the USA national archive has the same video so that is the only source i have for p47
I miss CBT Moscow bomb loadouts
One side had decent number of lame bombs. Other side had a single reasonable precision bomb. Was AWESOME. This carpetbombing buggery is just awful
There’s this one too - at 4:20 the yare bombing up with 1000lb bombs in Italy, and at 8:47 rockets in Burma
One of the problems with getting video is, of course, that gun camera footage never shows the aircraft itself nor what it is carrying
Alrighty lads… let’s make a few things clear.
1. The report / flag button is not a toy, it’s not something you can just click each time you disagree with someone. It is meant to be used as a way to notify us, the moderators, of something that could be breaking the forum rules. If you do not know the forum rules, I strongly suggest that you read them before you flag any posts, as falsely flagging technically is against the rules. There were an incredible amount of posts flagged on this topic, some of which were valid, many of which were not valid. I also do find it a bit odd from a moderators perspective that some were calling out the other “party” for abusing the report system, while doing the same behavior. In the end, don’t joke around and spam reports if there’s nothing valid to report please.
2. There are a large amount of comments here which simply do not relate to the topic. I’ve done a bit of cleanup, but I kindly ask that any further discussion of this topic is on topic. If you need to be reminded of the original topic, scroll back up to the top and read it over.
Thanks.
yeah but still cool to see actual footage though ^^
You’ll like this one then - most if not all of them are from 6 June 1944 - haven’t checked every one, but it’s “more of the same” machineguns at dawn as it were
i’ll watch that on my birthday with also is june 6th but now we are getting off topic
As I kraut main I need this
Yeah… Still don’t get how the Germans have air force, especially CAS in Berlin but game is game.
The 500kgs are way too powerful and should be nerfed/replaced with bombs similar to the 100kgs of the IL-2 the me-410 wasn’t even a CAS plane iirc it was bomber hunter/night fighter/heavy fighter
Not to talk about how german fighters get basically bomber bombs (looking at you me-109 G-6) when the counter fighters get hand grenades (looking at the 100lb bombs) and the counter fighters were used for CAS way more…
Its funny how german pilots talks about historical accuracy and want some proof what other nations used their planes.
Actually it would be nice see some proof what nukes luftwaffe actually used while defending berling…

Attack on the Pardubice airport and Fanto refinery:
Droop-Snoot marker lightning from the 306th FW plunged two 500lb bombs into one of the tanks in the refinery, which were created a point of focus for the others.
Well, Lets take Kuban as example Soviet Union lost like over 1000 planes while Germans lost about 40 me109s. Literately soviet planes were raining down from the sky!
The problem w/ the P-51 is that they gave us the P-51C, which is ho-hum. I’d have preferred either an earlier model P-51 with its 20mm Hispano cannons, or a P-51D with its eight 50-caliber machine guns. I’m not 100% certain the D-model was in service prior to D-day, though.
Well for one, the D was at D-Day. For two, it only had 6 fifties.
The plane with 8 was the P-47.
The only P-51 that had cannons was a P-51 designed and made for the RAF. Adding that would only result in the plane being horribly outclassed by everything the germans have.
I am not sure why they opted for Ju188 and Bf110 on German side. There were so many allied fighters in the air that it is a death sentence for any twin-engine German fighter or bomber to be in the air.
If they just used what Germans actually had on on Normandy we would have no problems like this.
And I am talking about is Schlachtgeschwader 4 which were flying the FW190 F and G versions. F version is present in WarThunder, so no problem with that. I am aware that it could carry 1000 kg bomb, but I am not advocating for this as it would be too powerful. On long range missions they normally carried 1 250kg or 1 500kg bomb and sometimes 4 50kg bombs under the wings. For balancing reasons i would opt for 250kg and that’s it, problem solved. As Germans have only one airplane in the air, it can serve as a fighter, but is outclassed by P51 in pure fighter to fighter role.
The author of the video visited German war archives. Really nice channel actually, watch it yourselves.
And yeah, I agree P47 would be much better suited to counterbalance what Germans now have.
I’d like the Fw190F-8 with the 1000kg bomb but from my experience in WT with it and how easily 100kg bombs blow you out of the air, it wouldn’t be a good fit. The 500kg or 250s and some 50s would be mint
For balancing reasons I think 1000kg is too much. You could obliterate half of map with it.
And, as said, it could only be used at short range. Germans placed their airfields deeper into France for obvious reasons, so 250 kg and 4 50 kg could be reasonable. Same as P47 as it had to fly from England.
Except England to Normandy is an extremely short flight. Even a fully loaded P47 could easily get anywhere in Normandy in 30 minutes taking off from Britain. I still don’t think the P47 should have more than 500 lb bombs though for balance purposes
