the concept of current guerilla squad is too ambiguous.
Their uniform and weapon tell that this squad is like partisan squad.
But their stats and the way they are used seem more like a special force
In other words, there’s two complitely different concepts coexisting in one squad.
So I suggest to seperate this squad into two
(or at least clarify the concept by choosing oneor other concept)
Partisan
partisans who fight to resist the enemy force deep inside enemy territory.
They usually do not get much of supplies from regular force(the country they belong to),
therefore they had to capture enemy weapons.
Captured weapon not only gave them weapons to fight, but it also ease the ammo supply
since they could capture ammos from enemy supplies.
In game, the capturing ammo aspect is well implemented.
But in no way partisans received smgs with large ammo bag, which even regular soldiers didn’t received that much
Non of actual parisans got full truck of ammo and rare smgs.
So, I suggest partisans should be only equiped with bolt-actions (without ammo bag),
and once they pick up weapons from enemy they should get with ammo bag.
As well, their stats should be adjusted to ressemble actual partisans.
Since not much of partisans got weapon handling training, their weapon handling stat should be very low
But instead, their vitality wll be high in order to balance the stats.
their mobility should be like normal soldier, not a super soldier like right now.
And their number of soldier in squad can be more than 5
Special force
special forces like MAS, SAS or commando.
current stats of guerilla ressemble more to that of special force rather than the partisans.
they can get better stats as the special forces usually get more training than regular soldiers.
To balance out, the squad will have less soldiers, maybe 3 or 4 max.
Also, since they are special force, they can use all weapons in game
including AT weapons, mortar, flamethrower or engi hammer.
And they won’t have ability to go beyond grey zone.
They will also wear cool-looking special force uniforms, not the piece of cloth of partisan.
Anyway, whether they seperate into 2 or choose one of it,
I hope they do something with guerilla squad,
cuz when I see guerilla squad right now I don’t know what DF wanted to realise with it.
it’s definitely not partisan
Well they do spawncamp more than well in certain maps.
Think this was suggested but instead they granted the useless ppsh modification.
Well ideally, they could go into greyzone ~20-50m? max depending on map.
Which would allow for attackers to destroy greyzone radios in certain maps.
How people prefer to call them partisans, gorillas, gravy seals or “special” forces doesnt really bother me.
Imo currently they are nothing but toxic sht.
Remove partisans and guerrillas. They make no sense in the game. They were supposed to stop gray zone camping and they cant even do that. Total trash waste of resources.
from what I understood paristans wouldn’t have lot of supplies, that’s why they were given the special ammo bag with enemy ammo, I thought it was pretty balanced, you had to win firefight to get full ammo weapon, at first I thought it was just some bug as usual that partisans have lots of their own ammo and on top of that secondary weapon, but I guess not? picking up enemy weapons just doesn’t make sense now, why would I do that I have plenty myself and TWO weapons of choice.
The current “guerillas” are a mix of two concepts:
Light, fast, discreet saboteurs who would wear civilian-like clothing and carry concealed weaponry like Obrez and pistols, specializing in sabotage and espionage, living off land and enemy supplies.
Special forces with double weapons, lots of tnt, lots of ammo and balls to fight uneven battles.
Honestly, i’d like them to be just gone as well
But i tried to make it somewhat more interesting than now cuz i know DF will probably not remove them whatsoever
I think Guerilla is fine because it groups these different units together. It’s a catch-all for any unit that would be fighting behind enemy lines. Commandos, recon, raiders, partisans, etc. I don’t think we need a bunch of other miscellaneous classes
Remember we can always get premium/ event squads. British Commandos, Brandenburgers, Giretsu Kuteiai, etc
The point of the guerilla squad is to go inside the grey zone. But for you special force shouldn’t go into the grey zone. It is weird that the special force you suggested have little connection to the current guerilla while claiming current guerilla is more like special force.
Personally I would have rather seen special forces squads implemented then Partisans. Special Forces which have access to THE ENTIRE MAP. However I also have always thought that Paratroopers should have access to the entire map as well as having interchangable weapons load LIKE THE SOVIETS, but DF continues to limit them as well.
Enlisted could be so much better if DF would get out of their own way.
