While many of you are thinking that tanks are overpowered but just hear me out. The reason why many people think tanks are overpowered is because of grey-zone tanks and this needs to be addressed. The solution I have come up with is nerfing AT weapons and explosive packs because we need to remember that grey-zone tanks happen because charging in with a tank is a quick way to die in the current state of enlisted. Secondly, AP weapons in tanks should be buffed, HE shells, machine guns, etc. tankers should also be able to use pistol ports. And the biggest solution I can think of is a zone around capture point where if tanks are in them it would multiply the amount of soldiers on an objective so if for example, you had two soldiers on an objective and a tank on one of those zones surrounding objectives those two soldiers would count as four and this would stack so if you had two tanks those two soldiers would count as eight. Overall, while I don´t think this would completely solve grey-zone tanks I think it would make them a lot less of an issue. This is just my opinion of course and I would love to hear all of yours.
This not only won’t solve problem, it will make it almost unbearable.
Some tanks are extremly overpowered, some just suck but this is due to poor vehicle choice and balancing problem.
I will opt for timer that allows only 30 seconds for spawn camping.
I just think there is something wrong with tanks’ HE. If there is no direct hit, even if the HE explodes at the feet of the soldiers, they will sometimes be unharmed.
There are many reasons why tanks stay in the gray zone. Supply points that are too far away are a problem, but it is not because the tanks are too weak.
The tank is powerful enough
Tanks should indeed be allowed to occupy strategic points. This will at least give tank players a reason to charge. In addition, I think tanks should also replenish ammunition at strategic points.
Some tanks are seriously short of ammunition, especially the M8 Scott and IS-2, which rely heavily on supply points.
I strongly agree
What is the point of charging with a tank in the first place? The main use of tank in this game is to provide fire support. Sitting at the grey zone often has the best view, so many people sitting in it.
When I play as tanks I mostly push up with infantry. I look at the map and try to move alongside infantry. I act as a shield, (basically a distraction), and a mobile bunker for taking out immediate threats, and they basically protect me by fighting any infantry in the area
But the problem is that isn’t the most ideal way to play a tank, almost as if this game necessitates sitting in the gray zone.
I personally don’t have an issue with gray zone camping, but I think that’s because I primarily fight at the frontlines. Even then a tank sitting all the way in the back is only as good as his fellow teammates allow him to be. If your infantry can’t defend the point you still lose
I’d say overall it’s just a huge problem of how we balance a combined arms game with infantry, tanks, and planes
I will say I don’t think AT gadgets should be nerfed
I think one of the real issues (I still think the game is mostly fine) is map and objective size. For example, I only occasionally see AT and AA guns being built. With only 10 players the majority of the team is always going to be sitting on the objective
I think an interesting idea would be to have one large map, 50 players, 30 infantry, 10 vehicle, 10 plane, and there would virtually be no gray zone. Theoretically Conquest would work best for this kind of mode so no areas would be locked out.
Tanks are unkillable at range for inf.
Solution:
Make them unkillable/ way harder to kill on all ranges for infantry.
This together with the first and second point would make tanks even more cancer because now they can Blitzkrieg the cps.
My take is that we have two main problems with tanks.
- They camp in areas where the enemy inf cant kill them and rely on tanks and planes.
- They are easily spamable because every motherfucker can instantly spawn a tank right after the last one has been blown up, half of the time it’s the same motherfucker who just switched to another squad.
We can’t solve the second problem because core cause is DFs refusal to limit anything because that would be unfun (nah, it makes more fun to nerf something into Oblivion or make something ridiculous OP and leave it as it is for the next months or do nothing at all)
So it leaves with addressing the greyzones. Df I think once mentioned that they are working or thinking about the greyzones but I think that was also over a year ago.
People suggested removing greyzone (which would enable spawnraping), limit it to timer (which could lead to all kind of trouble) or getting bigger maps (which we only got in Tunisia and Pacific, and they are all pretty horrible and in general Df teased up with big maps for years now).
Reducing the chance a tank will be destroyed in the main area is not going to lure them out, because they’re 100% safe in the grey zone. Why come out at all, even if AT weapons are nerfed?
Besides. It’s such an easy problem to solve and it’s very frustrating it hasn’t even been mentioned yet. Just make it so tanks can’t shoot in the grey zone, or their shells won’t damage targets when firing inside the grey zone.
Personally in my experience I almost never encounter gray zone tanks. For the most part most enemy tanks tend to be relatively close and not out of reach around the objective
I will say for the most part you don’t really know exactly where your gray zone ends unless you memorize it when you’re the attackers on said maps. I mean obviously standing all the way back at spawn but you know what I mean
a simple incentive to curb grey zone camping is to simple reduce the points they get from killing while sitting in the grey zone. it won’t stop grey zone camping, but it would make it less profitable so there’ll be more people feeling they need to charge a bit further ahead.
there could be also be only spawn area gray zone where tanks are immune to spawn camping but cant shoot when they are inside it and once you leave it it disappears and it comes back when you get into new tank
blunt…but on point
I have made the exact same suggestions that you have made numerous times. Yet the same people that you see complaining here on yours are the same ones that spammed mine with negative feedback.
I for one think that explosive packs as they currently are need to be removed. Primarily for the balance fact that handheld grenades should not be able to be carried by run of the mill infantry. Perhaps a sticky alternative with extremely low penetration that really can only disable tracks and such.
This would help bring back the usage of AT troops and TNT mines, and encourage tanks to move up more. Plain and simple the explosive packs account for 60-70% of the reason players don’t push up with tanks. (I pull this statistic from 50 players that I’ve seen frequently on console, the reason MAY be different on PC, but unlikely.)
Additionally, the MG seat of the tank should be ran by AI and be capable of shooting anything within 50 or so meters. This helps both to protect the tank as well as add more offensive capability for tanks pushing forward.
Hate it. I think your suggestions just make tanks more OP than they already are.
I can fix this, when you switch to the gunners seat you can zoom in, well have the opposite happen for gray zone campers.
200% view gunners seat
100% normal view
50/25% hiding all the way in the gray zone
“Look down there. Would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stop moving — forever? If I offered you twenty thousand for every dot that stops, would you really, old man, tell me to keep my money or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare?”
Harry Lime in The Third Man(Why the quote love police procedurals)
looking down from a Ferris wheel in third man, anyways compare a normal rifle to a sniper rifle now imagine the same in reverse, or compare looking down sights to not, won’t solve the problem but might make people hesitate.
Grey zones are necessary to stop spawnkilling - if you can shoot into the greyzone than the grey zone must be able to shoot back.
You guys don’t know what you are asking for.
Greyzones aren’t the problem, instead map design is.
we want a timer, or something we don’t want people camping in the grey zone, US soldiers did grey zone the us, grey zone the UK, grey zone the Normandy beaches. Stark in the grey, get ready and advance.
How about people can’t shoot in or out of the gray zove a forcefield around the grey zone, that will hopefully work better the red cross on well everything which worked more as a target.
well atleast some one has some brain power
yes it is a map issue
tiny maps that allow the entire playable area to be seen from spawn
rubbish map design that leaves tank mobility to be wanting but still open with no cover
very lineare ways to approach the objective making flank attacks more effort intense
and a objective the size of a house
this is the game design that developers force on us, and then they have to nerf everything… and again and again and again
in some games i’ve seen tank shooting directly into the house, in the one same spot, keeping attackers off.
so frustrating.
