Germany is in a dire need to bring some BR3/4 smgs to BR2.
MP 35/I and Beretta M38A (40 rounds) are good candidates, they don’t have excessive rof and low recoil like ZK-838 to overpower any of the competition’s smgs.
M38/42 is completely useless so could be foldered in BR2 anyway.
Kiraly needs to be lowered in BR too to BR3 so it could compete against overpowered PPSh-41 box and Thompsons.
Taking away mp717(r) was a mistake but we still could correct it by adding it again to the TT and also giving Axis KP-31 however this time with 50 rounds in BR5 it would have better recoil/dispersion and reload speed than premium version.
After adding paper weapons and tanks into Soviet/Japanese TT you have no excuse anymore so it should be added anyway to correct German debuff that was there for years across all BRs.
They could just increase M1 Beretta and Beretta 38/42 stock rof. Its only 500 in game while most sources claim 550.
That would be close enough to pps42, Type 2a SMG and Lanchester’s 600 rpm
The MP40 is a great SMG for BR2, it has great sights and is very controllable. The Beretta M1 is quite good as well with clean sights.
The Soviets PPS43 is better then the MP40 cause of the fire rate, but I would say the MP40 is on par with the Lanchester in terms of being overall good. However I think the MP40s sights are better then the Lanchesters. The MP40 is better then the grease gun cause fire rate is important for SMGs.
Germany also has the best MGs at BR II with the MG13, and also the ZB29 is alright. The MG13 can be used fairly well in the same role as an SMG if used in close quarters in buildings or trench clearing. Also the ZB29 functions very much like the American BAR but with the top fed magazine obstructing some of the sight picture.
This means that the asymmetrical balance overall kind of favors Germany at BR II when it comes to automatic weapons. I don’t think the BR III Germany SMGs should be down tiered to BR II, Soviet teams are typically very dumb at BR II even if they have a better SMG they will likely lose just by being dumb, again its asymmetrical balance.
i would go other way around… i would move high performing smg from BR2 to BR3 or BR4. only problem is that soviets all have high performing smg, so at best they could only move pps43 to BR3.
for me pps43 is much better weapon cause it clears caps much better. i dont need long range auto spray with smg and i can always burst fire with pps43 for controllable mid range kills.
I think MP40 should be the best gun at BR2 so that it stays relevant, considering it is Germanys most iconic weapon.
That being said, I honestly believe Kiraly deserves to be at the same BR as PPSH - yes it is harder to use, but in the right hands can outperform PPSH - especially since it reloads increadibly fast, which doesn’t make 70 rounds vs 40 rounds all that impactful as a difference.
Br2 isn’t supposed to be super powerful. Sure, other factions have better br2 smgs, like pps… but it doesn’t mean changes are drastically needed.
I feel br 1 & 2 are in a good place. I wouldn’t change anything for those br.
Br 3 is almost perfect too. I’d just fix ppsh41box bugged dispersion and make it the same as all other smgs.
About br 4 & 5… it’s a silly place. I don’t hang here. Maybe some br5 smgs could be lowered to br4, like Kiraly and ppd40… AND PREMIUM GERÄT WHICH HAS NO PLACE IN BR5.

It’s not about meta it’s about having smgs of similar power as every single nation except Germany has something with higher rof and similar recoil as inferior MP40/M1.
Thats the thing, I always thought MP40 are supposed to be better at longer ranges than their Soviet counterparts, while the Soviet SMGs are excellent in close range because of low recoil and rate of fire - however since the only benefit MP40 has over PPS and PPSH is more initial damage that allow to kill in two shots up close, this idea is effectively the exact other way around.
Doesn’t matter that they have same dmg if Lanchester has faster rof. It has 34% higher dps and with smg it’s all that matter, with mp40/m1 you are always at the disadvantage you want to pick up their smgs to have easier time killing your enemies.
