TDs are in a weird spot where they have almost identical hard parameters as tanks but are clearly worse due to no MG and no turret (obviously with exceptions).
So to make them more usefull, I propose to give them better AP ammunition than regular tanks. This way they won’t be as good as normal tanks but they will have a purpose as actuall TD units.
(This suggestion is on top of other improvements already suggested by community, like adding MGs etc.)
I totally agree with you but also opened canns should be improved for example the 88-Flak, also more turninng (turret-rotation-speed) should be added, surplus bether ankles

Germans could get tungsten rounds I guess. I know too little about other nations though.
A lot of tanks tanks had APCR options and some do have better APHE options like the dicker max with 187 mm.
StuG III F can carry 44 rounds max. currently (19 APCBC / 18 HE / 7 Smoke)
In my oppinion it should get access to Heat and APCR shells as well, new configuration →
(19 APCBC / 9 HE / 7 Heat / 5 APCR / 4 Smokes)
These statistics are from War Thunder and I don’t doubt that they would change them too much.
In this case i vote for APCR for 88-Flak aswell, why shouldnt the so called “Tank-Sniper” deal tje most damage in exchange for 0 Armour? I guess so
Yeah, it could have APCR, but I don’t think that I would use it that much. Flak 8.8cm has very good APCBC shell (more TNT filler and little bit less penetration compared to Tiger H1 APCBC shells).
Historically Flak-88-37 is longer and should have more pen according to more barellpressur than Tiger-kwk-36, since both are in BRIV and Tiger got many advanteges 88-Flak need atleast harder hits (maybe surplus bether zoom in, also bc to shot farer away planes)
Ain’t the M10 and M18 already got their APCBC shells? That’s bout as good as it gets unless they also had APCR to choose from. Not to mention they’re 2 of 3-4 tanks that actually get our APCBC instead of solid AP

Only long 76mm (and 90mm) gets a taste of ABCBC. BR IV Jumbo and Calliope should have ABCBC the low velocity 75mm with solid shot AP is just terrible.

I don’t know much detail about ammunition types. And I don’t play all factions with every gear so this doesn’t help either.
I just want all TDs to be better at TDing so they are usefull.
Fair enough. Honestly APCBC for all that had it available is the best go to across the board. HEAT for any that had it cough M8 cough and APCR for any that had that shell available. That sums up TD’s and their ammo choices for WWII
All TDs, should probably be lowered down by 1 BR tier…
Except the Dicker. The Dicker can suffer in BR V for all I care
