Good weapons for USA to balance Normandy campaign

because i literally grew use to fighting it in the panzer 3N and knew how shitty jumbo’s rounds actually are so if anything YOU good sir are biased here

Every German tank has a chance of killing the Jumbo frontally aside from the 3N
You can’t say the same for the Panther
Panther has a fantastic gun
Jumbo has dogshit AP
M10 is an actual sack of shit with an awful anemic gun

Ah if you can kill it then its perfectly balanced? Last time I checked you could kill Fg42,Mp43 and even panther users just fine.
So whats your problem here ?

I’d like you to go back and quote where he said it was balanced

One of patchontes stayted that dispersion nerf was reverted for box fed MGs. Isn’t that the case? (I play only with MG34 so I have no idea.)

thank you for showing me that you don’t use m2 carbine, or really play allied normandy. since FG42 has pratically no recoil and MP43 is also no recoil while what does jumbo have? armor and that’s all

Nah they still spray rounds all over the place if you so much as fat finger a button and move slightly
The change never stopped what it was supposed to, but gutted anything smaller magged/slower firing than the MG-34

My Bredas, Madsens, and BARs aren’t all maxed out but they share the same dispersion issue that gimps them a bit
BARs are by far still the most useful, but I can’t deny they disperse a bit

I would say these weapons would be great, but they are not the only solution needed for the Normandy debacle.

Yeah the armor that had 2 tiny weakspots frontally making it near indestructable at longer range and a gun that hardly had any issues penning every german armor. So the only downside it has is the lack of aphe.

If this is your idea of balance then fear not. You can negate the recoil of your M2 by using singleshot and by shooting head you can be just as deadly as any other gun.
Np that tip was entirely free.

To be honest, it’s a very simple issue to solve:

  • Remove both FG42 variants, because they were used by Luftwaffe (Fallschirmjäger) and not Wehrmacht.

  • Remove the M4A3E2 Jumbo, because it wasn’t there in real life.

  • Remove the Panther for balance reasons.

And then, to patch holes in the progression:

  • Put the Sniper G43 in place of the FG42II and put a bolt action sniper rifle (I’d go with the Pre-war K98k with scope mount) in the current place of the Sniper G43, making the sniper weapon progression identical to American one.

  • Here’s a controversial one: put the StG44 as an all-trooper full-auto intermediate cartridge weapon (so like the M2 Carbine) in place of the FG42. But then also FIX THE DAMN M1 AND M2 CARBINES. I understand the damage being weaker than the StG44 one - .30 Carbine is weaker the 7.92mm Kurz, but there is absolutely no reason why carbines have literally twice the recoil of the StG44 (all one star: 26 and 7 for the StG, 52 and 16 for the M1, 50 and 16 for the M2)

  • Put the M10 GMC in place of the M4A3E2 Jumbo and put either the M18 GMC or the M36 GMC.

  • Put the Jagdpanzer 38(t) in place of the Panther, so that you still have a well armored vehicle with good firepower.

delete half the game and replace it with something else? That’s too radical.
I think the developers just see the development of the game differently, if you think about the fact that you need to cut half of the game?
The jumbo and panther are strong tanks, but it would be strange not to see the legendary tanks in the game.
Is-2 and KT in Berlin will also look monstrous

Best take I’ve seen on the issue aside from giving the StG to everyone
Should just lock the M2 to assaulters as well tbh

Never had issues with it excluding the current panther.
Sure it often took fair share of hits before destroying the tank but being 95% of time technically invulnerable against your enemy made it rather easy task.

Not really since the PzIV can kill the IS-2 just fine and the same goes for the 85mm and the KT P

The only thing I don’t like about KT in Berlin is they chose Porsche turret model.

True, either give StG44s and M2 Carbines to everyone or keep the M2 Carbines and MP43s (just for the sake of keeping the names clear, according to the name it was a “submachine gun”) to assaulters.

I know it seems radical, but there is no realistic workaround for the FG42 (both variants) and the M4A3E2 Jumbo, because they both aren’t realistic in the first place - FG42s weren’t used by the army and Jumbo simply wasn’t there (and by the way, that’s my problem with it, that it wasn’t there, not that it’s a massive tank).

This is a fantastic discussion. I play almost solely US Normandy for the time being as I’m a f2p kind of guy after all the money I’ve spent in WT. At least until I max out the US that is.

I have to say I am quite happy with all of the US weapons save the tanks. Even the M2 Garand I have fun with. just something so satisfying with watching someone try to dance in front of its rate of fire. Once in a blue moon I pick up a German FG and I can definitely see the gripe though. The only really major flaws I have is with the tanks. At least in WT I can smack the turret cheeks and slowly whittle a Panther down and with correcting my angle the M4A3E2 (now BR 5.3) can be tough to pen for anything BR 6.0 and under. Still pissed I’m seeing Tiger 2’s but that’s another story. In this game however there is just no way to get shots on target without getting one shot when facing a Panther. Get in a plane and try to hit it with 500 pounders. That’s about all I have found to do.

I don’t think its a weapons issue. We all like fun new toys and I hope this game gets more. Its simply just not a very balanced game yet. Still very fun albeit supremely frustrating at times with almost no viable coordination or communication options. Keep up the good work Gaijin. I hope you get it sooner or later.
