Semi got an unwarranted nerf to their only useful characteristic, for reasons completely unknown.
Solution:
You want to nerf semi autos rof in an unrealistic way because reasons? Fine…
Boost their bullet damage per cartridge on par with bolt actions ones then. You know… if you wanna be “realistic”… Same bullet, right? Why are they all caped at 12?
I am for. I only liked the reduction in the rate of fire, it would be nice to add a perk to this (actually bad, not necessary), as well as increase the damage (I’m only for).

I know I’ve read it… but their observations are wrong. The Garand for example, you could empty then “ping” your magazine really fast, even without hipfiring in real life. As it was already in game and it was fine! Because doing so while trying to aim properly would make you miss.
What will be the real result of this unwanted nerf?

Totally agree. If they wanted “realism” for semi autos, they could, idk… double the recoil? Or do something similar, but leave rate of fire alone. Especially that they basically killed the M1 Carbine and VG 1-5 by including them in the nerf.

Tbh, it depends what campaign you play.
In Normandy, allies get massacred by MP 43/I, Panthers and FG 42, but in Tunisia, Germans and Itals are getting massacred by Lees, Thompsons, or even earlier, Lanchesters. The same in Moscow. Soviets have better starter tank (and top tier one too - T-50) and their SMGs are the best in the game no matter the campaign. Also, Allied CAS in Normandy is way better than German, I mean, look at the Thunderbold.
But if they spam “hoping” for a shot hit… it’s on them (and they usually fail miserably at range). The redeeming factor of semi autos was it could be used cqb in a pinch… And there is ALREADY a tradeoff, a big one at that, an artificial damage cap of 12. If they want to make things realistic (they don’t, that change doesn’t make sense) then semi auto should do the same damage per bullet than their bolt action counterparts using the same cartridges.
What will happen now with their stupid change? Everyone will spam fg42, m2 and avs. Nothing else. It was good before that unwanted nerf because those were sidegrades, so you could see alot of both types… It will end fast. Why would you use a slow firing weaker variant of a bolt action? You’ll have more chances in cqb using bolt actions as they will down on the first hit, whereas semis won’t…
And to finish… I know your weapons of choices are smgs and lmgs, it’s pretty much the only type of infantry squad you use… What would you say if they decided to pre nerf the upcoming (ah, in a year maybe 🤦) stg 44 in Berlin or other smgs lmgs by slowing it’s rof, adding insane recoil and lowering it’s damage with fake excuses like “it’s realistic”… the semi were MY favoured weapon class, I could do anything with it, loved it for it’s versatility. Now it’s a weak firearm type, better only use only fg42 and such.

I’m not sure. I don’t know how good Thunderbolt’s rockets are (although judging by how annoying were couple of matches that I happened to play against Allied teams with good P-47 pilots, they’re pretty good), Bf 110’s rockets are definitely very good. P-47 however additionally has a 250kg (more less) bomb and is slightly more agile as a fighter.
