Give Bombers a Demolition Kit with throwable 4kg high explosives and make Explosion Charges only able to plant

if bombers had the choice between a throw-able Satchel Charge and and Rocket Launcher they might be used more…

also give us spool of wire to and a plunger/blasting machine to detonate Explosion Charges manually from cover realistically a maximum of 35-45 meters of wire would be acceptable so you can get far enough in cover but not soo much that people can basically wire explosives half way across the map

this also opens up the potential for a new perk that will allow your soldier to carry like 15-20 extra meters of wire.

New Perk
(:fist_right: 5) +15 meters wire reel capacity

The Engineers current building selection menu can be adapted to be used for this purpose, it would just need 4 options.
Plant Explosive which would dig a small hole and plant an explosive.
Wire Reel which would pull out the wire reel and allow you to connect the explosive/explosives to the blasting machine
Large Blasting Machine which would put a blasting machine down in a location of your choosing capable of detonating up to 12 explosion charges wired to it (realistically they could wire up 50 charges to these)
Hand Held Blasting Machine which would pull out a hand held blasting machine capable of wiring and detonating a single explosion charge (realistically they could wire up 10 charges to these)
Wire Reel

Potential Wiring layouts (yea i know there’s probably a couple layouts i missed but that’s all i could come up with off the top of my head)
Possible Setup for charges
Large Blasting Machine

Hand Held Blasting Machine

this would make grenades more useful for attacking like breaching a position and explosion packs would be more useful in a defensive way like loading a main road with charges as you wait for the enemy to walk into the trap

cause currently everyone just equips an explosive pack… the rest of the throwables are barely ever used…

I wouldnt equip everyone with TNT packs if tank spam was toned down. As it stands I can spend every single moment of the game blowing up an endless stream of tanks.

To me, blowing up tanks is currently the single most satisfying thing to do in the game, so I’m happy, even though the current state of things is admittedly quite silly.

On topic, such an ability sure would be cool but it also sounds quite finnicky and I don’t think it would be worth using without also being stupidly powerful and then it’s just another annoying thing, that blows up entire squads. But I AM very much in favour of giving the bomber class additional utility.

what sounds finicky about it??? you select the explosive and when you click the area your looking at it will tape it to the side of a building/tree or plant it in a shallow hole on the ground, etc…

you then can either place a Large Blasting Machine, that requires you to either separately wire them so they all go off at the same time or connect them all together in single a line so they go off one after the other, or you pull out the Hand Held Blasting Machine and directly connect the wire to it then stand back and crank the handle when you want to set the single explosive off

I’d rather tanks have some gravity to their presence on the battlefield rather than oh hum this is my 300th tiger I’ve killed this match.

Also this game is way too fast paced and frenetic for unspooling command wire, placing a detonator, arming a blasting cap.

lol its not too fast paced to be able to build a portable bunker, and if you really need a quicker setup that’s why i included a “Hand Held Blasting Machine” that you don’t have to place and you’ll be able to connect the wires to it while your holding it…

the only reason the Wire Spool option is there is for the “Large Blasting Machine” …its the most simple way to add a system that you can connect multiple objects together with

Ok, here are some considerations:
How long is the wire and what happens, when you run out of it? Or should it be infinitely long? Well, that would be a bit unrealistic and maybe a tad unfair. Can the wire be damaged by explosions? Can the stationary blasting machine be damaged? Who can use the stationary blasting machine? Anyone? Well, that might result in some idiot setting off your carefully planted explosives at an inopportune time. Only the squad, that planted it? That makes your explosives useless after you die. Similar consideration for the handheld device.

Make too many concessions to user friendliness and the demo kit becomes a camper’s wet dream.

i forgot to add the wire length at the beginning but i updated the OP a little while ago with it, i was thinking 35-45 meters max

and as for who it damages… i figured i would just leave that the way they currently have it where friendly explosion damage only damages the soldier who threw it just so that doesn’t raise a fuss.

and yea sure the planted blasting machine should be able to be damaged like everything else and if it gets destroyed you’ll have to rely on the Hand Held one, as for wire damage… :expressionless: lets just not go there this system is clearly complicated enough eh…

although yea the explosives themselves should be detonate-able if they are hit with an explosion

and yea to prevent some random from just setting your explosives off i would definitely say only your squad should be able to use the blasting machine

upon the respawn of the squad that planted the explosives/blasting machine the placed explosives and blasting machine should be removed from the map so your squad can place new charges without having duplicates already on the map

just because if it didn’t you’d end up with people who have like x2 explosion charges 1 set planted and 1 upon their spawn… like that’s the best i can do… so even if your original squad dies you’ll still have the explosives around until you respawn as the squad that planted them

Tank infantry balance is pretty good right now, if anything giving the bombers more AT power would be cool, but anything besides that would makes the game worse.

The real problem with TnT is its effectiveness against infantry, such that it makes normal grenades obsolete.

There is no tank spam there are only 2 per side and they are easy to avoid…

What I do see is a bunch of idiots that when seeing a tank will try to kill it by running straight at it…

hence the idea to make it so you can only plant TNT and have to set it off manually with a triggering system… :unamused:

if you cant throw the TNT then it can’t be used as a hand grenade with a larger explosion radius… meaning it will force people to equip regular hand grenades if they want to throw an explosive in a building to clear enemy infantry… like it should be… like good god… throwing an explosive that’s wired to a timer/blasting cap has a good chance of dislodging the fuse wire or breaking the timer altogether on impact rendering the explosive inert…

the reason a satchel charge works to throw is because the explosives and detonation mechanism are enclosed in a canvas bag so your not throwing the explosive itself your chucking a bag filled with explosives, it follows the same logic as throwing a toilet paper roll and then throwing a toilet paper roll that’s inside a bag, the one inside the bag is more likely to stay together