Some of the special forces tweaks could be well implemented into recon squads (as recon are trained to be capable of missions that SOCOM would take).
Paratroopers also fall into this, they could use some of the tweaks and love that guerillas got.
As for partisans, I really struggle to see where they fit into this game. The guerilla class concept could remain the same but there is no reason that partisans should fight alongside the normal soldier (excluding the examples of dire defense such as Berlin and Stalingrad).
I scored 8 tank kills in my last match. Admittedly not all of them were with guerillas, but the majority were. If used correctly, they’re a great addition to our platoons.
They don’t need a buff, nor a nerf. They just need experience.
I had seven the other night, all done from my Ju-188. For the first couple years, most tanks were killed with explosion packs, and some with anti tank weapons. In three years I only have ONE kill with an anti tank mine. I don’t even carry them anymore. Now, in the past six months to a year since I started flying damn near every tank kill comes from either my Stuka or Ju-188 since Tanks cannot hide in a grey zone from planes. I had I think five a couple nights ago in level 2 Allies. We were getting our asses kicked, and I had switched from my P51 Mustang to the Dauntless dive bomber and wanted to test it out. I had a ton of kills with it along with I think five tanks. The first pass alone killed 13. She was slow, but with two small bombs and one 1,000 lbs bomb delivers a nice punch if on target. I raised havoc for about three passes, until someone got wise and went up in a fighter plane where the Dauntless is pretty much a sitting duck at that point. I have killed a few tanks with paratroopers when a tank will sit close to the grey zone line, and I can drop in not far and grab an anti tank weapon from my box. I think it would be nice if the entire map were open to paratroopers as it would be nice to be able to drop in behind the tanks, or just behind enemy lines on maps which are designed to be frontal attack only, which I hate.
We see from the comment from our moderator. Never a single word addressing the most obvious inconsistency: how can guerrillas enter the greyzone but not the spec ops and paratroopers? The question is always deferred to the squad’s combat effectiveness that it is not “useless” .
Of course the devs know the issue, but out of sheer laziness, they think time will be the best remedy for bad design choices. Few months later, guerrillas will join the honorable ranks of forgettable mechanics like motorcycles, medics, bombing runs, rocket barrage and more.
I would argue landing in enemy greyzones or close to the borders while having the ability to get ARs and rocket launchers (not to mention that the Soviet, German and Japanese paratroopers have access to SF rifles) isn’t exactly something that a lot of people want to face on daily dosis.
Guerllias don’t have access to rocket launchers, and their SMGs at least don’t shred as much on mid-range as SF rifles, and also they have to reach the zones first.
Well, you should check the name of old event squads. Hint:Tunisia silenced sten
I am not arguing that they should be op. Players shouldn’t be able to spam paratroopers in the first place, but this is what we got.I am pointing out the obvious inconsistency. I am tired of seeing these pointless comments saying guerrillas are not op or are useful, so they are fine in the game. Of course they are fine, same as dozens of other niche mechanics in the game. They can be very effective and I have put them into good use. Doesn’t change my opinion that they shouldn’t be added in the first place, at least in the current form. They are not the answer to greyzone camping as the patch notes suggest. Guerrillas are just gimmicks, added for the sake of adding, same as motorcycles , medics, bombing runs, and more. To address the obvious inconsistency between guerrillas and paratroopers, it becomes necessary to reconsider greyzone and the spawn of special squads. But, alas, devs are too lazy to make any changes and moderators are paid to repeat same excuses.
Also, partisans without panzerfuast are just not right. Arbitrary design choice.
And yet they are not a class. It is just a squad name.
By that logic, why are the German and American infantry squads named after paratrooper units not actual paratroopers? Why are the Volkssturm units not an actual Volkssturm class?
?
The Soviet partisans couldn’t get access to Fäuste until late 43 or 44, when the Soviets were already reclaiming most of their lost territory, the American guerillas as well, especially the Aussie squad. The Japanese never had rocket launchers, the German Volkssturm units never served behind enemy lines, and the normal VS units already has access to Fäuste.
And gameplay-wise, its not “arbitrary” because it would make them OP against tanks.
I don’t know. You didn’t suggest anything either here. Just ramble.
