombs.

they were bombs, they were not constrained by the rare RNG mechanism. These days even grenades have an RNG mechanism and you can throw a grenade into a room with 20 people and nobody dies.
